Description
Greyhawk: Verbobonc (GreyNet) is a persistent world module set in the World of Greyhawk, the original Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting created by the father of fantasy roleplaying himself, Gary Gygax. More specifically the modules more than 400 areas stretch across the entirety of the Viscounty of Verbobonc, with its main city of Verbobonc located on the banks of the Velverdyva River and numerous scattered towns and hamlets, and far beyond into the surrounding lands climbing west into the jagged peaks of the Lortmil Mountains, east into the depths of the Gnarley Forest, and south through the cairn-dotted Kron Hills into the ancient Welkwood and the fetid humaniod-infested Suss Forest. Also within this richly developed region lies the immortally infamous Temple of Elemental Evil and the familiar areas connected with that much loved classical AD&D scenario including the ruined moat house, the dark sorted town of Nulb, and the village of Hommlet with the Inn of the Welcome Wench.
Not only does the setting of Greyhawk: Verbobonc (GreyNet) harken back to the earlier days of AD&D but that theme is carried through in the style of game play emphasized on the module. General game play as well as the continuing plotlines ran by our team of DMs focus on roleplaying and character development with a strong PnP-flavor. Characters start their adventuring careers at 1st level in the bustling city of Verbobonc and level progression is generally slow with the majority of ones experience points being earned through taking part in the continuing plotlines ran by our DMs, lucrative roleplaying bonuses (earned both in-game and for forum posts which add depth to your character), the completion of personal quests, as well as in the crucible of combat. Characters will develop and mature over a lengthy period as they raise through levels 1 8, with those that attain levels above 9 - 12 being heroes in their own right, and any beyond 15th being the stuff of nearly living legend. Along with the emphasis on supporting a strong cast of player characters with intricate personalities and backgrounds, magic and the power of the Greyhawk deities remains in our module something at which to marvel. Persistent magic items are truly to be coveted as they are rare and wondrous things, being typically only awarded to characters by DMs in the context of an ongoing plotline or as a reward for the completion of a meaningful personal quest. Every level you gain, every enchanted or blessed item that you quest for, every chapter of your characters life that you write will be truly a rewarding experience as you watch them develop into whomever you choose them to become!
If you like the sound of Greyhawk: Verbobonc (GreyNet) we invite you to visit our forum to learn more and most importantly to join us online (direct connect IP above or via Gamespy under the Roleplay channel) for some old-school AD&D inspired fun. A detailed knowledge of the World of Greyhawk is not necessary though it will add to your enjoyment of the module and we always wholeheartedly welcome new ideas, new points of view, and most importantly new gaming friends to our world!

@ Miranda 1969 -- ah, too bad; you may have picked a "bad" week I know the Olympics stole most of my time and kids getting ready for school is another "excuse". Evenings in the US are generally best. Monday evening is also more popular if you are looking for a less structured "pick-up" game. :)
You can check in (and join) the forums, which are fairly active and perhaps get something going that matches your available time?

NOBODY is ever playing

Dm's are great , not only do they run regular sessions but they find time to add in personal quests for PC's. It may be a low magic world but you can quest for items and get your name forever etched in the world. If you like PNP D&D, you will love this world.

What a wonderful world this is! If you want to "develop" your hero (in the Greyhawk setting), then this is the place for you. Go alone or for even more fun, with a group. The DM's are fun and easy to work with and really put on a good show!
This server seems to be just what I'm looking for. The only problem is that NOBODY is ever playing. Where did everybody go? I can't even register at the greynet forum for some reason.
I am trying to install the hackpacks but I keep getting "The winzip wizard cannot open this file, it does not appear to be a valid archive." What am I doing wrong here? The helper hackpack downloaded and installed with ease.
Hey, I just joined, so if any1 can teach me the ropes That would be great.

I've been playing on NWN online for 3 years and on this server for 6 months. There is good dm presence and they interact with the player in and out of the game. The players are online at different times of the day, and the ones I have met have been great.

I just started on this server, looking to bring some friends from a RL PnP game to a good, RP based PW, and I had a great welcome already and really enjoy the ambiance of the server.

I'm a bit biased since I helped build this module, but I've been playing in the Greynet family of servers for about 5 years now, and the Verbobonc module currently has the best crack team I've ever seen; great roleplayers, interactive fun DMs, and near-daily changes to the module that keeps things interesting and fun.

I believe that I am the more young together with Tania, but the companionship has been very good, and always we have felt very liked playing, very good server in whom to spend very good moment.
I adore all the prominent figures, from the small halfling, up to the grumpy orc.
I love you guys!!!

One year playing in the best server. We adore this server, though we are very limited by our language, have enjoyed more playing this server that to games that usually we play with companions of the same language.
Thanks to all, we are charmed with it.

Relatively inexperienced at online RPing, mainly because i didnt feel comfortable on other servers, that
isnt the case here. DMs are hands-on and helpful and all players (that i've met) are approachable and friendly. The RPing and dialogue are great, interesting and many times just plain fun/funny.

Am not a new player to NWN in any sense, but there is no doubt that this is one of the greater servers I've had the luck to play on. The people are welcoming, players in depth and DM's helpful, and is all around a realistic and fun world to enjoy.
I ama new player, who got as far as creating a character and pressing the play button, but was stopped because the module was missing a file - cep2_vl.tlk. Any ideas on how to get that?

I've been playing on this server for 2 years now, and DMing and building for 1. It will always be my favorite place to role-play. Come on over to our house, it's about as close to PnP as we can make it, but you'll have to get your own snacks.

All the players on Verbobonc come to relax and have fun through roleplaying in the great world of Greyhawk. Everyone seems very helpful and roleplays as realistic as possible.

I've been involved with the Greyhawk server since it was originally built in 2001 before it was named Greyhawk lords....this sup-er RP heavy mod is an off shoot of that original server...and the great work done on it reflects the care and intrest shared by the delv team.... if you want to play in a world of greyhawk were you can one day become a lord or a guild leader of the head of a church..check this place out...
I see... I used to be a part of the dev team on GL about 3 years ago... developed areas and some small DMing activities. Good luck with your server.

I am new to the server. Only just started playing on it this week. I found it to be a very friendly place. Established players are very quick to offer help. Also to engage in RP. There is a ton to explore. I have run into a few DM's and they have been helpful as well.
If you are looking for a place to relax and just play. A place with low magic, little emphasis on power gaming and a lot of emphasis on RP...then I suggest you check it out.

Yes this server was linked with GL and WGH for about 2 years. It is the only one that has survived. Currently developers are working on fine tuning and enhancing what is currently in the module. It is heavily player drivened and currently there are 3 regular DMs and a couple others that run quests from time to time as well. RP is key and forming friendships along the way. We all play this game to relax and for personal enjoyment and that is what drives us to continue to work on it. Since RL seems to always get in the way, many events are held on weekends, but DMs will also run events during the week depending on player traffic.
Hello and yes it does. Unfortunately Greyhawk Lords (GL) is no more but happily Greyhawk: Verbobonc remains active. We are interested in establishing linkages with other World of Greyhawk servers that share a similiar philosophy so as to expand GreyNet to encompass as much of the Flanaess as possible!
