Note: Included are two DayNightSetting files. By default, the module has a non-bloom enhanced version. If you would like like to view the Bloom version, import the SuragueBloom file into the area before playing.
If the toolset crashes on load, try again. Toolset isn't very friendly with rather large areas, but the game plays just fine.
-----------
This area is modeled after the information given by the Unapproachable East handbook, combined with a few extra touches from myself. The Surague Escarpment is one of many areas that youll be able to visit in Thayvian Nights: a module I have been working on for the past few months. The area takes into consideration that Thay is a relatively dry land, so the western border is relatively bare of grass and trees.
A few things that Ive added was the natural hot springs that form along the base of the Surague, where a dormant volcano has remained relatively inactive over the past few years. This concept was borrowed from the Yellowstone National Park and Old Faithful.
The screenshots to your right only feature a few sample spots of interests, but there are plenty more to be had in this area. The area is fairly large, so it would be impossible to capture every scene of interest.
At the eastern edge of Thay, amid the foothills of the Sunrise Mountains, rises the third of Thays major cliffs - the Surague Escarpment. The Surague forms a shelf atop the First Escarpment, averaging about 6,000ft (183m) in elevation. Numerous streams spill down from the heights of the Sunrise Mountains, creating a tangled maze of gorges and canyonlands in this corner of the country. (Unapproachable East, p150).
The Sunrise Mountains, which many consider to mark the eastern end of Faerun, run all the way from the center of Rashemen to just past the south-eastern border of Thay. It forms the entirety of Thay's eastern border, towering just below 15,000ft above sea level. The mountains are teeming with dangerous animals and hostile humanoids. From time to time, scouts from the goblin and kobold tribes living here forage into Thay.
Every now again, the tharchions of Thay send an expedition into the peaks of the mountains for those sturdy and adventurous enough to take on the task. The Sunrise Mountains are said to be virtually impassable on foot, but those who know their way about the mountain can scale the cliffsides or find another path that other inhabitants of the mountains have made. Old Raumviran towers and strongholds lie buried beneath the snow of the high slopes, as well as ancient well-like fortresses of some even older people forgotten by time. Rumors have it of a hidden passage leading through the mountains into the Endless Wastes beyond, but no such cavern has been found to this date. The caverns beneath the Sunrise Mountains are filled with horrible creatures, including nagas, chimeras, and things unspeakably worse.

I'd downloaded this a while back but forgot to vote.
Very well crafted. Lots of scenic viewpoints and nooks to custom tailor. I'm using this in my own campaign as an ascension to my mountain summit (also on the vault.) I did end up removing the snow, though, as my summit is snowless.

Excellent area! Great use of height. Nice texture job. Good work with the placeables; very nice. The only thing that I found was that at the very top of this area, there were snow-covered rocks. They look a little out of place because there is not much snow on the ground next to them.

This is nice. DL it for the lighting settings even if you won't use the area ;)

This is the most realistic mountain prefab that I have seen so far, and I've seen quite a few. There is a palpable feeling of aridity to the Surague that adds to its realism. The place is huge, with lots of potential encounter areas along the path. Despite that, walking along the pathways is never boring, and the flow of the area is well executed.
I also like the choice of music. It gave me the feeling that my character was embarking on a grand heroic adventure (even though there aren't any creatures in this prefab, of course). The Surague Escarpment is one of the best prefabs that the Vault has to offer. _________________________ Yay, I have a blog. Faithless: The Making of an NWN2 Module

I realy like the feeling to be "out of the NWN2-box". May be the textures are a bit to brown colored at all - some grassy textures to support the grasses would add something. However the terrainforming itself gives a good areafeeling and makes this map different to many others.

NEAT!!
My only criticism is the set of rocks that forgot to get snowed on located all the way at the top of the map. _________________________ NTB's Hills and Valleys Vol. 00

Not just to balance onut the 1 (pathetic...) but this is the first area I've seen with such a sense of scale and exploration. Great work _________________________ Wyrin
music 100% Environmental sounds 75%. I have been "accused" of setting my sounds way to soft, so apart from preference its probably also a "system" matter.
You should really be thanking jclef, maerduin, liso and dirtywick for conning me into this contest. I wasn't going to enter it initially :) _________________________ BouncyRock Entertainment
