The Legends of Faerun NPC Pack features 58 Heroes, Villains and Gods from the Forgotten Realms in a easy to import erf file. Thought for DMs to easily use these characters in their campaigns, either for roleplaying or use their great powers if needed. This file was created using the 3 X_haks by Spurn (see links at commennts or search 'spurn' hakpaks here at the vault). WARNING: This file was created using the latest D&D books as a source of inspiration and information, but many of the NPCs have been modified according to the wishes of Dazeal Head DM of Legends of Faerun PW, making them more powerful than stated in these books. (Updated on 9/2003)
I must be the dumbiest guy in the world... I have dowloaded all files, placed tha .hak in the hakpak directory, placed the .erf in the erf directory and all the .bmp, ,tga .mdl, .plt in the override directoy and I have some headless NPCs.
What am I doing wrong? Is it because I have HotU installed?
Thanks for your insights...

I am having trouble loading the custom creature palettes in the Aurora tool.
When I import the erf, it loads halfway then displays this error popup:
"Access violation at address 007AF103 in module 'nwtoolset.exe'. Read of address B1FCC7A0."
I have to close the program using task mgr.
Any ideas?

So Elynor,
With this updated version would I still need the PC Pack v3?
Or are the 3 x_haks by Spurn enough?

Yes, I would also like there was a lich head available to use, but there is none in these new hak paks, though, in my opinion, this hak is far better than the old one I used though it seems it does not have liche heads.

great collection of NPCs, however I seem to be having a problem with some of the heads, namely all the lich head, Szas Tam, Samaster, and I think there was one more... Their heads are showing up as black or grey featureless faces inside the hoods, I'm not sure if that is what they are supposed to look like, I was expecting a skull face or something. I'm running SOU 1.32 I'm not even sure if it's compatible with SOU. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Again, great collection.

The new Legends of Faerun hakpaks release should fix any problem... though maybe I will have to update this file, but I will do if neccesary

I have to apologize because i have these questions and have never complimented you on your work. I've been playin DnD in the forgotten realms settings for a LONG time and the work that you put into the characters is superb. I'm interested in seeing what else you have to offer. Thanks for sharing.

ok now i've figured out how to import the erf files. Now when i try to build the module, i get an error that says index out of bounds or something like that. how can i get passed this?
Posted by Elynor ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-04 10:25:00
The way to use a erf file is while in toolset click "File" then "Import" then you select the file and open it, you will be able to choose the new stuff from the custom section of (in this case) creatures (or items, or whatever)

hi this is probably a VERY dumb question. i downloaded the erf file, put it in the erf folder and now i'm lookin to create a module using these npcs but i cant find them in the toolset. can u please help me meet eilistraee.

Thanks bud, in any case, the NPCs are more powerful than should be because that is what LoF needed, we are just sharing it with you :)
Anyway, I personally think these NPCs shouldn´t be involved in fights in most of cases, so my work is much more aimed as a tool for RPing

Hey how about y'all lay off a bit? I think Elynor did a great job with this NPC pack, and that buffing the npcs up a bit wasn't a bad idea, considering how just about everyone who plays Neverwinter Nights puts their stat points in according to how much it will help them with leveling up and such. Also, until I see y'all make a Forgotten Realms pack with 58 well done NPCs, then y'all should keep your mouths shut, y'hear?

I didn´t say I was going to make new portrait, but a pack of not scripted NPCs for the dms to use in their modules in a easy import.
Also, the heads not showing is an issue of the hak pak, not my file.
There is a way to see the heads, but I simply can´t recall, again related to the hakpak, not my file

I was also disappointed by this pack, it was one of the Downloads I was most waiting for and it proved to be a great let down. Most of the heads didn't show up and there we're NO portraits from the FRCS, or Faiths and Pantheons. I think this project can still be salvaged if you correct that, because the lack of authentic portrait and REAL NPC's (Although it must be fun to create superpowered God DM's and builder hardly every use them in they're games.) The setting is jam packed with Playable NPC's either you overlooked them or we're too lazy to make this pack worth the download.
To sum it up I think you have a great idea here but it requires more effort and planning. I'd love to help you out if more hands is what you need, but only because I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.

Yes this is really good! I apreatiate the hard work but I think some people didn't listen to the months that you have been building this about every person who posted here did not download the other file first and even afterwords still had the same problem :P. Some people just have to pay more attention to whats going on! :D

This Is A Great Package of Npc portraits you guys just dont understand how hard Elynor Worked
Posted by Elynor ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-04 06:06:00
Well, seems like nowadays there are people out there that don´t appreciate months of hard work for free, even if they are not interested in the thing...
It really makes me sad :-/

come on men you can make better stuff than this sh*t
Posted by Spurn ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-15 15:44:00
Damelon, you probably need to use some of the heads from the PCPack3. That is why they arent showing up and you are getting a hang up when trying to load it. The toolset will do the same exact thing if you try to view an area without the custom tileset loaded up as a hak pack.
Posted by Elynor ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-11 15:28:00
Sorry, I don´t know how to help you in that :(

I downloaded and loaded the hak. Now I get some models with heads and not others. When I try to place 12 of the characters (10 of the gods and 2 humans) I get a "List index out of bounds (55-58) (this is just one number, but varies for each character, tho 58 is most common. It also hangs up when I try to build the module. Any help here?
Posted by Elynor ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-07 02:03:00
Im glad you finally did it, I couldn´t help you with this, because I am not familiar with these types of problems
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-06 22:19:00
I deleted the offending clothing bluebrints (about 4 of them) and I was able to do a build. :)
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-06 19:50:00
Installed the necessary hak, and I see all of your characters now, but it still hangs when I try to build module. I get an error whenever the toolset tries to load any number of the God Clothing???
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-06 16:57:00
I kept on getting errors when trying to build my module after importing the erf. It was because I was missing the custom clothes... I think. :)
