Nymris goal is to be as close to tabletop gaming as possible. It is a low-magic world, with slow advancement, and a realistic economy. At character creation you are sent to the Immigrations Center. This is an OOC area, where you choose a deity based on alignment, get a date of birth and age and a background template relative to the world of Nymri. Since time is persistent at a 12:1 ratio, your characters will age. The mortal max is level 20. Once a character reaches 20th (which takes a while at 100-300 XPs per hour), they stop earning XPs. To advance beyond 20th, you must gain Demi-God status, which involves a series of DM run quests designed just for your character. Drop by and take a look, the guys that run Nymri have been playing DnD since Chainmail (How long ago was that?). Nymri is a very difficult server and only those worthy should attempt it. If you get to level 10, youve earned bragging rights as one of the best players in the NWN community.

I havent much experiance with the server or the playerbase, but I'd give this server a good solid 8 for what I have seen. Nymri is shaping up to be a roleplayer's dream!

Disclaimer:
I am fairly new to Nymri and to NWN persistant worlds. However, I am not new to the MMORGP experience and I must say that Nymri is a refreshing change of pace.
Though Nymri is a persistant world because of its player to DM ratio it has managed to retain the flavor of a traditional PnP game. I have been gaming on Nymri for a few days now and its great to have an NPC suddenly come to life and interact with you for no other reason other than to enhance the experience of living and adventuring on Nymri.
Nymri is a challenging persistant world. The senior DM and world builder makes it as clear as possible that to play on Nymri really is a steep investment. Nothing comes easy, levels, adventuring, wealth and fame. They need to be won and won dearly at times. With permanent character death and an elaborate player economy it can take some time coming to grips with Nymri's game system but once you master the ropes it is not impossible to beat the learning curve and begin having fun.
Oh - And did I mention the player community? So far most players have been very welcoming and helpful, while they do give hand outs to new players they will take all the time in the world to sit down and assit them with any part of the Nymri system the new player is having trouble with. Nymri players also make for very good role-players, an attribute that is again an advantage to gaming on Nymri.
I invite anyone who is looking for something a challenge and home for a character to check out Nymri and see whether it is for them. Take some time with it. Get to learn about the world from both the players and the website. Select an interesting character and get into building up their lives through posts in the In-Character forum and through their actions in-game and you will find your time in Nymri rewarding.

Unfortunately another PW where detail is taken to the nth degree, and beyond. The premise of reality quickly loses it's power as the experience ends up being boring after an hour or so
Staying alive and earning gold makes Nymri the hardest server I've played on. If you enjoy crafting, taxes, equipment that break, risking your life every day, then this is for you. I love it.
Just a hint for new players - don't leave town too early.

A wonderful, realistic (and difficult) PW, Nymri challenges you as much as it rewards you. Come and be welcome . . . and beware!

A wonderful world. Very detailed and the module build is nothing less than amazing. Everything to make it as real and living as possible.
Yes, it is very hard. Think twice before you start playing in hack'n'slash-style with a powerbuilt PC, the game won't last you two seconds. On the otherhand, there is so much to see, explore and learn. Never a dull moment!
The craft system is fantastic. Easy to learn, hard to master. The other day, my PC successfully baked a cherrypie, combining resources he found himself. What a thrill! Right not there are over 1200 "recipies" to craft, ranging from eggs, breads, beer, all the way to armor and weapons, and I'm guessing more to come.
I can still count the number of sessions, very much at newbie status, but those sessions, oh boy! Very close to PnP type play. And I must say, it is by far, the best PW I've played in.
If you're looking for a real, living world based on RP and DM intervention, you got it!

I love the level of realism here. The crafting and the economy makes this a world where monster killing is not the only way to play the game.
I must say, this world IS really rewarding. In other worlds I always had to come up with a reason to go out in the monster areas - in Nymri I _must_ risk my life. The new taxes makes it really hard to just retain status quo. And ... I actually like it. It helps me stay in character to actually have someting to do.
The deathsettings makes me hold my breath everytime I have to go outside town.

this is an awsome server, if you like to role play and be challenged every time the DM is on then this server is for you. It even makes you use the CNR system so that you can get to 2nd level so you can go a little farther out of town...but not to far.

Nymri is what I call a challenging server. With your normal hack-n-slash servers there's not much thinking involved when creating & playing your character. Total opposite at Nymri. The one main trait of the PW I've had to get used to is the Permanent Death. You just can't go wandering anywhere, get killed, and expect to be rez'd when the right person comes along. The DM's are very personal and want each player to be involved in some fashion. The DM's ask that each player create a BIO for their character so the DM's can try to create new plots or somehow merge into existing plots. It takes a bit of time to get used to but the realizism is phanominal.

Nymri is without a doubt the hardest server I have ever been on in my 2+ years of playing NWN. But, it is the most rewarding and involved server I have ever been on as well. The DMs are helpful and fair and they have awesome stories that just draw you in. I have almost 200 hours of play time in Nymri and I have just scratched the surface with my 7th level character. I did loose some characters at the beginning, but just like tabletop gaming, that is all part of the learning process. You should all try it out!!!
