The carnivorous ape is a larger, stronger, and more aggressive cousin of the gorilla. The beast is also very cunning and has a particular fondness for humanoid prey. Included in the ZIP file are the fully-animated models, textures, portraits, ERFs, and 2DAs for the ape and his trusty bone club.
Huh I forgot to vote. Well better late - Love the animations, texture & model. Well Done! _________________________ RPG-Multiverse Link

Sorry - as it turns out Static cannot hold a weapon. We want to use Type L. So replace the S (after the R) above with L and it'll work. -Tom _________________________ RPG-Multiverse Link

Your appearance.2da has the model type as F instead of Static (S). This was the cause of the poor stiff ape. Here's the correct line for anyone else having this problem:
nnnn CarnivorousApe **** CarnivorousApe c_carnape **** R S 1.55 1 1 1 NORM 1.81 2.33 0.3 0.8 1 0.3 2.2 H 1 2 1 1 po_carnape 3 9 0 0 1 60 30 head_g 0 1 _________________________ RPG-Multiverse Link

"... standing there stiff as a board in game."
I'm also having this odd problem. It looks fine in the toolset, however in-game it's immobile. Yes, I edited the 2das and I am experienced in editing them as well. I also dropped an ogreA next to it and the ogre was fine. _________________________ RPG-Multiverse Link

Correction re: my description reference for carnivorous ape: I was confusing it with another creature (which name escapes me at the moment), so scratch that missing link bit! :P -My apologies. _________________________ NWN Shield Reskins Link New Small Shields Link
First of all, thanks, Sir Otis, for ressurecting some classic creatures! I just came across this one and your roper et. al. and I'm looking forward to checking them out to include in my hak.
I must remark on the votes/comments made for this file. One voter said that their vote would have been higher had there been a module included...I think that's rather unfair of the voter, considering this has been submitted as a creature... there is no reason to short-shrift a score for lack of content that is not representative of a given category. Likewise, another voter mentioned that the face looked "disturbingly human though". The carnivorous ape is from the older editions of D&D, and was essentially described as being something more like a "missing link" rather than a true ape, despite its name.
Anyway, I appreciate Sir Otis' efforts to create this (and the other creatures) and sharing with the community. I'm also pleased folks take the time to vote; I just think the scoring could go a little easier, but this is all just my own personal two cents. ;)
P.S. I think your creatures would be better suited for the hakpack category over the creature category. If the roper hadn't been featured on the front page, I might have missed all of your submissions, and that would have been a pity. _________________________ NWN Shield Reskins Link New Small Shields Link
The Carnivorous Ape uses the c_ogreA animations, so that shouldn't be a problem. You can't just drop the model into a hak file - you have to make sure you update the appearance.2da file to make it compliant with NWN/SofU/HotU/CEP (whichever version you have). Did you install the ERF, or no? _________________________

I would have given it a higher score if it had it's own module. As is, the skin is nice and the bone is great. Good job.

Awesome... You should consider joining the Greyhawk Adventures Team. We could use your help. ;) It is not a team that holds stuff back... its for the community. Anyway, nice... I've been needing this guy!!
Awesome. This sure beats using naked half-orcs for apes. Thanks, SirOtus. _________________________ "Inconceivable!"

Nice work!
It's face looks disturbingly human though, maybe that's what it's making it scary. _________________________ Edunas Project Leader,
