This simple override reduces the size (to roughly one-third of the original) of the visual effects that appear on weapons. Acid, Holy, Frost, Lightning, Fire, Evil, and Sonic are all reduced to much less obtrusive levels, while still providing a suitable appearance for the effect.
All credit goes to Obsidian for the original effects, I merely reduced their size and density.
Due to the nature of the animations, the screenshots obviously cannot adequately portray the effects. However, it should give an idea as to the new size of the effects. The density has been reduced, so the effect varies along the length of the weapon, thus some of them look rather plain when only seeing a still shot.

Thanks for sharing. I also use it in combination with bellcrahss reduced hit effects. _________________________ 33 Voicesets for NWN1 and NWN2: Link

Splendid work! Only feels a bit incomplete by itself with the on-hit explosions still active. Fortunately Belcrush extended this mod to take care of the explosion issue as well.

Thanks for posting this. Combined with the subdued hit effects hak that I found elsewhere on the vault, this hak really makes visual effects on weaponry look good. Without this download, I would have had to remove all vfx from weapons. _________________________ Co-founder of the PW (open beta) Sea of Dragons. Excellent.
However, instructions would be nice. Basically it seems all the files go in the "Override" folder, which you may have to create.

Very nice to have the FX not beating you in the face. _________________________ "I am sitting in the smallest room of my house. I have your review before me. In a moment it will be behind me."

Oh thank you thank you thank you! This saved me a lot of time doing it myself. I great to have less over the top blingy blingy in a low magic setting. Great work. _________________________ LotR: Heroes of the Third Age

Yeah thanks. The native weapon visual fx are way too over-the-top. Would be even cooler to script this so they only "proc" their visual when the wielder was in combat.

A flaming sword is much better then a sword shaped flame. Many thanks for sharing this.

Great! This is just in the line of mods I've been looking for ever since the game was released. What's even more annoying is the 'hit'-effects, however. You know, when an obtrusive cloud engulfs your entire target. If that effect could be reduced as well, my immediate irks regarding the game will be eliminated.

The normal visual effects are a bit too much. Thanks for this.
