Initially, all non-equipped items are dropped when you respawn. At levels 3 onwards, all items are dropped and XP is reduced to the start of the current level. Player ressurection via spells incur no penalties.

These are covered in detail on our web site, which we'd recommend you check. Basically, we use the HCR, with some custom innovations for a persistent world, including a crafting system, respawning treasure chest, respawning traps and so on. In terms of player behaviour, our golden rule is that pretty much anything goes as long as you don't detract from the enjoyment of others on the server. Roleplay to your hearts content! In terms of game requirements, we aim to use no hak paks, in order to make it easy to reach and play for everyone.
This is attempt to reproduce an area of the Dungeons and Dragons gameworld the Forgotten Realms known as the Dalelands. How? By using Neverwinter Nights and its official expansion packs (Hordes of the Underdark and Shadows of Undrentide) to create a persistent world for roleplay and adventure. We use the Community Expansion Pack to provide lots of additional custom content, without requiring you to download anything specifically for us. We are aiming for a fun environment for roleplayers, with plenty of quests, actions and live DMing We currently have an large number of DMs, building new content or providing live events during different timezones around the world, providing high adventure and terror for those who fight to save the Dales.

Hello I'm posting in regards to the "Most players perfer harsh death penalties" line...
I don't believe that. If the player wanted 'realistic' deaths they'd play a perm death server. most rpers don't want to lose. Losing isn't fun.

Though I have not played on this server for quite some time, I do recall the effort put into it and the great DM-team involved. A few of the players I once played with are now DMs here...and well deserved.
This PW is very well made, kept and DM'd and will captivate many players even when NWN2 has reared it's head. _________________________ Insanity, another form of professionalism!

Though very tough (and kinda frustrating) at level 1, this PW is really great.
Friendly players, active and helpful DM's. Many areas, lots of details.

Been here for almost 2 years. Great mix of RP and action. Good DM coverage for US evenings and weekends. New additions to the server keep things fresh. A great place to RP, hunt monsters, or just hang out.

BIG server! Lots of new content recently, including 2 new Dales (Featherdale & Harrowdale) PLUS the Border Forest and the old Tethyamar Fortress and Mines. Did I mention the Underdark and a portal to Avernus?

If you looking for a place to have fun and RP you won't find a better place then the Dales. The DM and the players make it one of the fun places to be.

A very good PW with extremely friendly and helpful players and a good DM team. If you're looking for a Forgotten Realms PW that is true to the source material and fun to play in, this is a server you should check out.

The Dalelands is a phenomenal, expansive PW with a _very_ active, excellent DM team. I have been playing on the server for a few months now, and am having an absolute blast. The server is designed to be pretty forgiving to newbie solo characters, though at most all times parties are encouraged. RP is the primary mission, everyone I've met on the server is great fun to game with. Powergamers and PvPers need not apply.

I've been playing on the server for about a year now and it's excellent. A good blend of Realism, Roleplay, Accuracy to published works, and good old-fashioned mayhem make for a fun and rewarding experience. If you're looking for a challenge and stimulating role play this is the place for you. The DMs are interested in having and providing fun, not being tyrants. The only complaint I've ever heard repeated is that it stinks to die. Having died more than once, it's bad, but not the end. Come play, I look forward to seeing you there.

A very well done rp world of the low-xp and magic variety. Quests are really done well here. Unfortunately the huge xp loss upon death makes me not want to play more than a few levels. Also have the impression the world is not quite 'finished' ....

One of the best parts about the Dalelands server are the people who play on it. I really enjoy playing on the server, I've been on a number of them and the Dalelands is by far my favorite. The fact that it's HAK-free makes it extremely accessible to new players.
