Dark Century is a Persistent World Experience running a custom ruleset. Unlike many other 'high fantasy' servers where nearly everyone is walking around with magical items of extreme power, Dark Century puts more of the focus on character development (both in roleplaying and in skill\feat\ability score selection). We are devoted to creating a realistic environment in which players can adventure and inspire player driven communities, economies and events. Those just looking for an enjoyable fair and balanced game can find it here while those looking for a platform for a larger roleplaying experience can enjoy such an environment as well. We use an entirely custom mana-based spell system and are in the process of implementing a new player housing system as well. Check our our website at www.Dark-Century.com for the server IP and to read the FAQ!

Been playing here a long time, and I really enjoy it.
It's a place where you can roleplay, and be sure everyone who's on isnt level 20 without being under the harshness of HCR.
A lot of great people, and a great group of DM's who'll listen to what you have to say... not to mention a great website where you can post what you'd like to see on the server... a lot of it gets implemented.
Either come in and read the rules, or just go for it and pester other players for info... we're pretty used to it by now.
Hope to see you around

Really, it's too big to let me summarise it in a few words. Come by urself, and enjoy it.

Those looking for a change from run of the mill servers should look no further. There is a learning curve, but its not too steep. Anyone that is into telling your characters story and having other players help you evolve and influence your character's life your character as they grow should give this place a try. Its an excellent roleplaying atmosphere, but very relaxed. Ive tried tons of roleplaying servers, most of which have an aura of rules and regulations for staying in character. It is decidedly not the case here. you cant help but to have fun roleplaying just by meeting and talking to the other players.
If its monsters your after, you will find plenty of hunting and exploring to be done here.
If your tired of a server full of "glowing swords of death +5", you would be at home here, where everyone has an equal chance at obtaining magical items. There is no "uber" or "leet" on Dark-Century. Which is what I like most about it. Low magic makes it more about the characters, less about the gear. Give it a shot, you wont be sorry

I have to agree that this server is unquestionably unique - in a very good way. The players are a very social bunch, usually in very good in-character roles. I find it very interesting how many people we get from all across the world, from japan to australia, france, spain, west and east coasts of the US. We see very few 'surfers' here. Usually someone comes in and if they spend the time to do just a little bit of research so that the modified systems for XP and spells and chests, etc. are understood, then people tend to stay. For months and months on end.

Talk about a campaign that weeds out the idiots...this is
it! Here the main reason to play is to enjoy comradery,
role-playing, and something different. You won't have
your usual "make level 20 in 1 week" type deal here. You
want new spells, items, and worthy DMs, then I will be
seeing ya.

If you want something different and are looking for a strong
social community with a lot of roleplay but not a leveling
race this server is recommended .
Try to remember we are not HardCore roleplayers who use
elvishe or orcishe or even dwarvishe cause of the
multicultural society here .
The module cause of the slow leveling and no magic items
creates a different but satisfing leveling system like
the old PnP games where each level is treasured and put to
full use .
Definetly one i recommend for the Veterans of NWN out there
who think they know it all or seen it all .

Cool site, good spell system in the works if you want
something different from NWN. Only beef is that it takes a
while to lvl, apart from that ALL GOOD! :)

I was tripping. 8-)

These are all reviews from actual players. I have had no
influence over any of them.
The reason it appears that no one is on the server on
Gamespy is because we use login servers that redirect
players into the main server. The login servers usually
report 0 players (since players are almost immediately
transfered over after any modifications, security checks,
etc. are made).
Dark Century has been running for many months now. It's
not a server that is just "getting started". Drop in and
see for yourself what everyone is raving about.

Is it me, or do some of these posts sound like someone
hired an advertising commitee to help them get started, or
did it themselves, or something. Never have I seen so many
posts commenting on a module or PW in such a way as to
remind me of headline quotes for critics "I stopped in and
have been hooked ever since..." says Athkoac "Without
question this is truly for those who are seeking
Neverendingwinter Nights." raves Dragonlamb.

Unless I'm tripping, no one is ever on this server.

I was so excited when I first read about NWN. However,
when I first started playing, I was a little disappointed.
then I found Dark Century. Now I might have to quit my
job, because I like it so much! No RPG experience I have
had since the books and dice days has come close.

O crap. Nevermind my last post, I was talking about a
different persistant world and I posted on the wrong
board. Sorry!

I have a question. If someone could email me the answer
I'd appreciate it. The hak you need to use is an
executible file. Does it alter the game in a way that will
affect playing other mods?

I've played on many a MUD and online game and had to search
a while before I found a good place to play NW. There is a
good DM group, the game is modified and has a lot of great
things to offer. The setting is well thought out and is
growing everyday. The player base is growing an is a good
roleplaying environment with some PK. It's deffinately
worth your time.

Without question this is truly for those who are seeking
Neverendingwinter Nights. Right from the very beginning, it
places you right into the heart of all the action. As you
gain experience and begin to master your character, you
will come to find new challenges and innovations that
better allow you to use Nwn for roleplaying.
For veterans and hardcore gamers who would like to invest
quality time in an outstanding roleplaying environment.

This is a truly unique server that everyone should check
out. There is a learning curve for discovering what you
thought you knew was incorrect but that adds to the
discovery and Rolplaying expeirience.
See you there and watch your purse. Reana Talon leader of
the Theives of the Silent Shadow.
