We look for people who love to develop a character over the long haul, not someone who just wants to see how fast they can get to 40th level in the shortest period of time. Such a desire isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's just not what Sojourney is all about.

Description
Twenty years have passed since Gareth Dragonsbane and his six companions lead the armies of Damara to victory over the Witch King and the demon, Orcus. Relative peace reigned as King Gareth and Queen Christine have struggled to unite the shattered lands of Damara and Vaasa into one kingdom, The Bloodstone Lands.
But now Zhengyi has been brought back by the unfortunate efforts of a group of adventurers who were trying to prevent that very thing. Dragons once again converge on Castle Perilous. Tiamats minions do battle with Bahamuts dragonborn knights. The monks of the Monastery of the Yellow Rose train in preparation for... the unknown. Undead roam the night, terrifying lonely farms. Adventurers gather in Bloodstone Gate to hunt bounty on the orcs, goblins and giants which stalk the Vaasan wilderness. While, somewhere in a mountain pass, rests the Citadel of Assassins.
Come experience the majesty of Damara and Vaasa with our overland map system. Our gamemasters have more than 50 years of pen-n-paper experience and delight in providing detailed, in-depth games.
Tis December, 2008 . . . and Sojourney continues to lend its support to NWN1. _________________________ Project Manager, Sojourney

A truly wonderful server. The DM's are mature gamers with an eye for a deeper story and real consequences. The world evolves with the players. Experience is hard-won and all the sweeter for it. The gaming experience is top-notch, from the forums, to the depth of role-play, to the new tiles and eye-candy. So glad to have found this new home.

The staff has always been helpful there. The sessions I have been in have all been top notch.
As a co-admin from near the start, I hop in to DM or give "sagely advice" as often as I can to the members and staff. I made some content, nothing to brag about. But I keep coming back for the people and the pen-paper session-style gaming I need.
Sure, take the praise with a grain of salt. I thought everyone alread -did- that. To need to post cynicism about the veracity of the praise appears to be an attempt to draw attention. Move along, people: we already know you'll form your own opinion and find our flaws. What fun is being perfect, anyway?
What I must stress is how much the player feedback has improved and tweaked our gaming experience. Although here posts a fellow willing to doubt a fun factor based on praise, I can safely say our game just gets better with our membership's feedback both yay and nay. If part of our game needs redone: we inspect and take it seriously. If our group loves one aspect, we try to find out what worked and bring it back better in new ways. We're a living, alert organization, flaws and all.
Put a fork in me, I'm done. ;) _________________________ In Darkness Dwells the Lie of Truth. -PSV

schzacks -
You asked the question. There are imperfections and I'll tell you that we do lack an experienced scriptor so our scripted content is not great. Heck we haven't even implemented Subraces yet. We had a great scriptor, but he left months into the project and we haven't been able to replace him. There have been quite a number of players that have moved on for various reasons including this server was not for them. So you're hearing this from one of the Admin.
We have a pretty good player base that respects each other and they get along really well. We weed out the power-gamers and those that want to treat it like a computer game. Surprise...it is a computer game. But we like to have DMs run sessions with players like PnP Games. That's where we are doing things well. Not differently or better than anyone else.
Posting negative comments about the server and the comments made by the community members isn't constructive. I wouldn't post any comments about ALFA(A Land Far Away) because I have never played on their servers. I could post something about City of Arabel, since that is where I started my Nwn online gaming.
We have gained many of our players through running games on NW Connections. Most of them have stuck around, satisfied to a degree with what they found in us. Even I'm not totally satisfied with what I've built, but it suits us fine.
I'm not sure, schzacks, why you would be stunned and amazed that comments left by a world's players would be positive. If they weren't having a good time, then they would have moved on to somewhere else, thereby rendering any comment immaterial. No place is perfect, and a reasonable person understands that. I truly hope you find what you're looking for. _________________________ Project Manager, Sojourney

.....why is it that just about every server board i read has almost nothing but people with nothing to type but praise?
your all saying that every one of these servers has no flaws at all? that none of them specialize themselves in any way that leaves anyone turned off? that the impossible is possible time and time again?
or are most of you just trying to earn browny points with the dm's?
.....when i see these praise-alanches, i don't trust them. i espect to play on a REALISTIC server that can't do everything perfectly, but which dose most of the important things right. preferably with some of the more optional perk level features of originality or pedigree.
i'll try this server at some point in my list, but i'm disappointed in the board bases in general for having no collective spine.

Well as Project Manager and Lead Designer of Menzoberranzan I guess what has lead me there is that I have been fascinated by the drow since the first modules came out in PnP, and particularly since the Box Set came out. I have always wanted to be a part of building this city and we are now close to finishing the main city. We have some very knowledgable DM's and we set a hardcore RP environment in the chaotic world of the Underdark City. I am also involved a bit on the other Sojourney servers though I do not build on them at all. Please give us a look and enjoy the experience.

I give it a perfect 10. Not only is it the best Pw I have ever seen but the DM's are phenominal. I am mainly a part of the Menzoberranzan side of it but the time I have spent on the sister servers I have enjoyed very much as well.

As a DM and Builder on the Menzoberranzan server, I and the rest of our team strive to make this particular corner of the Underdark as detailed as possible. With custom creatures and items as well as the DMFI wands package, we've tried to give our players an immersive experience, with all of the intrigue and excitement that is expected of the preeminent drow city of the Underdark.

Like above, except I didn't vote back then. There, 10 out of 10 for DM effort, great RPers, and a vast and immersing world in the Forgotten Realms setting.

Fantastic project, first step to seeing Faerûn: The Complete Game World :D
The servers have a real PnP feel to them and you can be sure that you'll only meet other serious roleplayers.

What can I say, it looks and plays great. The DM'ed sessions are fantastic, but you can also wander freely with a character if you choose to. I've played a lot of NWN servers, and this is the best one I've come to... and I'll be here for a long while yet!
