Based in the Forgotten Realms, The Silver Marches setting. Many Quests and a lot of oppourtunity to Role play. Dm events happen almost every day. We have variety of Player guilds and chances of players getting involved in politics . We like getting the players involved deeply in the PW.
Classes like Paladin , Monks, Clerics, Druids, and Rangers are regulated. Forgotten Realms Multi-classing rules for the classes. A Cleric must have the correct domains for the deties.

I just spent a few horrible hours on this game and it was the most boring time I've ever had on any world; there were a handful of folks here, more yesterday, and I talked to one but he had to go off and save the world or something; he told me it's not solo friendly; very RP; fine enough; you get xp randomly for no reason at all while wandering around; but that's about all you can do to get xp is wander around and do nothing because EVERYTHING you encounter will eat your lunch. I only found right outside the starter town a dire bear (he killed me in 1 hit), a huge viper (I had him half dead before I was poisoned and dead), and 2 orc scouts, and I hit 1 once before I died; this was as a paladin with high ac and shield and toughness and luck of heroes for extra saves and hp; you can't do ANYTHING alone without dying other than wander around...I will NEVER go back to this stupid ridiculous and boring game. It MIGHT have been better with somebody but it's next to impossible to find another player who is starting level or close to that; besides, it takes FOREVER to even find something to kill, sometimes like 3 or 4 zones for 1 or 2 mobs! This game should have been called The Pointless Boring Marches Around Vast Empty Spaces! I never found a SINGLE quest giver in the huge starter town! Ton of garbage crafting loot to pick from plants and such but you can't sell it and it would probably take months to figure out how to craft with it...I never even found the crafting areas...pointless.
Its been a long time since I have visited this page, and it seems, from the comments below, it has indeed proven to be a power tripping managed server. I am sorry to hear such, as from my experience, many servers which have the first rule as "DM rules are final, nothing else matter" type of rule suggests a power tripping direction from the DMs.
From my experience, there is a pattern is a development of a server, first, everyone is very passionate towards to the server development and the goal, interaction between the DMs and players are seems to be on a common ground, but once the server is developed to a certain more soild stage, the DM team would feel their importance, may be they dont need the players contribuation as much as before, and instead, protect what they have and would freely bash other players that "smells" differently then what they expect, this is of course an egotistic nature of mankind, I wonder if this sever, has also fallen in this common fate of many others.
My question is, if the above is correct, or have touches some of the problems happened in the server, what is the plan you have to improve thouse situations.
Thanks. _________________________ "I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen, han mathon ne chae, a han noston ned 'wilith."
I can't be bothered with anything these days, but such is life. I don't care. So it goes. More or less nothing seems worth thinking about. I've just been hanging out waiting for something to happen, but that's how it is.

I have jumped into here and seen fatgato post his remarks, and when someone rates others stuff low simply to boost his ratings up, that ain't cool. I personally will not be back here and thought it was lame.

I was on this quite a while ago, and it was probably one of the best RPG servers I had been on whilst playing NWN. Not perfect (I mean, what is perfect?) but still incredibly good compared to thousands of other servers that were online.

This server lost some key builders and players. Junk in the trunk now, with moronic staff.

This place is horrible. Talk about dead...

Bahh, the silver marches have been dead for a long time now. Currently theres about five or less regulars playing there, who never knew what the hell happened. The DMs are a bunch of power-tripping, abusive morons. I cant be bothered to point out the huge ammount of mistakes they make, but trust me. You ought not to join this server, it will merely ruin youre mood and game experience.
Despite that, the server "description" is all wrong. The item value is somewhat equal to that which you had in Baldurs Gate, if not worse.. There are so few magic items and maximum for them all is +3 which only comes in Deity Gear. The experience is very hard to come by, and the level cap is 20. There are so many rules and restrictions one could get sick..
There be allmost no Prestige classes available without having to write one of these silly applications which you wont get answered on.
This place used to be cool. But has lost its concept LONG LONG LONG ago.. and is now but a dusty and dull chat room.
Ive had my fun here, one of the best times ive ever had in online gaming, and played here for ages!! Even the current DMs have contributed to the fun ive had. But seems they no longer wish for us to actually enjoy the game, only presence you will have from them is either stripping you for all equiptment and experience, or setting up rather boring events that eventually will get you killed.
And be carefull about youre roleplay, cause there are exceptions when it comes to their point of view. Play by the staffs character ideas, or get a boot shoved up youre butt and a tempoary ban. This is straight out madness.

That is basically a disclaimer that has to be there because, yes there have been some troublesome players in the past. Sometimes, but not often, it is needed to go to this rule when also disputing game mechanics and other issues. It's the same thing as if you were playing a pen and paper session; the dm is the one in charge.
However, all that aside, DMs here are not about getting rid of you or your characters. Where's the fun in that? They are there to help you and the server grow. The rules are a necessary part of that :)

Hey everyone, I'm PrimalEval, one of the new DMs of the Silver Marches.
Our server is up and very much alive. A huge update is in the works that will add several new features/goodies to the MOD soon that will definitly be a fresh new feel for old players and new.

I find it interesting that someone would post without saying who they are and then make accusations. My playername is SIUlawdawg and I have been a DM with this server for about 18 months, and have played there for 2 years.
Like all servers there are bumps. To say the current admininstration are not "D&D people" is absurd. I have been playing D&D since for almost twenty years, as have many of the people involved.
I suggest that you not take my word for it, but come and try the module itself.

Dead server...ever since the DM hand over this server is now in control of some very non-D&D people. It WAS a good server but sucks huge now.

I thought they were staying up so maybe they are just having a "hiccup". If you are looking for another Silver Marches site, until they come back up, come check out the other one that is going strong.

Yeah....all and all it is rather lame! It's supposed to be fun but people often forget about that....
You never know though, maybe the SM will sort itself out..

Hi All,
Definetly among, if not, the best servers I have played on. The players are friendly and if you RP your charcter well you will never have a problem finding someone to adventure with and I always end up coming back.
The custom content is great with a little CEP and PRC Consortium spells and PRC's. Seems these guys are always in the loop when it comes to NWN community advances.
End of the day everyone here is just up for a little fun on a server that remains true to the Forgotten Realms so come and check it out.

Hello all,
I think this post is prudent to new player since they might not know where to go once they FIRST start off in the MOD and reading all the boards and stuff when you want to get in and play can be kind of a pain SO:
In a nutshell once you spawn into the main area, TRY to real the rules about playing at SM but when you do decide to get into the game, I would suggest starting in a place called Rauvin's Ford. It's not a REAl part of the Forgotten Realms Setting, but it's been a focal point for the MOD since it's inception way back when, so we've kept it as an ode to the MOD creator. *Thumps chest* Ith this ones for you! :)
At any rate, this place will nearly always have a few people eager to chat things up with newbies to the Silver Marches. So go there, try to have a pint at the Inn just to the left off the Docks and enjoy your time.
Cheers,
Brug

I have Played on many servers and this is the best one out there in my opinion, It has so many things going for it and for a new or old player there is alot to see and do. The mod is always having new things added and the Haks used are stable and well worth the time it takes to DL. Many player driven guilds and groups and one of the best diety ranges of any mod i have ever seen. Lots of DM coverage and are a helpful group. I give it a two thumbs up.

'Allo!
I've played The Silver Marches through several of it's versions over the last two years or so. I've been gone for several months, but once i got back into the mod and saw all the changes I was impressed all over again.
The cast and crew (i.e: players and DMs) of the Marches have always been topnotch. Sure, we've had bad apples and we've had people that eventually burned themselves out on the game. That doesn't really matter though; the custom content, the overall freedom to play who you want to play, these things are what make a server fun in the long run. And the Marches has this and so much more. We have people that CARE about how fun the mod is for the people playing in it. And, most important to me, we have a DM crew that attempts to make the mod resemble the printed version of the Silver Marches as much as possible. Maybe that isn't as important to others as it is to me, but being able to go to those places that the Silver Marches is famous for (SIlverymoon, Mithril Hall) is a serious plus for me. _________________________ Trying to explain magic with words is like trying to cut roast beef with a screwdriver.

Gotta hate this world of chaos and death.. Its the lamest server around and the DMs are all lunatic dwarves in underpants with halberds.. Err.. no..? Well yeah.. I like SM and been here since may last year (end of 1.0) love the mod hate the staff ;)
They all do good, and Brug and Ferrin have enhanced SM alot lately. Thanks to you guys and all youre DM crew members too.

Now that I have played for a bit, I have to say Silver Marches is the best of everything that makes multiplayer fun. Interesting quests, a great roleplaying community, a large expansive world to explore, and active DM's that really get involved. Plus the forums are an active an lively aspect of the community. Highly recommended for anyone that enjoys roleplaying.
