Possibly the best server I've ever played on (and still play on regularly). All my love to the Hala DMs and players.

The description above doesn't do it justice. Very detailed environments and fantastic places. A city full of celestials, hidden drow enclaves, airships, mysterious portals to other planes... what more do you need?

Way to much, way to easy. This reminds me of the LOTR server I tried. you get going quickly then its all done. It did have it's nice points though so I gave them a 6.

What i have seen of this server so far was just wonderful!
Since Ysgard is a outer plane the quests, places, people are unique.... ever wanted to fly with a airship or defend a town from pirates that atack with them ? Or simply defeat a horde of naught tables with plans about world domination ? :)

And the lag won't eat your soul anymore!
Seriously through, come to Hala, take a seat, have a baconic pudding. It's a local speciality...

Hala is a wonderful world with a serious player base and a fabulously large and capable DM staff. It is connected with CoPaP which enables you to travel to other realms as well. Always has a DM presence and a great world to grow with. Truly persistant as it changes depending on the PC's actions to the world around them. Come and play, see for yourself what Ysgard is all about.

As a player and DM on this server, I'd have to say it's one of the best out there. We have a fairly high player/dm ratio and there are always interesting things developing. Come check us out.

The world is still alive and strong, though we have moved to a new server. The new direct connect is nwn.ysgardhala.org:5121
We have some new staff and a lot of interesting plotlines going on. Come on, give us a visit, apply, then try us out. You'll be glad you did.

Lots of loot, easy XP. Much easier to level and get magic than Avlis.

It seems that this page is slowly fading into the mists. But the world is alive and well People playing all the time with an active DM community, as well as player community.

At this moment Hala is undergoing some reconstruction to make the world a better experience to everyone. I have had great experiences on this world myself before i became a DM. If you are looking for a good roleplaying experience i suggest that you try Hala out.

This page hasn't been updated in a while... so it doesn't really represent us much anymore.
I assure you that Hala is a rocking server that's definately good for a lark or two.
DMs are on all the time... and its very hard to be logged in without happening upon a DM very quickly.
As a bonus... Hala is part of the CoPaP organization. That's "Confederation of Planes and Planets" Essentially, we're linked together with a whole bunch of worlds who share our roleplaying/fun-having ideals (Avlis/Rockhome/Travellers)... and with CoPaP, we're on our way to creating the biggest NWN nights persistant world EVER.... one that covers the entire multiverse. It'll be really cool. So... Come play on Hala.

Area setup has improved greatly since my last post.
Posted by Titanium Dragon ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-04 15:20:00
Good things:
DM attention - took five steps outside and ran into a DM. True, the encounter was a bit comical (a bard ressurrected a chicken, whose daughter we ended up looking for) but at least it was interesting and fun. After defeating a number of demons and undead, who apparently burned down one of the towns, we found the chicken's daughter and won the day.
RP interaction - Yup. Every character on the server was involved in the DM quest - all four of them. I spent the better part of three hours "helping" them find the chicken. Really, I mostly walked around grumbling behind them about how young 'uns don't have any respect these days, and how they need to slow down, and how my old bones ached, ect. It was great fun. The character I used was a test character, but I had enough fun with him that I might actually keep him around.
Bad things:
Area setup sucks. Even on a really good connection, 32x32 areas take forever to load. Not only are the areas too large, but they are poorly designed as well - they are very flat, boring, and uninteresting to look at. They are excessively large, and take forever to cross. Each area could easily be split into four 16x16 areas, and it would make things much, much better.
Too easy to get stuff. I gained two levels and an Amulet of Natural Armor +2 in a single three-hour event. Granted, I did RP fairly well, but really that was a bit much (about 2.5 K xp and the amulet was about +1 too powerful). I'm used to Avlis (the world it is linked up to, and from much of its player base comes), where it takes a lot longer. 8 hours of solid RP and adventure on Avlis might yield your first level.
All in all, I think Hala is definitely a work in progress. I just wonder if the concept can hold - 800 areas may seem like a lot, but it doesn't make for a very expansive world. Once you have all your areas done, what do you do?
Worth a visit, at the least.

The only big problem is the 32x32 areas and though this is being fixed right now, it is still playable with most to all computers. In the mean time however, there are still a lot of DMed quests going on and the world's politics are really starting to take shape.
In my opinion, this is the most exciting time for a PW. When everything is just starting to harden but is still very flexible, there is a lot that can be accomplished by a single person.
The large areas add a lot to the atmosphere of the mod and gives it a very unique feeling so I regret having to get rid of them but we will still keep the immense distances in between the cities if you prefer walking.

Hala is very early in developement, and that said I would avoid visiting it for the time being. There are some big problems that are waiting to be fixed (the huge 32x32 areas, for example) and there is generally not much to do. Wait a few months and try it out then, is my reccomendation.
