Hard Core Rules govern death. Players go to a fugue plane. 1st and 2nd level characters can respawn without DM or other player aid, but still with an XP/Level penalty. 3rd level and higher must either be raised by companions, or pray to a god (DM) if one is available.
Islands of Destiny has been around for about 7 months now. We are looking to expand our player base, and bring those looking to roleplay on board to join us. The Server Vault has been wiped as of the release of SoU, so everyone has started over. HCR3 Rules are in effect. Loot, XP, and Magic are all low.

Well... I thank everyone for all of their comments and time they have spent with us. But, as all of our regular players know, we are now offline.
I have taken down the server for personal reasons, and it will not be coming back.
Thanks to all of our players, and thanks to everyone here at the vault. Most of all, thanks to my wife, WebWidow for making the as much a part of her as it was me.

Best online NwN server I've encountered ever ever with ace role players. This is a big hit of a game with an in depth , challenging , very well thought scenario which will blow your mind away . Not for the faint hearted or easily daunted ! ! ! All thanx and praise to the overlords Gravedigger and especially Webwidow for the commitment and effort they put into the site. There is not much you can say about The Islands Of Destiny. Its mind blowing. The last server you will pick. The owners of this server are high class and and are second to no one.

This is one great server....
Though I haven't played any others cause a friend pointed me at this one I don't feel the need to try any other at the moment. That's saying something...
The rollplaying is great on the server and you can count on the DM's to surprise you time and again if you put some effort in a background or story they can work with. Of course, since there are more players than DM's they won't watch you contantly. But they did surprise me a few times, once after a very sticky goodbye with my in game future wife in an inn for instance when we hoped no one was watching..... well gravedigger was and fainted dead away *grin*
Powerfull items are very rare and always handed out by the DM's and there are some orders and organisations you can join around (Though mostly they approach you for membership)
If you die than you stay dead untill raised by a friend or DM, though the first always costs a level and the second ussually as well. That can be frusterating but it keeps you on your toes and gives a sense of accomplishment if you do make a level and keep it.
For the rest I second most of the humble comments of G of G. *grin* If you look for fast levels, loads of items and hack ans slash all the time you'd better look elsewhere. If you want to rollplay and really build your character, welcome.....

GD you have the best PW on the net! The "regular" cast that inhabits your isle are among the best RP'ers I have ever had the honor to be associated with. This says alot about the quality of you server. Cheerio! Keep up the good work! I can't wait until i can get to go to other islands! I have been on Freeport for over a week, I'm still level 2! But absoultly having a great time of it!

I must say that I have enjoyed playing this server. I have played others but this one hands down is one of the best.
My very first day of playing I started out exploring the city of Freeport (Your starting point). The town itself is well laid out and has plenty of atmosphere. I equiped myself with as much as I could buy and decended into the sewers by myself. I was doing quite well until a giant dung beatle got me with a lucky shot and preceded to send me into the afterlife. Upon raising I found myself in a strange location. I was becoming distraut and became lost and ventured into a haunted house and sat down in a chair about ready to log off. In through the door a town guard came through (DM controled I assume) and stated, "Boy you look lost."
He proceded to show me the way back into town.
I have played this server for one week now and have not been disapointed at all. Other PW servers I have played the players have thier own "clicks" and treat you as if your another NPC. In Islands of Destiny, I have yet to meet someone who will not give you the time of the day. The staff & players are first rate. If your willing to role-play and have a good time this PW server is for you.

Where do I start.. so much to say!
This is, in my not so humble opinion, the best PW server online at the moment, and far exceeds the expectations. If you are after the closest thing to PnP on an open server, this is for you. The focus is on low magic, quality/mature RPing and it has a friendly community. Magic items are available, but most items of power are granted by the DMs
There is a zero tolerance for the idiots that want to exploit and cheat their way up, which makes it all worth while. Fairness for all means that each and every person has a level playing field, and it stops the bad atmosphere that goes with that behaviour. I would ask if that is you, don't waste your time, nor stress out our hosts who have better things to do than police muppets, thanks ;)
For those who are looking for free spawns, Uber gear and shouting... go somewhere else :D If you want a well built and frequently DMd server, then this is definately worth a look.
I am a player member of a number of PW worlds, including ALFA, but this beats them all hands down. The server is being built in a modular fashion, and there are a number of "Isles"... These Isles are level restricted at a few different levels, to prevent the low levels from blundering into a screen full of giants. The HCR system is put to good use, with a number of modifcations to certain oversights, like Bioware's ridiculous new overpowered spells, like Greater Sanctuary, and Greater Missile Storm.
Death is permanent, and waiting for a reset will not help those sneaky enough to wait, but it is possible to pray to your God for salvation, at the cost of experience (Gods being the DMs). It is also possible to drag the companions home the old fashioned way, and get help at Temples for coin, and of course XP penalty. I believe that logging at - figures also incurs death, so no cheating now!
For the low levels there is an "Altar" that allows a penalised respawn at the Temple of your Alignment, but sans equipment. It is then up to you to retrieve your belongings... if you can *grins*
This works for levels 1-3, I believe.
Roleplaying well, and IN CHARACTER is rewarded and actively encouraged, and bad behaviour is dealt in similar fashion.
Persistency is maintained by modifications to the modules for major events, and not by a database. The recent "Drow War" showed this to everybodys delight. This is a truly PW World and not like most of the old poop that is out there.
The only complaint I have is that it is being advertised here... as it may mean loss of slots for ME!
Some of you may find it too hard, and the progression too slow, but if you want something far better than the norm... welcome and we see you on the Isles.

World looks great and well designed. Not for those looking to level quickly I can tell you that. But that's what makes it more fun in building your character(imo).

Just got done with a little adventure there and would like to give my support as well. Well done job all around so far on the world. Everything seemed well-placed and thank god for no default lighting :) Looks like the world would be a great place for many players to call home.

Be sure to DL the Custom Head Pack indicated in the "Hack Pack" section above. It is not necessary to play on the server, but without it, other players may appear to you to have no head. The pack adds about 100 head models to the game, and is made up of some of the best models I was able to find here on "The Vault".
It is listed under "Hack Pack" as it was the only place I could put it.
