The Town Crier is an NPC who will accept messages from PCs and play them back to other PCs. It is intended to provide a way for characters to leave messages about parties, equipment for sale, etc.
You know...not to take away from the town crier idea but this would also be great for a placeable, like a bulletin board. I'm thinking that the same idea can be implemented. "Back in the box, ye wild 2da little beasties!"
"I try so hard to behave like a lady but hopping up on stools in fear of rodents, fainting at the sight of blood or giving in to other such silly, advantageous behavior is not my first priority."
aka "MiriRawnie"
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 4 that made this score of 7.25 then rounded to 7.

Maybe I should add that the messages would stay around if
you saved and loaded, however...

The messages are stored as local variables so they are only
persistant as long as the server is up. As far as I know
you can't actually read data in from the log file so it
would be impossible to keep the messages after a server
bounce...

Haven't tried it yet. Just wanted to say this is a very
good idea. I don't quite understand... are these messages
persistant data? Like, are they written to and read from
the log file, or are they lost when a saved game is lost?

Yeah, the reason I made it was for persistent worlds where
it seemed tough to figure out who was looking for more
party members. Especially when there's a bunch of people
on-line you hate to shout "Hey! I'm level 1, anybody wanna
adventure with me?"

I think this would work great for when your playing campaigns online that
take days to complete - that way after you go to sleep and wake up you can read
a message from someone about the dragon that was killed in Fern town
before you decide to waste your time looking for that dragon :)

You could most likely use this is a mp saved game (for
regular games) but there isn't much need for it if you
know you are all going to play together.. so I suppose it
would be more for a PW type game.

Is this designed to cater towards persistent worlds
without relying on a saved game?
