The loss of XP on Hlontar is kept as low as possible. Also, level loss does not occur in our world, so you never need fear losing a hard-earned level. Additionally, there is *no* loss of XP for PvP battles, allowing guilds to wage war at will.

Player Requirements
The only requirement for players is that we ask that they create a character with a "realistic" name and not something completely unbelievable. DMs are more than willing to help you come up with a name if you're having difficulty.
Hlontar is a town set on the fertile banks of the river Tesh on the edge of the Moonsea. Dark powers are on the rise in an attempt to reclaim the lands...and while some fight to stop the coming tide of evil...some fight to stop them in a bloody war of guild rivalry. Hlontar is a growing world with many areas, tons of custom scripts, some quests, and an ever-expanding player-base.
In order to play on the server, you must have NWN 1.69, and CEP 2.2c installed.

It is a wonderful world. The dm staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been a player of NWN for almost 5 years now and of all the worlds I've been through Hlontar is the place I gladly call home.

This server is AMAZING!! I mean awesome people to roleplay with, Dms that run scheduled, and random events, and LISTEn to the players suggestions and issues . AWESOME looking areas, plenty of places to hunt. Some of the best times I have ever had playing NWN, opr D&D in general happened opn Hlontar!!

this server fits almost everything i am looking for in a server. i have played here for around three weeks, my login is clansunstar . the only way i can see the server improveing is by adding the PRC in. other than that, nice leveling pace, frendily staff and players. and its a very well built world as well. just from what i have seen so far i can tell allot of thought and designing went into this realm. very very good job.

In short - a PW that appears to have survived 5 years? Great layout/Nicely made areas, Friendly/active playerbase and DMs. What more could you ask for?
Being new to NWN and the D&D style in general i wasnt sure what to expect, a friend decided to pick it back up with me and suggested we played here. The first thing that i liked me was the town layout and how everything branches off from it so well. After a few hours getting to grips we had moved onto some group activity and not long after had our first DM encounter, Some spicey spawns (though more surprising than difficult(Well placed fireball)) followed by a welcome message to us both. Very nice atmosphere in Hlontar.
I just hope it continues as it is, reading all the other comments it seems to have always been great, from launch to now.

here is my vote for the best server I have ever played on...awesome players, great Dms, brutally awesome events. Everyone is treated fairly and like they really do matter.heres to hlontar a perfect 10 if i ever saw one!!

I have been playing in Hlontar for over a month now. It is a fantastic world with a lot of great players and interactive DMs. It is evident that Ben and the other officers spend a great deal of time developing, caring for, and cultivating Hlontar for the players to enjoy. If you are looking for a PW to explore, look no further.

I will have to say that this sever is impressive! it has a little of everything for everyone and best of all the dms seem to be very experienced and NICE!
So far it seems like they have tried to keep the server low magic to allowing every class to be used at its full potential
Now if they could just find a way to do this kind of balance and FUN using [PRC] This server would be an 11 score maybe one day *I can dream* after all PRC has come a long way with balancing and improving there work since the last time this server was considering using prc (I think using the dates from the forum).

As an inexperienced and reluctant role-player, I found that Hlontar will quickly pull you into it's constantly evolving community history. You step off the boat and walk down the streets, turn a corner and encounter life. You are suddenly a part of Hlontars tale, a part of it's history and vast community. Who knows what the day will bring. You could simply question an empty store with no merchant and find you have uncovered a web of mystery in the ever-changing life of the town. Or you could suddenly find yourself involved in an event that could forever change the history of Hlontar and it's community. Awesome RP and excellent DM interaction with many events both scheduled and unexpected. There are quests for a variety of levels but the epic weapon quest that is custom tailored around your characters unique history and abilities adds a dm personal touch that truly makes Hlontar so special. I recommend you give Hlontar a try. Today's history has been written but tomorrow is a new day and it's outcome will have changed simply because someone new walked into town.

As the creator, Head DM and long-time player of the world, I have to submit a vote. Not necessarily for the world itself, but for all the players who make the world come alive. I am not a long time player of NWN by any means. It all started with an obsessed with NWN and wanted me to play along. . .and so now I am just as addicted as him. If you are new to the whole NWN thing Hlontar is a perfect place to start. RP isn't so intense that you are not sure how to handle yourself( I started with a mute =) and the action is great. You can really get into your character and learn how to play. The DMs are fantastic! They will answer any questions and give advice when needed and have a way of making you feel important to the server. Defintly give Hlontar a try

A very good server, I have spent several years here, as a creator, a Dungeon Master and as a Player. The people here are friendly, the DM staff tries to improve the experiance for the players above everything else, and we are constantly updating the server to do just that.

This server sets the bar really high. Since I found it, I've checked out other servers but found them lacking allure and returning to Hlontar.
