You have travelled along the Rauvin River to reach these unexplored lands of Luruar. In your search for adventure and bold deeds, a purpose, and new people you step off the ferry into a world of danger and glory. The diverse population invites you to travel through the forbidding wilderness and face great perils in these unconquered lands beset by war-hungry orc hordes, an array of bloodthirsty monsters and other unseen dangers.
Legends of Luruar aims to offer each player new friends to share an immersive roleplaying experience with. Players will have many opportunities to have fun, with our DM team running several event each week. These adventures range from pubs and campire talks to perilous dungeon crawls, mysterious elven ruins and deadly crypts inhabited by powerful liches, and so much more. Become a part of guilds and organizations, such as an institution of magi, a shady guild of thieves or an honorable order of knights.
We have a wide range of magical items, both to be discovered on your journey or crafted and magically imbued by the players themselves. We have a unique ability score system that will allow players to explore new character personalities and the stories of your characters, both their past and futures, might help to forge new places to explore in the Silver Marches.

I'm another one of the long time players who game back because I had great memories of the time spent there.
The current band of miscreants ;-) are a lot of fun.
I hope you'll come and visit.

For a module that, at it's core, has gone up and down repeatedly since NWN's inception, Luruar is another in a long line of similar servers. Little has changed, map-wise, since the very first creation, but with the expansion packs having come out in that time, along with the Community Expansion Pack, it's by far more visually appealing, and allows for more creativity by the team in changing what would otherwise be the same rehashed 'Quest Areas'.
Despite the ups-and-downs, and several splits along the way, a number of drama storms and hosting issues, the DM Team's still working towards providing a fun, welcoming atmosphere. It's perhaps better with a smaller playerbase, since they notice new ones a lot more, and give 'em a wave.
The eighty-one-point system they have for attributes (All six attribute scores when added up equal 81 at the end of it) is a good way to not only allow for more creative, and thus more interesting, player characters (Charismatic Fighters, on my NWN? Wise rogues? Wizards that don't have 8 str 8 con? ON MY NWN?!), but also a good way to touch base with any member of the DM Team who are on at the time.
On the topic of the DM Team, the DM-run events are unique in and of themselves, with thought put into them, and a number of chances for player characters to shine. While lately they've been focused on more grandiose campaigns, they throw enough smaller interactions around to make the world feel a bit alive.
And as I understand it, the gear is being adjusted to being more powerful, which is a good thing. A couple of years ago, having a +1 or +2 weapon was an achievement in and of itself.
While I haven't played in a while (Real life time constraints, you see), and while I have had disagreements with the DM Staff in the past (Some of them rather vicious and venemous), I was never once threatened or had vengeance taken upon me, so I'm not sure what Rolic's actually talking about on that end.
So, in total, I'm giving it a ten. It's builders all left due to creative differences to how they believed the server should be, and how other members of the team thought it should be, so I won't hold the fact most of the maps are still the same since forever against this current incarnation.

A good server, interesting quests with a unique approach to the D&D Forgotten Realms world.

"Classic server with lots of nostalgia, it has been however hampered by near non-existant building support, and an extremely cliquey DM and playerbase. Give it a try, but don't expect anything."-RolicsRillics
We have an active builders team, a scriptor, and I find charges of cliques laughable from someone who will not even have a public profile. It's easy to snipe anonymously
I'm Kaitlinn, a Legends of Luruar dm, and we have no cliques, dm or playerwise. We welcome all to come play.

just started playing but this is a gread server and a frendley dms
I do not play PWs so I didn't know the existence of this one until yesterday's new entry on the Vault's home page jumped to my eye.
I am developing a nwn2 single player module. Although I am just at the very beginning (yep, I am a noob!), I was going to title the mod "Lore of Luruar" because it is based on the lore of the Silver Marches, the North and the Savage Frontier D&D books.
Now I am embarassed because I realise that my prospected title is extremely similar to the one of your gameworld... I think it is just correct on my part to inform you about this and to ask you if you mind that I keep the title... the fact is that I grew affectionate to it and that Ihave even opened a blog with this name, so I would be sorry to change it.
Please, kindly let me know whether this is a problem for you! And if this entry is not the correct place to adress my queries, I would be grateful if you could indicate to me the person(s) to contact directly.
Thank you and best regards,
Nacaal

A great place to not just to play, but a grand community to make friends too, as Luruar is not just a gaming place, but a community too
