Description
Shroud World extends an invitation....

.......to all Shroud World fans, old and new, to come enjoy our newest release of Shroud World. This recently released version includes a total revision of the quest system; plus over 180 quests that have been added or updated. Shroud World is now a Questers paradise. Quests impact what merchants will sell to you, gives you access to special organizations, and opens up whole new quest story-lines based on which quests you have completed.

In addition to tons of new quests, the player's Fame will directly impact how the inhabitants of the world perceive them. Complete quests for a certain faction and they may offer to sell you unique and fantastic items; fail to aid someone and you may be considered an outsider and certain benefits become unavailable.

Hundreds of new items have been added including special augments that can be used to increase the power of your magic items; effectively allowing you to have some say in what benefits your equipment provides. A brand-new and totally custom Alchemy system allows the dedicated crafter to advance in two different lines of potion making (Divine and Arcane). These powerful potions offer some unique benefits like instant teleportation to far off places or the power to dramatically disable your opponent.

We are very excited to offer these new changes added to Shroud World, one of the oldest persistent worlds that has been enjoyed by thousands. Shroud World, a world built by players for players also offers, as always, the opportunity for players to cross-over and help continually develop the game world.

Shroud World would also like to Announce.....

...the opening of Shroud World - Epic, a second SW server specifically designed to challenge characters levels 25-30+. The Epic server holds true to the desperate and dangerous feel of the original server but with a twist all its own that can only be termed as deadly for the unprepared. With over 200 areas and dozens of quests and adventures, the Epic server offers tons of new possibilities. If you are an old school Shroud World player that feels he or she has bested our world, its time for a rematch.

Also upcoming to the Shroud World - Epic server is the release of Fungus Pit, a level 20-25 adventure where you dare to challenge the fungus creatures in their lair of moss and mold. Fungus Pit includes 10 epic level quests, 16 oozing areas of putrid foes waiting to slime you, and of course, a final encounter with the Avatar of Krell. This new adventure has all the tricks and traits that have always made Shroud World the place to adventure for the stout of heart.

Also upcoming to the Epic Server is the Planar Rift adventure, a 10 area adventure into the extra-dimensional. In addition, we will soon be adding Amber Pendragon's Murder Mystery Adventure. For more information, visit us at the Ezboard Forum: 080.ezboard.com/bapex71990

We look forward to seeing you and hope you have as much fun with these new features as we had creating them

I did a lot of persistant world surfing trying to find a module that had good scripting, lots of quests, an admin staff that doesn't slap your hands every time you play, challenging creatures, and good player community. I would have to say that Shroudworld fills all of those needs.
The scripting of module events, quests, creature AI, Specialty Armor, Weps, Items, and randomized loot generation are by far the best I have seen in a PW so far. The reason prolly is the inclusiveness that the admins have with the player community. They listen to what their players want and also encourage and assist players to help build and design their own areas in the mod.
Certain parts of the world still need to be fleshed out in terms of races, economy, politics, but this pw is definitely a must try on any players list.
Thanks
Amber

I had been playing Shroudworld for about a year when I had to stop for a while. When I came back, I looked around to see if I could find another enjoyable server, since SW was the first one I ever tried. That's when I realized how good this server is. I've seen servers where you start with 90k XP right away, at level 13. I've seen others where it's almost impossible to die even if you try to, and some others where it's more profitable to play solo because whatever class or level you were, there is always some areas where you can get 600 xp per kill for a challenging enemy.

If you ever complained about one of the points I listed up above, you should really try SW. Players there are really nice and fun to play with, they greeted me and took some time to explain some features to me when I first joined. If you ever decide to give it a try, look for my username Fierce_Knight if you have any questions. :)

See you there !

Been on the server for almost 3 years now and the content, challenge and most of all the community keeps me coming back. Some areas have been described as "signature" areas simply because of the uniqueness of the areas and tactical ooportunities. The play is not only fun I feel like I have made many strong friendships here I never thought I could achieve in an online gaming experience.

Joined SW over 3 years ago and while I have been to other PW's (even help build one) I keep coming back to it. I still activly play and I also help build. (When I can.) Most builders are or have been players as well. Player base mostly police themselves and a vast number of custom scripts makes the world unique. SW can boast about being one of the oldest servers. To be able to do that you have to be doing something right.

This is a great Server, with a good community. It's not incredibly huge, but each area has been crafted with the story in mind. Good place to come hang out if you like a challange and a good time.

Spent countless hours here, one of the best worlds around.
A good challenge at every level, with the high level areas requiring a good group able to work together.
Always something fun to do whatever mood youre in.

This was one of the first worlds I tried and I ended up staying. I have been playing on SW for over a year, almost two years now. The people who play on this server are helpful, fun, and mature. The storyline is rich and detailed. This is not all hack and slash, you need to be a strategist, too. The Riddle Cave is probably one of the most unique things about SW. The server admin is second to none in his devotion of time and effort to seeing that SW is the best it can be. The input of the players is valued and used.

This is a richly defined world with lots of storyline. Frankly, it was one of the first ones I stumbled across and I never left. Have been playing there for almost two years now. The server admin is second to none and the community is incredibly helpful and mature.

I'm still here and it's still a lot of fun. We have a great group of friendly players who make great contributions to the development of ShroudWorld. Come check us out.

Okay, that does it. I am making a formal request for this person "alfafakeratings" to be investigated. He's been running around posting in these forums attempting to falsely implicate ALFA in wrongdoings.

Please disregard this troublemaking troll.

Just started playing Shroudworld, and Im enjoying it immensely so far. Great areas that challenge not just by
tough monsters, but also by clever design and puzzles.
First time storming Molor castle was incredible fun :D

Deep storyline supported by quests and dm events.
No uber-items, items usually have both a good and negative effect, which makes for some interesting choices.

Great community, very helpful and fun to play with.

Shroudworld has been my main stay server for sometime now for a variety of reasons. The server not only has a great story and interesting designs it has a community of people that are helpful and fun to play with. The server is more challenging then any I have seen which keeps me coming back for more. The story is rich and class specific epic quests that involve the entire server and a rich storyline make for a wonderful gaming experience.

DM events are well thought out and can be simple or complex. Many DM events span multiple sessions enriching the gaming experience and encouraging people to return to participate and share information.

Probably, the most interesting aspect of server is teh involvment of teh community in helping to shape the world and provide feedback that is used actively to help improve the world and the player experience.

I've been playing on Shroud World for one year and I think it is one of the most interesting and fun PW's out there. The amount of work that has been put into this world is fantastic. I believe the original story has roots from a PnP campaign that Segal started back in the 80's which would explain the huge amount of depth the background and current storyline have. There are a multitude of quests ranging from 15 minute solo efforts to multiple session epic party adventures. Roleplaying varies from medium to heavy (especially for the DM events). The development team is very active and the world is updated with new content on a regular basis. The world offers a challenging and extremely fun gaming experience.
