Death
This is a permanent death server where resurrections are rare.
The Daggerford Persistent World is the official home of the HCR (Hardcore 3E D&D Ruleset) where roleplay is strictly enforced and death is permanent. Our team has more than 30 years combined experience running and playing on MUDs and MOGs. Our frontier town in the north of the Forgotten Realms is a living, breathing setting where roleplaying means more than killing monsters. Initiative is not simply rewarded with points and treasure: we give players an opportunity to truly change their world and carve out their own little corner of Faerun by steel, spell, coin, or faith. The NWN engine has been heavily tweaked: for the sake of realism, little works the same way as it does in the original game. We invite players by application only to ensure quality roleplay. Please mention your motivation and RP experience when applying - we're always looking to welcome new members into our great community!

While we may have somewhat strict roleplay guidelines in DF, we try to help those new to RPing out... it should be a place where people's RP abilities grow.

This is a great server. The best server I have played on ever. I have no doubt that the exclusive mix of good rp'ers ,experienced dm's and a well made and thought out enviroment have made this server what it is. I really want to thank HOT for accepting me into the guild and letting me play on Daggerford. Thank you :)

*Hugs HOT, Ganryu, Aes and the other DF DM Team Members he can't remember in his just-waken-up stupor*
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
Heh, all joking aside though, I came to this lil' server a few months ago from another and I haven't looked back or anywhere else since. The hard-core rules took me by surprise at first, but after taking the time to learn what NOT to do {which is usually something you shouldn't do anyway, but other servers let you do out of sheer not-caring} I can whole-heartedly say:
There's no competition for this server. None.

Daggerford and the community it frames are the best online roleplayers to-date, *period*. The DMs know their stuff, and play even-handedly (no more DM/player hanky-panky from DMs who can't seperate their DMing from their PCs). The players are ALL mature, thoughtful, and practiced. The roleplaying is *strict*. If you are DF material, then this won't even come up for you- you'll do it naturally. It does keep our small quasi-RP-utopia clean from 'undesirables' in a most effective manner.
Many rp servers say the aren't for powergamers and focus on roleplay. It falls flat when you see the server in ooc limbo as soon as DMs aren't logged in. Not here. The *players* enforce RP, and tolerate nothing. I can't fully say how glad this made me to find Daggerford.
Want character development? Want DMs that respond to player-driven quests and storylines- *even impromptu ones*? Want a community where language and history counts for something? Want a place where you are finally free of ub3r-733t d00dz? Can you stomach long conversations and thrill to the exchange of ideas and not just projectiles?
If that's you- You've got a home in Daggerford. Come on down.

If you've ever played, or wanted to play, a serious PnP campaign - you owe it to yourself to give this place a try. It is not easy, it is totally in-character (strictly enforced). The DMs are some of the best in the world. The builders are incredibly talented. I swear you will feel like you have stepped into another world....

Roleplay- Daggerford
Though a Password is required for entrance, and Guild Membership on the Daggerford Player's Guild is required for the password.
Just sumbit a short application telling us about yourself, your RP experience, and what you are looking for in a NWN Persistant RP World.

What is this listed under? roleplay?
Posted by Ganryu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-18 13:09:00
No age requirement, we have players ranging from 16 to well into their elder years. As for Staal's post about the list of things, it was not a required list, it was just a tool for those who wished to try to get into their characters a little deeper.

Is there still an age-requiremnt? I remember back when only 30+ year olds were accepted.
Posted by Staal ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-18 10:46:00
I left when they came up with a list of things you should atleast know about your pc, like his/her favorit color, and in my opinion stupid things like that, well i must say that was just a bit over the edge for me, good roleplayers and dms though but hey its supposed to be fun roleplay and adventure not a new cyber life

I have been on Daggerford for around 2 weeks. I must say I now call it home. They have done an amazing job getting the world to deel real. Even with the constraints of the NWN engine. The people there stay in character and it really makes you feel at home. Adventuring is not for the Timid, but when your character dies it is a story that can be told by your party members at the Dragonback Inn.

Greetings!
Aye, Daggerford is heaven for serious roleplayers. The more you put in it, the more rewarding it gets. But the disatvantage is, that you'll spend lots of time playing DF, if you are accepted ;).
Bye,
Basty

As a long term player to Daggerford, I just have to jump in here.
Daggerford is indeed not for everybody.
It promotes roleplay in true PnP tradition. Experience Points are the last thought upon everyones mind. Character development, politics, intrigue top the list.
The Dm'ing is top notch. The build team additions to the rural areas [trees, plants etc] are jaw-dropping.
No, you will not enjoy it if you intend to power-level. In such case, this simply is not the server for you. However, if you wish to enjoy some solid roleplay in one of the strongest communities around - well you might just find a home.
Tath.

I cannot stress enough that only the most rabid of rabid role-players should even try to play here. Experience isn't even awarded on a regular basis and there is little to NO forgiveness for out-of-character behavior of any type, even calling someone by their name unless they've spoken it to you. It's an excellent venue to show-off the HCR rule-set, but an exercise in futility, frustration and annoyance for 99% of the population who would play these kinds of games.
Having said that, if youre that 1% who is the ultimate in role-players, this is your world. They have some really cool ideas and have implemented them very well. The staff behind Daggerford is mostly, with the exception of the missing founding member Arch, the group behind the core portions of the Hard Core Rule Set.
Heed the warning before applying to play there; personally Ive enjoyed logging on from time to time to see what new functionality theyve added to the world, but Im not into the agony that the game play there requires. To each their own.
