Well, I played on Haze for a long time, so that says something, but after leaving, I couldn't recommend it to anybody as a place to play, so I'd have to rate it a 5 or less.
The team has moved on to a new project in any case... or more a continuation of the existing one. In any case, it comes with a new name. That might make for a change in some attitudes there, but I doubt it. I hope that those I considered friends there will enjoy themselves.

This is the best PW I've ever played - the only one I've played consistantly. HAZE has a great community of players who really help promote roleplay and support other player's character ideas. The DM team are superb. This is exactly what I was looking for in a campaign world; hard-core, tough, and therefore rewarding. I remember every battle I've fought, every character I've met, all of it. I can't say that about most worlds, or single player modules, even the official campaigns. While many game worlds make you feel like you are just another number, queuing up for a chance to hack the next monster; or, make you feel inadequate because everyone else is 25 levels higher than you, in HAZE you can be somebody from day 1. You get out more than you put in, as a player, I find.
If you want to try it, I suggest you visit the forums first - just a personal thing I think will help.
Pretty much everything Garret said. Great roleplayers, great dms, with highs and lows for both. Feels less like D&D and fantasy than a visual chat room most of the time. Players are fanatical about rp for the sake of rp, about realism for the sake of realism, instead of entertainment.

A perfect 10! Deep roleplay, rich environments, great community. I hope it lasts forever!

GREAT!!!!!
what more can I say. The above person has come points but in all honesty I dont think they really experanced HAZE, its not about fast lvls and slaying 100's of goblins every other day.. Its about player driven plots and adventure.
all i can say is yep its hard core.
Yep it is heavy rp
the rest is what YOU make it.

Briefly played this, not my cup of tea. I'm not going to vote, because quite frankly everyone more or less votes tens for the pw they're currently on - but to those curious about the pw;
-Ultra low level, start level is two. Enjoy being there. For a long time. Even after you gain xp you need a dm event to 'level' - and, you will in all likelyhood have to wait for that as well.
-Action. Not much of it, what bit you run into will have you cycling through characters pretty quickly unless you have a strong build.
-RP. Dinner table rp, that basically sums it. It's not a derogatory remark, but with the base difficulty and nature of the world 'dungeoneering rp' just never happened from what I saw.
-Players; Mostly nice, like every world you get your fair share of drama queens, but largely the player base was at least civil. I can honestly say that at the very least that I didn't see any one player that would have sent me running from the mod if it had suited me better.
-Dm's; Let me first say, I never managed to get banned or anything, if I was trying to troll i'm sure I could manage much better.Largely the dm's struck me as an entirely mixed bag. A few were really exceptional, like Quake, and there were a few that just made me want to claw my eyes out dealing with them. I never stick around on because of dm's, but I can say a few of these ones definately helped me out the door.
Overall, If I were to vote, I would probably vote it around 7 - it had some interesting concepts, but the gimmics weren't enough to make the mod interesting, for myself at least, and some of the particular rules didn't suit me (In particular; the permission to perma another pc rule - I personally saw what i percieved as bias in who could and couldn't be killed among the player base). If you would tend to enjoy inn rp, this mod would probably suit you but if you prefer a mesh of RP and action then ther's without doubt mods better suited for you.

The best role-play experiences I've ever had online was on Haze. I truely recommed it to anyone that truely loves role-play.
You'll get addicted to Haze after the first week, and you'll start calling yourself and others Hazites. Once that happens your hooked.

A great PW from the makers of Daggerford, with a great hardcore ruleset and heavily RP-oriented gameplay. Two thumbs up!

What can I say? The Team is the best there is. The players are simply outstanding the the Builders have brought such beauty into the world.

This server is without doubt the best roleplaying server in all NWN. Come join us now, and experience it yourself!

The server is excellent for roleplay of any kind, and the scripting work along with the map building is of high quality.
No roleplayer in NWN should exist without at least checking out the server for a bit. :)

Quite simply the best, most sophisticated, marvelously wonderful Persistant-World I've had the pleasure to play on!
A must for any NWN multiplayer!

It is a fantastically built, maintained, and played server.
Very sophisticated all around too, from the scripting to the monsters, to the Role-Playing.
It's a marvelous place to be.

Without a doubt the best server that NWN has to offer.
I've never seen a team of players, DMs, scripters builders and project leads (can't forget the HOT) as dedicated as this one.
Daggerford was exellent and I was sad to see it end,
Haze is awesome and as addictive.

I'm not sure about everything else, but this project offers more opportunity for creative freedom than I've ever seen, though it's easy to forget that, at times.

Its a great place to play. I've not seen anything else like it. Give it a try, and see how long you can live....

I second Arriba's comments, below. Haze is far (FAR) more than just some NWN persistent world - I've seen persistent worlds in the past, and they're laughable efforts when compared to Haze, where one gets the feeling that the world is real, and, like a real world, reacts to their actions.
If you're looking for a good place to roleplay, where your efforts won't feel wasted, and where the players, DMs, and environment itself will invoke a whole host of emotions in you whilst you play, Haze is, if I might say,

An excellent server with a high level of roleplay. We currently lack some numbers, but the quality of the server remains high and players active at most times.

The only server that's ever managed to hold my attention. Anything that considers itself a roleplay server should take a look here to see if it truely is.
However, it is by no means for everyone. Loving Haze (and it is a love thing) will involve acceptance that this is the NWN interpretation to realism. Realistically, not everybody is a hero and, realistically, not everyone is a paladin, or a high level ravanger of world etc.
For that matter, not everone is an adventurer (Indeed, adventuring is VERY dangerous in a perma-death setting)and adventurers aren't on call twenty four hours a day.
Try it: If it doesn't hook you within a week or two, then it never will.
If it does hook you, it'll be very difficult for you to unhook yourself.
P.S. The server unwent something of a stale patch with the transition of beta to version 2. Thanks to our luberly new generation of DMs and players, in my own humble opinion, we've dug out of that.
((PPS I miss Garrett))

I have to say, my review for this server is very mixed. The roleplayers are typically very good, and there's no lack of quality. However - I feel it falls drastically short in the measure of actual entertainment. Very little seems to go on - and while tavern RP is great, it seems to become dry fast. While there are events, and they do cater to most players, at times they seem cliquiesh, with older players recieving most of the attention. This seems to stem from failed interactions with new players, and while understandable, could be better. However - when one does prove themselves, there are many older players willing to embrace them with open arms.
Another source of discontent stems from the MDM, or HOT. While he has put a great deal of effort into the server, his scatching remarks against players, which, while may be accurate, seem less than professional. While this is certainly a hobby, there's something to be said for keeping the peace, and, at times, Hot fails at this. However - he does an excellent job of maintaining neutrality amongst the DM team and the players. Very rarely will judgements be passed that seem biased, HOT just isn't the type who's willing to take shit, which has its pluses and minuses.
However - from my experience - the current state of the mod is one that is not as fun as its previous days. While the consolidated state is effective, the current lack of any real equipment over any manangeable time period makes adventuring a gigantic stretch - something that is extreamly fun due to the added danger of perma-death. Combined with a gov't that seems to remain distanced from the average PC, the current incarnation of Haze lacks the charm and sense of danger of the older incarnations.

Impressive scripting, but relatively boring and simple RP. Most everyone RPs some type of badass sword slinger, whether it be a good, neutral, or evil aligned type character. It has the best setup for RP... but its players or something are entirely too uncreative and cliche.

What dungeons and dragons wasn't meant to be, is a glorified chat room, which is what most "Role Playing" PW servers are. Most of the role playing should be done when your out adventuring. If players want to go out and adventure "Hack and Slash" they should be allowed to without a DM killing them.
What i do like about Haze is that the level cap is low. Having anything over level 20 is power gaming, 16th level is plenty for any server, for Haze it's 12.
Equipment on most servers are way overpowered, a +3 weapon should be extremely rare, +2 should be rare for armor.

-The- RP server. No other server will bring you the same level of greatness if roleplaying is your first priority. With a player driven economy, a true player government, and the ability to have your actions shape the world; Haze proves to utterly destroy any other 'role play' PW on NWN.
