The cold wind passes through your hair, light crunch of snow under your boots. 'This place could freeze even the lower hells' you muse as the snow begins to fall again for the 4th straight day. Squinting for a moment, the snow must be getting to you, it almost appears to be a line of smoke rising from the north. Picking up the pace, you rush forward, maybe there is civilization out here after all. Coldwood is a module based in Faerun. We have put alot of time into its design, but the real benefit we have as we build playerbase is a general understanding of common sense, rather than piles of rules. Our players are all friends, as are our DMs whether we know each other or not. So come by and see what we have going, you might enjoy yourself.
Thank you everyone who voted for giving an honest opinion about everything rather than just a list of 10's. nothing is perfect and we always like to strive to improve the module.

Pretty good module. Could use some polishing. The DMs do a pretty decent job and are fair.

Overall, I gave Coldwood an 8... And rambled on a little about it... See below...
Players - One of the best group of players I've had the pleasure of RPing with. They're out to have fun, they RP at an exceptionally high level without being RP Nazis (Something that has turned me off some other, otherwise very good servers) and they're all very welcoming to new players. (Watch out for Eledaar though, he smells kinda funny)
DMs - The DMs are just as good as the players... In fact all of the DMs are players. There's rarely a DM far away in Coldwood always ready to help out and ensure that the players are having fun, whether that's through fixing bugs or running devilishly e-bil plots. (Watch out for Eledaar though, he eats kittens)
Module - Overall the module is excellent. Well designed, looks good (Though quite monochrome... It is set in a snowy forest after all) and there's always something to do. The only minor gripes I would have are considering some of the models found in the HAK pack which I think are a little below standard or unneccessary But that's a very small gripe indeed. That and the flesh eating mice... (I suspect they were Eledaar's fault... watch out for him)
Traffic - At the moment traffic is pretty thin on the ground, it only really gets busy after the bi-weekly campaign sessions. That said, if there's even one other player on you'll have a great time. (Watch out if its Eledaar though...)

Small but growing is the most accurate description one could give the module. A lot of work has been put into it and more is being put into it everyday. The dms are a friendly bunch for the most part. If you don't openly disagree with them like some people then you should be fine ~_^ Set in an original setting, Coldwood boasts unique npc hostiles and friendlies ranging from Centaurs to Driders with a few quests to help newcomers get some xp under their belt. It's also entertaining if you're just looking for some good roleplaying. For all you drizzt wannabes the Coldwood Administration has, against better judgement, even allowed drow! So go in and cause a ruckus, defeating what makes a drow a drow by being kind and light hearted with your scimmy's of Kickyoass! Ahem...anyways, Give it a shot I say, even if you don't like it you can atleast get some use out of the hakpak hehe.

Campaign -- gets a solid 9.
PW -- about a 7, getting better all the time.
The campaign has been excellent -- immersive, entertaining, challenging, and rewarding. The DM crew and players are top-notch. Coldwood has struck a nice balance between 'roleplay' and game play. If you've spend any time playing the popular NWN PW servers out there then you know how rare it is to find a balanced server that isn't either ridiculously geared towards monty haul style hack 'n slash or an intensely drama driven 'MUSH' like soap opera. Coldwood occupies a nice middle ground. Bottom line -- it's fun!
The PW is improving as the developers continue to build and refine it. If the flavor of the campaign carries over into the PW (and I think it will) then Coldwood will prove to be a 'must-try' server.

Ive been playing on this server for several months now and it has been a blast. The mod is still a work in progress but it is still nothing short of fantastic. The scenery/mod design is fabulous, the DMs are great (creative, helpful, friendly and hardworking) and the players are incredible (very friendly and their RP cant be beat). I would highly recommend this PW to anyone who is serious about RPing and enjoys the old PnP D&D style adventure.

Gnomes are sexy...
Oh, I'm supposed to comment on the PW? I've really played almost exclusively in the campaign, which is a blast. It's well-run, has a great storyline, makes use of characters' talents, and is challenging but live-through-able.
From what I've seen PW-wise: There are still some quirks being worked out with the mod. It's getting fleshed out and all of that. At the moment, the DM/player ratio is great, so that you pretty much get a DM playing with you at all times. The players are great, very high quality RPers. This mix of good players and DMs and the nice DM/player ratio makes for a nice, dynamic atmosphere where monsters and NPCs feel intelligent, and characters can make a real impact on the world that you might not get on a gargantuan server.

You know the common gripes of the big servers. You don't get any DM attention for events or it's once in a blue moon when you do. When you die in a big server you don't get any help because no one knows anyone else and everyone's concerned about themselves. You lose stuff to a crash or die because of a bug? No help at all. Coldwood is a small community of friendly and awesome roleplayers that will help out new comers and develop relationships with characters you create. If you're looking for some attention, be it player or DM based, this is the place to find it and nows the time to join. If you're looking for a unique and custom environment that you can have fun interacting, this is also the place for you. If you're just looking for some nice people to have a good time with and even become good friends with, then this is definitely the place for you. Coldwood roxors, so check it out!
I currently play on the Coldwood Server in the campaign and I am training to DM in the PW. I love this server. The people are great, and so is the game itself. We're small, so if you have a question, it's likely to get answered quickly :) Drop by our IRC channel or forums if you're even slightly curious!Currently playing in Coldwood Campaign/PW
