Krynn Haven is a recreation of the Dragonlance fantasy world using Bioware's Neverwinter Nights. We have been around for some time now and are continually working to improve the experience for our players. If you want to know how you can play on the server, the info on our Getting started page might be useful. New players are always welcome. If you have a question, feel free to post it in our forum. Thank you for your time and enjoy! There are many guilds known from the DL world that players can join, though it is no necessity to join any. DM events are taking place daily, reaching from small RP encounters to world altering events. The world of Krynnhaven also offers a lot of unique custom content, for more information visit our homepage and or forums or log into IRC, there will always be someone around to help you with any questions that may appear. Looking forward to see you around, the Krynnhaven Team

Was a fab server way back 2002/ early 2003 before the Khemal revamp.
Sadly, a insidious rot that was to decay the playerbase set in therebouts. I had major reservations with way a numpty called AM Jordan was Pk'ing players and messing with thier inventories.
I dared to voice my opinion, was lablled as "inflammatory" and got the boot.
No great loss, as was on the way out of that rudderless ship anyway. Somewhere along the along Arc lost control of his ship.
The reasons for this servers demise have been previously cited by others. So, no need to reiterate them, as I agree with most.
Still, due to the players I had fun with, it is a shame to set it go, as it is easy to forget who the numpties they ruined it were.
Can't vote high for this due to the issues encounted that spoiled my and others time there, so a 4 is more than fitting.
Goodnight KH

As you can see, dead server. However, there may be some life at krynnhaven.com(you must register). Perhaps there's some life there; I don't know. Be forewarned- Many others besides myself stay away from those in control as they are power drunk self-lovers filled with delusions of significance which real life has denied them, so they use the server as a way to recompense the loss. When I saw Amanda, Icarii, and others attempt to join the new server, I became sick to my stomach, and resigned my registry. Maybe you'll do better

A review of Krynn Haven
Pros:
One of the few DragonLance themed servers out there.
Cons:
In name it is a DragonLance server but in reality not much DL-ish to be found here. It could have been any other DnD server.
It is plagued by bugs/crashes, as well as problems between/among players and DMs
Setting: 6.0
While it is one of the few DL-PWs out there, it fails to give a real DL feel.
Only a small part of Ansalon is represented (small parts of North Southern Ergoth, Qualinesti, Kharolis, Abanasinia).
You will find fairly few familiar places, landmarks, or persons from the original books. This partly due to alterations to the timeline.
While it is intresting to create your own spin-off it also alienates the players that are familiar with DL.
Originality: 6.0
DragonLance is a populair setting with quite a few books, in that regard this server is not original.
With all the content and systems that have become available since it was founded you would have expected something better.
Eg. DL PrC, hardcore/3.5 rules, custom subraces, Thorbardin (Dwarven kingdom).
Some of the NPC dialogues and books are entertaining when you look for more lore about DragonLance.
Finally they introduced crafting again after one of the builders failed to deliver what he promised in the form of UOAbigail's Crafting System.
For the rest it features:
-a fatigue/hunger/thirst system (you'll have to rest, drink and eat a lot; very annoying during conversations)
-a housing system for the few lucky ones with enough cash and the correct friends.
-banking
Compaired to other PWs nothing innovative to be found here.
Custom Content: 6.5
Large download for all the haks (CEP + some custom haks; reserve ~1.5Gig space on your disk) of which relatively little is found back in the game.
There are some custom shields though for some of the guilds.
Community : 7.5
Actual active number of players is between 0-
As with everything, it waxes and wanes. Perhaps due to the server's physical integrity, players or staff. Last time I checked, players are having fun. Some DMs bring the "old-school" PnP into play and for some, just giving PCs an afternoon of fun.

Very nice rendition of Krynn, quite improved since I tried it out several years back, although the 2nd server with half of the world lying completely dormant is somewhat disappointing. Definitely worth some game-time.

Began playing at KH in Dec 2003 after watching my husband and a friend play for a few months. I find the RP to be terrific, the world breathtaking, and the DL feel to be great. The server has its ups and owns all the time and there are Dms you will Love and those you won't, but all in all, KH is the best place to toil away the hours.

DragonLanceFan,
Now, I am not going to comment on the majority of posts here. I will post that Krynnhaven is not perfect. What I will say, is that it has one of the most devoted crews that I have met. People come here to play. The majority fall in love with it, so much so that they tend to want to contribute more to the server to make it even better. Now this is both good and bad, because KH strives to maintain a Dragonlance feel. Some people get it, some don't. But I said, the Majority enjoy it. And what more can you ask for? If you like something, you stick with it, if you don't you go elsewhere(or go on a tirade, denouncing everything and it's mother). The staff of KH are hardworking people, and devoted to the improvement of our server.
For the most part, I think the RP found here is quite good, and I would like to extend my apologies to the person who was PK'd 20 minutes into being on the server, and would like to point out that this is NOT the norm. PKing at KH is generally RP justified, and is generally punished if not so.
But to anyone who wishes to know a bit more about KH, I have supplied my email to answer any and all questions you may have. So you know who I am. I am a DM on this server and am one of it's longest serving players. I have been around since November 2002, so I feel I am very well suited to answer any questions you may have. I am also currently a Builder, so I can also answer questions in that respect as well. :)

Man I want to test this world out sooo bad but after reading all the posts here and checking out the Forums like some of the "problem players" suggested I just dont know.
Dont get me wrong, Im sure some of the posts were false but there are so many of them and they are all consistant with their problems regarding the staff.
I have played on a PW, I wont mention names to be respectful, and it had a DM that was not "emotionally stable". I cant begin to tell you what a horrible waste of time it was investing 6 months on that world. Not to mention a nightmare dealing with someone that had some serious issues regarding "criticism" and "power". Needless to say I dont want to have that happen again.
The only reason Im writting this is because I have heard GREAT things about this world. I wish I would not have read these posts now. Especially that one about the unstable DM lady. Talk about bringing back bad memories... *shivers*
At any rate Im curious to see the rebuttal this post is going to get. I promise this is not some random flame. Im really interested in this PW and love to role play, I just want a "stable" environment regarding the staff. Too many PW on NWN seem to be run by kids or "unstable" people.
I love the custom content and rich atmosphere that some realms on NWN have to offer but they are not worth playing if you have to deal with "dangerous" egos.
Would love to play here soon...
-Thanks for your time, DLF

Well...having played on this server for close to three months I will try to address your post in hopes you return.
First of all, we have forums to post character complaints to DM's. We simply don't have a DM on all the time to handle such things, but a private message in the forums to any of the DM staff will do wonders.
As for the issue you speak of, that player was also new to the server. The appropriate thing to do would've been to report the issue to the DM's through the forums.
Fatigue, hunger and thirst. Fatigue 4 in an hour's time. Well...a real-time hour equals out to be about 30 hours in Krynn time. I'd call that anything but irresponsible.
I don't know many people who could walk for 30 hours in armour, or even clothes, without being tired.
It's too bad you judged the entire server by a single experience without giving anyone the option to help you. You saw something you felt was wrong and instead of seeing whether DM's would resolve it, you just left.
KH is better than you make it sound. A return-trip to KH would open your eyes to that fact.

I started a Human Fighter on KrynnHaven. I liked a lot about it. I met a cool little guy, Grovel, who took time to show me some of the city and how to get around. It was full RP, even asked me why I went around the city with an axe and shield in my hands. So I put them away. Mistake.
Within 20 minutes of entering the world, I was attacked and killed by another PC with no warning and no provocation. A brand newbie, in the city for newbies. There was no DM online to report a rampant PKer. (at about 10PM ET on a Wed night) The guards of the city sat around with their thumb up their butt. I can appreciate the realism of full PvP everywhere all the time, but what about the realism of filing charges? Calling the guards? If you make a world where everyone can attack everyone all the time, I think you better have some mechanics in place to deal with the children who like to grief people for no reason. If you want realism, how about recourse for the people who have been senselessly assaulted? I'm no cry baby, but having full PvP in the newbie city with no way for griefers to be held accountable is just irresponsible.
My other complaint is the hunger/thirst/fatigue system. I got to level 4 of fatigue (at 7 you start to suffer consequences) in about an hour of walking around town talking to people. Since you can't (or shouldn't) just plop your butt down in the street for a nap, that seemed like more of a nuisance than an adjunct to the sense of reality. I didn't even know where an inn was.
My sense of this PW is that it has amazing depth and potential. It is also one of the least newbie-friendly worlds I have ever encountered. So, I'm going to look elsewhere for a PW that I will enjoy. If I don't find one, I will be back to this one, because I liked it's devotion to realism. Where it fell flat in that devotion is a way to prevent anarchy when the game rules designed to prevent it are disabled.

Dunno about what has happened before I got there but while I've been there, and still am now, I like the place so much I tend to RP my character to death :P
Great work guys!

While I don't have any personal vendettas, as some here seem to have, I will say that the server generally lacks a strong player base and imaginative/active builder/DM crew. All in all, this PW often times seems more a poor single player experience than any form of multiplayer one. As such, I rank it poorly.

there is more whining here then even on EQ... good grief.

Do not expect to be treated fairly here. The rules are continually bent by a few very powerful DM's who want to help out one of their friends or to harm someone they don't like.
Consistency is apparently something that they strive AGAINST. They let poor roleplayers back who were banned for continually griefing handfuls of players, even though there website states "Permanent Ban, no recourse. Just as it says, no return regardless of any future statements of remorse." But on the other hand they won't let a player who was a good roleplayer, and who was not banned or even warned for any infraction, who just had the misfortune of sharing the same computer and CD key as another person that was banned, have her CD key reinstated just so that she may play. (Although an illegal CD key pirating option was given to said player by the hostess, which the player refused.) They ban two people from the server because they disagree with what a few DM's have done, but they do NOTHING to players who harass, name call, and outright fight on the forum with other players. Everything from forum posts to handling PvP encounters are handled differently depending on who you are and who you're friends with.
New things are rare and custom content is pretty much non-existent since no one wants to build for them and there's only one scripter who's been working on crafting forever now. There are not very many DM's and even fewer builders. Builders are often upset with the little room for creativity they are given. Several questing DM's leave because they don't like the stringent questing rules that come and go from the Senior DM's and even worse at least 5 that I am aware of have left because they felt like their ideas and the player's ideas were lost in the midst of the struggle of the Senior DM's to maintain their power of this make believe land.
If you do check it out, just make sure you kiss some major hostess and Senior DM (DreamShadow aka Amanda) butt and don't dare question her in any manner for she has a nasty tongue. Also, don't bother to discuss anything with the founder of the server, Arcanius,...he claims to be in charge, but in actuality he just pops up once every two months to say he's in charge and doesn't agree with the direction Predator is taking the building, then leaves. The person who's really supposed to be in charge, or so I was told by DS, is Blacksting. But while he's always in IRC, he won't answer your questions or even attempt to be social unless it's something of interest to him. While Predator, the main builder, has done a nice job modifying the areas and making them pretty, just don't trust him to step in and do the right thing when necessary. Since he's returned from leaving, he seems to just do whatever those who have more power over him say. Oh, and theres another Senior DM named Q (yes, Im sure lots of people arent even aware of this), but he/she pops up even less than Arcanius, comes in, posts something whacky on the forums or adds overpowered items for the Conclave wizards, then leaves that same day to return on the next holiday.
For the good, there are a few great roleplayers and DMs and great people there. If you can stay out of the political stuff, meaning dont post on the forums about what youd like to see, dont listen to gossip in IRC or you'll become part of it, and stay oblivious to what's behind the scene, which are all things I wish I would have done, maybe you'll enjoy yourself here.

Do not expect to be treated fairly here. Not worth the soap opera and bother. The rules are continually bent by a few very powerful DM's who want to help out one of their friends or to harm someone they don't like. Consistency is apparently something that they strive AGAINST. Little to no custom content, no crafting, a strange obsession with undead, and usually not enough people on to have RP fun.

Err, all I did was mention that she had an uber ring and also had two levels of monk when she shouldn't have. And got a perma ban for my troubles. How is that childish, to call someone on being hypocritical?
I made my review, I stand by it. You state you won't debate, but I really think a great deal of that reason is you know I told the truth. But at any rate, as I said, I made a review. Take it or try to refute any of the points presented. But don't claim that the comments are invalid merely because my experience with Krynnhaven doesn't equal yours or that I might have been emotional while writing it. Facts are facts, and I stand by mine.
It's not what you say but the way you say it Mithrom. You acted childishly and with malicious intent and deserved what you got IMO. No one is going to waste time debating with you either. We are secure in the quality of our server and are too busy making it a better place.

Regardless of my incentive for posting, no one's debated the accuracy of said post, thus making the motive rather a side note.
Yes, I was banned. I was banned for pointing out that Amanda possessed an overpowered ring for a low magic server and that she had two levels of monk. The key here is, she had just finished sniping at a helpless player for powergaming, because he buffed and had two levels of monk on one of his characters. I merely pointed out the hypocrisy. Which earned an instant perma ban, without warning or the temp ban that's specified in the server rules.
And yes, I did apologize. The staff chose to refuse said apology. Much less offer one of their own, so I stand by my statements and offer anyone to dispute their factual validity.
