Tiny, swarming, eight legged freaks. Individually they are no threat, as a group they are deadly. Based on the little tiny jumping spider I see running around my house every now and then in Japan. Little fella is a great cockroach killer. Heres to you little guy. Update: Added pictures. Small one by me, large one by the fine contributor below (posts).
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 5 that made this score of 7.60 then rounded to 8.

Adrian,
Thanks! It now works like a champ! On to working on my
low-level module...
Thanks again,
David

Oops, should have send.
Then select update instances to change the appearance of
all already placed spiderling from kobolds back to
spiderlings.

David - You are going about this the right way. Once you
have changed the appearance.2da file and put it back in the
hak pack you have to change the appearance of the blueprint
item in the toolset. Select the spiderling blueprint in
custom creatures. Right click the entry and select edit.
Now you need to change the appearance entry so that it
again show up as a spiderling.
Hope this helps,
Adrian

This currently causes problems with the 1.25 patch. Because
the appearance.2da was based on a pre 1.25 version of the
appearance.2da the new entries that were added by 1.25
(Kobolds / Malar Panther) are lost as the version of the
appearance.2da in the hak overrides the NWN version of the
file.
As far as I can see every time Bioware release more content
all our exiting content is going to get broken in this way.
We desperately need a system for numbering our content so
that we avoid these clashes.
Nice work Solomani. These are ideal for freaking out low-
level characters :)

I really like the spiderlings - they appear to be just the
thing for low-level characters to face. I added them to a
hak I'm working with (the tower), but have found that it
uses 300 position in the appearances.2da file.
Unfortunately, I was also wanting to use the
newly-introduced kobolds (which now occupy 300 in the
appearances.2da file). I moved the data in the
appearances.2da to position 307 (the first user spot), but
now all of the spiderlings are kobolds. I thought that
removing the existing spiderlings (that are now kobolds)
would perhaps fix the problem. Alas, no joy.
I'm sure that I'm missing something that I need to change.
Any ideas? Will there be a new version of the spiderling
that fixes this problem if it is not something I can edit by
hand?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help...

I too would love to know how to merge hak files with these.
I already have a hak file that the No Lava Dungeon tileset
and the LOKPack collection of placeables. However I would
love to add the rat pack and these spiders to it.
(I'm building a low level module, can you tell?)
So does anyone know of a good introductory guide to
creating hak packs and .2da appearance files?

I have uploaded a new version of Solomani's Spiderlings to
the Vault, but it won't show up until they start posting
again. It doesn't reduce poly count any though (I don't
have the tools to do that right now). I'm lookin' at you
Ice Child ;)
Ya know what these things really remind me of though? The
Headcrabs from Half Life! :-D

Thanks for your kind replies. I just noticed I hole I
needed to fill for my module and so I did. I find it
strange that a lot of mundane monsters are missing.
Atleast we can make our own.

I like it. Works well.
Lost Dragon. I just got it and ran it to get a looksee. I
will see what I can do about polycounts coming down.
MacIntyre-I like your site. Puts all the creatures in one
spot. As for my Thoughteater. Is being skinned as I write
this. The Treant is being reworked to look more like a text
book Treant. The Osquip is being a pain. The animations are
taking a bit to do because of six legs on such a small
creature. But as soon as they are done I will skin it and
get it out and available.
Solomani-Keep up the good work, Dude. The community can use
all you can throw at it.

I have e-mailed an improved spiderling hak to the author.
Hopefully he will update his listing here. My version is
more in line with the small spiders listed in the 3E MM
(among other alterations). If someone could reduce the
poly count on this model, that would be a boon.

This is a great hak! I have a question though - how do I
import it into my current hak so that the creature shows
up? I combined it with the hak I ma using on my mod -
edited the appearences.2da file, and imported the erf, but
the model does not show up. Any tips please??

No picture, will add one. I am the same, if there is no
picture I will rarely download it. Was late when I
uploaded it and was just to tired to do it. Thanks
MacIntyre for providing one.

The spiderlings sound neat.
The picture issue really isn't one of "whining".
Providing a picture is a courtesy to low bandwidth users.
Not everyone is on a cable modem or has access to DSL.

Well, I don't care about the picture, I download everything
and if I like it I save it, otherwise I delete it. But then
again I stand behind what I say by providing my name and
E-Mail. :P
I like spiders, they're always hand to have around. Thanks.

Just wondering (again), why people go to the bother of
uploading without providing a picture. No picture = no
download. Get it through your thick skulls already.

Thanks, I was just wondering (again) the other night what
happened to all the good low level creatures I remembered
from 1e (sorry I avoided 2e like the plague).
IIRCC there were 5 sizes of spiders for example. Thanks
again for filling in the gaps and I will test these guys
out tonight!
