This is a re-texture override for the bioware imps and mephits, it also adds a few vfx's and a neat model improvment on two of the mephits.
The fire- and watermephit now has a animated overlaying texture that gives them a uniqe new look, and a magmamephit that glows in the dark.

Really do like these. Took off .25 so I have room to improve my vote when you improve the textures (perhaps in gimp)and maybe improvise some corrections to the imperfections of the models.
I know that's a bit impertinent, and I don't expect you to indulge my impulse impunity, but the impact of so many puns may just keep the imps happy ;-) _________________________ Rolo Kipp Humor is the only viable response to pain

An interesting set of overrides. I really like the glow in the dark guy. The extra VFX's add a great deal to these critters. _________________________ Vault Submissions | Arnheim | Beyond Vives

Wow. Love the additional improvements you made to your IMProvements.

Like Worm, I originally thought this was just a minor improvement and debated whether it was worth using, but after converting all the imps and mephits to non-replacing hak versions and rolling through the toolset appearance list so I could compare the old and new models, I see that these subtle improvements make a big difference in the overall quality of the model, and testing the new imps in game has borne this out. Thanks for the great work. The more stock NWN creatures that are reskinned this way, the better all our modules will be. _________________________ Realms Of Destiny PW

Like them, use them, but think they should have some textures re-worked for the sake of realism. Detailed skins are the hype nowadays.

Looks like I missed 'soon as possible'. This is definatly great for any module/campaign were you will see these guys, it really helps do to the great design and coloring. _________________________ @===============================================@
Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.
This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)

heh, just changing my vote, after using these for 2 weeks..I had to install NWN for a friend so we could join up and play LAN. as were playing (we are side by side and I can see his monitor) I notice his game looked like crap, his familiars were horible, his goblins...ughh, his undead skeletons hurt my eyes...huh, I thought and then realized he didn't have any overrides like this running in his game..what a difference these small projects make on a big scale!! I just wanted to pipe in that this is worth a 10, (sure its not groundbreaking in the traditional sense but it truly does raise the level of detail in the game to be on par with many new games recently released and that to me is 'outstanding, a must have'.
keep projects like this up (but don't stop making tilesets six_six_six!! those are by far the best kind of content for many a builder

Impressive!!! The Quasit and the Magma ones are really good!

Yeah. Just cloned and rescaled the body parts slightly, positioned them all with 0 0 0 and parented them to the correct node. Should've been fairly simple.
However, all the body parts (except the ones that still use the special layer) showed up ingame rotated at weird angles. Looked awful, so I just kept the torso, head and arms.
I might try again using skinmesh to follow the animations rather than parenting them. Only way I can think of that it -might- work. _________________________ --- What can Q do for you? --- Undead Redux 2 | Wild Woods Tileset
The partial coverage of the fire and water is because sixthrice couldn't get the legs to animate corectly and as far as i know he hasnt found a way around it.

Ah! Alright, I'll have to re-apply the changes to the CEP's 2da file then. Thanks for the heads up. :)
And since I'm posting yet again; I was also curious whether it's intended that the fire and water mephit are only partially covered with the animated textures? It appears that only the torso and the biceps are affected by it.
I'm just wondering if this is a design choice or because of certain technical limitations?
Nice work though, it's definitely worth at least 7-8 for blowing new life into these small outsiders. I'd rate it higher, but these voting standards are so messy that I almost don't dare to. :)
The 2da is for the ice mephit.. if you check it in the game you will see what its for ;)
About the magma, i made it really dark because i wanted it to be really dark its supposed to look kinda like hardend lava with cracks.. _________________________ My Vault stuff

Edit: That reminds me. Why is there an appeareance.2da file included in the package? As far as I can tell it doesn't really serve any purpose, unless I missed something in the columns.

I wasn't aware that adding that "extra coating", as displayed on the fire and water mephits, was possible in NWN1! This is definitely a treat for the eyes and the mind.
The new textures for the mephits are a positive improvement, the same applies to the darkened texture on the imp. However, I feel that the texture for both the magma mephit and the quasit fall out off the boat. The former looks nice in the dark, thanks to the added glow, but in any other conditions it kinda hard to make out its facial features, so to speak. And as for the quasit... well, I feel that its texture is far too dark and green (see the horns). Though the original texture isn't great either. If I may make a suggestion: I'd try to reach for the middle-ground between the two. :)
