I do aggree that most of the old Guilders seem to have left the sever, probably because of a lack of new activities,areas and/or new bosses to kill etc. although quite a few newies are logging on of late. I try to encourage them to stay showing them around and helping them to get equipment. Although I've been playing here for years, there is still much I have to do and many items I still dont have. I have mixed feeling about the "B" Server wipe. For me it was probably a backward step, but if the majority is happy with it then thats what matters most. I just pray that "A" doesnt get the Broom put through it as well.(I'll probably need counseling if that happened and I loose all the items Ive taken years to collect) I hope the server stays up forever, but in reality I know that eventualy all good thing will come to an end, I just hope there is a few more years in this one, cuz Im staying here till the death, lol. Well done Howards!!

I was a Howard's player for nearly two years and a guilder for about 18 months. The mod's strength is Howard's great combat-AI scripting which make for some epic battles once you've had the opportunity to build up your gear over several months. Unfortunately, there has been no significant new content added since I became a player. Also many really cool people have lost interest or left because of server politics and drama. The main reason I liked the server was the community of players which has dwindled significantly in the past couple of months. In my opinion, a lack of new content, a vault-wipe on one of the two servers plus the mob-style management system has caused its decline. Its been my experience, if you haven't been "made" by the mod maker, as in made a DM, then your opinions regarding the direction of the mod are given little to no regard whatsoever.

Ok Everyone...If you want to spend all of your time playing a char and getting it to lvl 40 in a few weeks then this isnt for you. If you want to level your char and then go out and fight bosses and make your char better then come see us. It takes a little while to level your char and then you are off. As long as you are a polite person and dont spend your first 5 mins on the server begging for items you will find that Most if not all of the long term players (guilders) are willing to help you out some. I started my on-line gaming here. I have tried many other servers and none of them come close to waht Howards has to offer. I have been playing there for 3 years now and have never had a time when there wasent something to do.

If you dont like it...then DONT play it. But there is no way that this server has had at one time Hundreds of diffrent players listed, and was a bad server. That is just nonsence. Howard is always improving and making chages to make the servers run smoother and faster with less lag. Matter of Fact there are 2 server running at this time.

Howard...Thanks for all the Hard work and time you have put into making an awsome gaming world that keeps everyone on their toes at all times

This module is the most useless dming and a host i have ever seen, is nothing but stolen scripts and nwn community should do something about it, you acting like you made those scripts and puting your name on it.

Started playing NWN in Jan 2006 and was shown Howards by a friend at that time. I had tried some others, but Howards is the best, and I have stayed with Howards and plan to stay there for as long as this server is up.

There is also a great comunity of people who play there on a regular basis, they help out new players and get together for various adventures and special events that may be held buy DM's or coordinated by players.

Stop in and give it a try, you will be glad you did.

Where to start this is a new age of computing and Howard made it one of the best servers on nwn1 it has faults but the things tht are great are better then lots of other servers so im not worried of nwn 2 its gonna be great as the first one everything has been said of the first one so you better watch out of Howard he's gonna build a new server on nwn 2 and its gonna be out of this world .

Howards isn't a PW it's an actionserver hack and slash based. If you wanna learn something about gameplay characterbuilding join this server. It grants longtime fun since there is allways something new to achieve. something to perfect. Especially for people who don't want to spent all there playingtime to level to 40 this is the place to be. Besides friendly and helpfull DM's you'll meet an amazing playerbase. If you are polite you'll allways find a long time player to help you out.

I wouldnt force my worst enemy to play on this server..Its soo bad.

So many problems (to many to list) but my no#1 beef is with the 4 y/o designed items and the overly cheese boss's who dont even function in the normal sense of the game. (Translation: they'll blast you for 250 with no chance for resist).

Anyway this is THE WORST PW ive ever played on.

I have played so many different servers on NWN that I cannot count them but the only one that I have gone back to on a regular basis and has prety much stopped me from going onto any other serve would be HOwards as it is continuously updating and upgrading and you never know if something is for some reason going to be harder when you next go to do an area or even an area getting easier to allow the lower lvl chars a chance to get some of the gear available on the server. Howard keeps adding new harder areas and reducing the dificulty of the already existing area which makes this server such a well rounded server for new and old players which is why it has such a nig core of regular players like me and many others. So if you are just reading this to see what people say about different servers dont just take my word for it, or the word of the others who have writen the same come and try the server for yourself. Be curtious to the guilders and you will find out that they will move the earth to help new players and welcome t hem if they feel they are worth the help and not just people that beg for gear because they are new.

So if you play and you see me send me a PM I am on just about all the time when I am not working and I have far to much spare time doing nothing but standing around chatting and love nothing more than to help people that genuinly need the help or even just showing people around.

Absolutly the best server, hands down. With the amount of areas and new ones being added often, your never loose interest. The community is friendly and always helpful. You don't have to look very hard to see the hard work and imagination that has gone into this creation.....

I have been on a few NWN servers, and this one is by far the best I have ever seen! The players help this also, but the areas are endless, you can play for a long time, and still never see it all. This server promotes party playing also, as you can not possibly kill some of the bosses by your self. If you like to play NWN this is the server for you.

Quite simple. Probably the best Server Vault Legit mod I've ever played. Its got so many hours of gameplay, and things to do that you'll be itching to get home from work/school to get on the game and play. Sure it's got alot of faults, but its got alot of fun things to do too. Custom Enhancers, areas...scripts that you wouldnt normally see. Alot of servers have that, but Howards has that sort of bondish feeling, where you get on, make some friends, and you feel like your bound to play with these friends for a long time to come. Scratch the whole duplicating bug off, and the casting bug, and of course the unnecessary sudden crashes, or shutdowns, and this server would be by FAR the best server, that may have ever edged onto Neverwinter Nights.

HowardsLOTR is the first online game I've played. It's been a year and a half now. The server has grown soo much since I first started playing. The amount of negative opinions don't surprise me. It just isn't their cup o tea. Since I won't ever play another server, lol, who gives two shats :)

Very average server. New low for HnS. No quality to anything. Basically took Nethera's module and added some garbage. Very disappointing as far as being a LoTR module is concerned. Players buy equipment (yes, real cash, oops, I meant they donate and are rewarded for their donation). Why play when you can just buy your stuff? *Cough* Diablo 2 *cough* Very average server.

As for "welcoming newbs with open arms": What P'tite means is go into Bree and you'll find a few dozen selections of equipment laying on the ground by someone who solo'd a Boss or two. And yes, the battles usually are "Get hit by monster's 300 damage aura, drink heal, monster immune to knockdown, 300 damage aura, heal, monster immune to mind spells, 300 damage, heal, monster takes 5 damage, 300 damage, heal, wash, rinse, repeat"

I remember when I use to play on Howard's a long time ago. I was disappointed when I was banned, because I was a consistent player for the few months I was there. Another player started talking with me about a thieves guild, so I made my first thief character, and not a week later we were banned due to "complaints from several players". Of course, just telling us not play with thieves anymore would have worked, but I guess when you have the popularity that Howard's server has gotten, it didn't bother him to lose a few regulars. I forgot to mention, a day before I was banned multiple DMs told me that it was ok to use my thief, just not to go overboard with the PP, which I adhered to.

But, as soon as I joined other servers I realized it was for the better. The problem with Howard's is that it is constantly growing at a fast pace. Characters hitting 40 in days. the only thing worth doing after you've done everything once is wait for the next big "update" (as Howard called them), which was uaually the next overy powered item or monster that was added. Just my opinion, and I'm only posting so those who feel the same as me don't waste their time, but when all you do on a server is wear the same stuff as the guy next to you, and just play to get the best garbage, it gets lame real quick. Not to mention the players who donate money having equipment with full immunities loaded on. Heh, was fun for a while, then I found myself logging on just to log back off anyways.

Where to start ... so much bad about howards and so little positive....

PROS: Its nice to level here with no item lvl restrictions. To me this is a good thing or was in this case (slow lvls are lame). In the overall picture this was bad too, but at least I didnt have to waste much time testing.

CONS: Loads of super do0per itemz (bad thing), This really limits your character class/combo choices..(Example: why play PM when you can be wearing a immune to crits item at lv1) (Example: Barb if you have +12 str/con at lv1 etc etc).

CONS: Another major issue, DM's hand out items to their friends. Being a PVP server this throws things way outa sink..(if thats possible considering how unbalanced the basic items are).

Into the mix goes a LARGE ammount of item duping. This server really needs a complete item wipe and total item revamp. Afterwards the seting "enforce legal characters active".

CONS: All of the boss's have been given "cheap" shot abilities. Since average player has mad resists+immunities they give the boss's things like 200 pt fire attack with no save it just subtracts your fire resists and you take 160 or whatever. Kinda lame imo.

CONS: Thinking of playing a cleric?.. well not here..everyone and their mom has 100 heal pots , 100 res scrolls , 100 greater restores. Even the boss's have goten in on the heal craze and can be seen healing 10-20+ times.

Summary: All in all I wouldnt suggest this mod to a human. IF I had to id say it might be ok for teens/preteen (monkeys not humans). This server is borderline like playing on "local vault" server.

I think howard means well but ..this server gets a D- ..he should handle the hosting and turn the moding over to someone a clue.

Overall the hard npcs are pritty much all(in the same way) overpowered firing the same kinds of pulses and bolts at you.

another con about howards lotr is that about every big monster you fight dispells you every time you cast a protective spell which makes buff kinds of characters useless.

there's some ppl that easily get angry at you when you have a different view then the all round player or the

Howards LotR is probably one of the top two servers I've ever played on. However, Howards is unique in the fact that it takes the standard LotR module and adds hundreds of unique areas, and thousands of unique creatures, items, and scripts. We have a large and varied player base, very good DM monitoring, and a sort of penchant for player policing. That is, pickpockets, player killers, ninja looters/killers all are hunted and killed off with great pleasure. This helps ensure a more positive environment for newer and older players alike. Trust me, negative behaviour does not continue for long before being dealt with. Either a DM will boot/ban the offender, or the player base will deal with the person in a spectacularly messy way.

As for some of these complaints, I feel I should address them.

Lag: Howards runs dual servers and the module is based on a CoLo. Lag is minimal. I've seen the server up for hours and hours on end with only a minimal drop in performance. Even my older computer can play on Howards with little or no trouble. This is even considering that Howards far outstrips most other servers in the sheer amount of unique content.

RPing: This server is listed as an Action server. As such, the action is more... actionesque. Yes, that sentence made sense.

Speed Leveling: Yes, it has easy leveling. But getting to level forty is just the beginning. You will consistently be challenged by newer and better creatures and quests. Even with crême-de-la-crême equipment, you'll still be challenged. I've been here a year, and have one of the best selections of gear out there... and even I am challenged by some of the creatures and quests on the server.

Pay-to-play: I'll say it nice and slow. Howards is not a pay-to-play server. Never has, and never will be. Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong, plain and simple.

This is not a server that will get boring after a week or a month... I've been here over a year, and am still going strong. Howards appeals to and challenges folks from every skill and experience level. If you don't like the format, then perhaps you should consider playing elsewhere. But for those who are interested, Howards welcomes new players with open arms, and there are a dearth of people willing to show newer players the ropes.

This server is not for arrogant eliteists. If you enjoy challenges in character building, gear aquisition, and monster hunting, this is the place for you. If you only like servers that you must RP in and confuse the heck out of you with complicated rules or restrictions, you will hate Howards LOTR.

Your Comments : This is the best server. Although, it is not perfect. Leveling is far to easy, and I feel there should be a certian respect with levels. Level 40 should mean something, but it doesn't. It is very uber item based, and like others said .. You can only be a certian few builds to be decent and succesful. I would like to see all classes able to make their way. I like being a bard.. But you can't be soley bard. Gold should be worth something, but it isnt. The insane monsters are dissapointing at times, but this has it's ups with emphisizing teamwork. I like the .. user law. The laws are set by group opinion. The genral public doesn't
like pickpockets.. so they get "exterminated". I like the anarchy.

The players arnt really motivated to role play, but that is okay. I would prefer if there was maybe even a little, becuase I know I do it sometimes, and I really respect players who do their best to roleplay. Even with other players using normal talk around them.

There's my two cents.
