V2.0 RELEASED: In September, v2.0 of this world was released. A full rebuild of the original world from the ground up we integrated the latest scripts from the NWN community and redesigned the world based on our experiences with the first version. The North is a persistent world set in the Forgotten Realms. We'd like to welcome you to a compelling gameworld that is accurately based on the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Overlaying this world will be a campaign of epic proportions that will take characters from level 1 to 25+. The gameworld runs a heavily modified version of HCR and contains many features and alternate activities including tasks, tradeskills and player run guilds. *** See the readme file below or map above for more detailed information ***

Mithral Hammer's The North closed it's doors a couple of years ago. The torch has been passed to a new team and is called Forgotten Realms-The North. Check it out. Most of the Mithral Hammer content added to and improved continuously. _________________________ For the Love of The North

I've been playing in this gameworld for about 4 years now, and, although I've tried another PWs I've never found one such as this and where I feel more at home.

I have played this world before, and enjoyed it immensley, but one day after I re-installed NWN (I am only aloowed on game on the comp at any one time. Gotta switch them out, see) it wouldn't log me on, sayin I was missing .tlk table or something. Any advice here would be apreciated!

I have found a home for my characters. This world is absolutely wonderful! The dms are very nice and easy to play with, and the other players are some of the best folks I know.

Fun server. Lots of areas. However the travelling is confusing. The crafting is way over done. You have to pay a trainer to gain levels and its not small change. Annoying. People don't group much here either.

I posted some comments about another server, and boy I wish there was a 'delete' option. Mithral Hammer is easily the best PW I have played on. What really sets it apart is the Developers and Administrators take the time to ask the players what they think, and care about the players' opinions. Everyplace else I have played, the Administrators treated the players like idiots or children.
Anyway, it's an extensive and immersive gameworld with a great playerbase that loves to RP. The server currently has a crafting system adapted from HCR, persistent housing and chests, and lots of scripted quests for those who want to try things solo.
If you are a Forgotten Realms fan looking for a place to play, like I was 4 months ago, this will be your last stop. I guarantee it.

Greetings all. I've spent a pair of nights here, and here are some comments from my experience during that time. (I do come from a fairly "story-oriented/roleplay" background, so my colored glasses may or may not do justice to MH:tN)
Pros Detailed area-building. They're certainly not one of those bland tileset eyesore module, yet at the same time it isn't one of the most eye-pleasing ones I've seen.
Nice DM Interaction. The DM staff is very helpful and friendly. It may be just sheer luck that I'm at a DM's attention right when I've entered the realm, but it certainly isn't luck that the particular DM (MH-Enigma) was attentive, helpful, and friendly.
Helpful Supporting Material. I have something for PWs with a detailed player handbook =) The forums have good bit of organized information as well. (I also have to mention they made a point of meticulously giving credits to the NwN-community whose work helped in the creation of MHtN)
Neutrals
There's the CNR-based crafting system... some NPC based guilds, HCR, a (script-based) overland travel system, housing/tariffs... plus probably many features that I've not been exposed to. The adaptations seem to be similar to other PWs I've visited (neutral for me, as they neither add nor subtract from the role-playing experience for me)
Cons
I'm probably in the wrong timezone... the player count is ~4-6 when I've been there (and I've not met any other than that from the helpful DM). Lag is noticeable even with that number of players, although I was explained that it is temporary (it's understandable). From seeing the visual quality of the module, I've expected the conversations to be abit more involving. Most of the idling NPCs, despite their unique naming, repeats a very limited set (4?) of phrases, one of which is an (gasp) OOC advice.
Overall, MH:tN seems to be a place for you, if a feature-rich vivarium is what you're looking for. In a way it reminds me of Avlis... so if you like that genre you might enjoy MHtN as well.
Salut, Vaéi.

What can I say? This server has almost anything you could want and is set in a easy to go with background. Hurrah for Mithral Hammer _________________________ Player of sneaky like characters in a module near you.

Mithral Hammer is totally cool PW. Players and DMs are great to role play with on the server. I have fun when I play at MH.

One of a kind. Players are great, and DM interaction is WAY up, compared to other places where such is falling off. Go play here

Amazing world! Never thought I'd experience PnP online. I was wrong. The North is the place to be. The only reason I give it a 9.75 is so that there is room to grow. A 10 is on the horizon! _________________________ For the Love of The North

Hello to All,
Mithral Hammer is the best site around.
Posted by Bulldog Pug at 2005-06-12 10:12:20 Voted 10.00 on 06/12/05
Hello to All,
I must say this is the best and only site I play on. I tried several other sites and in my opinion no other site comes closer to this one. I have been a player on this site since version 1 for several years and even that was awsome world and this one is an even greater extension of the first version. The Dm's are the best around and always very helpful. Every problem I have ever had has been taken care of and the staff is the best in answering any and all questions. At times the Dev team is very busy trying to improve the world so you may at times have to be patient.
Sincerely, Bulldog Pug

Having seen several other "high profile" Worlds, that have been added to the Hall of Fame, I feel these other places can compare to what Mithral Hammer-The North has to offer. It has a feel like not other. The Travel system is excellent, the DM's are active, the "core players" are always there, newcomers are always embraced. Anyone can log in without having to fill out a "Registration Form", just find the site and you are on!
Once you are connected, the people on the server will accept you for who you are and how you wish to play. Want to tell stories at a Pub, its there. Want to be a knight? Its there. Want to be an evil Sorcerer? Its there. Want you and your buddies to hunt a Dragon? Its there. Want to fight the world alone? Its there.
This server has been under the radar for some, it is time to give it it's due. Hall of Fame Baby!!

A super DM team, a super responsive Developement Team that creates constant updates and a great core of players makes Mithral Hammer one of the best Persistant Worlds out there.

Excellent Forgotten Realms RP server, this server has been my server of choice for over three years.
Posted by sgoisman at 2005-06-03 15:04:53 Voted 10.00 on 06/03/05
This is a great PW! emphasis on the persistant part. The player base is strong and continues to grow. When DM's and Developers retire or scale back their time, new DM's and Devs come into the fold and help.

This server is with out a doubt one of the best in RP PW FR, And I know this because myself have been in countless servers, some incluided has Chtar, Winterhaven, and Haven, also very cool... and I can say that Mithral Hammer has beat them up.
The reasons why is as fallows:
1º- areas very well built and original, yet compatible with FR map.(rating on this subject from 1-10=10)
2º- area quests very well built again, sometimes with bugs.
(R.S.= 8)
3º- CNR also preatty okay, sometimes anoying when the object can be destroyed due to a bad role but that is not MH fault.
(R.S.= 9)
4º- Area transitions and encounters are extrodinary and VERY original.
(R.S.= 10)
5º- Starting cities for low levelers or very impressive and indeed due a diference in LvL up.
(R.S.= 9)
6º- This is the down part, allot of bugs in server and some allot of complains... but that is what happens when the server has complex and well thought as MH is made, but we must put in mind that the server is NOT COMPLETE, in other words, is goin' to be bigger badder and cooler. so my bet in a couple of mounths/years, this server is passing from a 8/9 to a complete 10!
