Razor's Urath Online is a NWN server that has a history which started many years ago when Urath was an online MUD. Urath is a world where a community of heroes struggles against adversity. In the First Age of Urath, all was chaos, but there arose a force to counter it, the Word. As the Word fragmented, the power of the Word became Magic and the Gods were formed. The Gods used their might to create Urath, forming stone and earth, water and ice, fire and flame, mist and air. The last remnants of the Word were scattered. In the 4th age, the heroes hoped to unite the Lore of the Word by discovering myths and histories, ancient artifacts, and places. Instead, they got a second gods war that devestated the world. In 5th age, it is 3000 years later. The heroes are learning what has happened, and making there way in a world that has changed. The server is updated by the Dev team to reflect changes to the world made by the players daily. Events are held almost daily. Come and try us out!
This is an RP rich world. Character vs. Character conflict does exist, but only for In character reasons. You may opt out of it if you wish. There is a small hak linked below that is nessecary as well as CEP. Post here or visit our forums if you have questions.
Our original custom Crafting system is marvelous and the source of much joy.

a small but growing community that has some amazing rp, and entertaining (though sometime very adult) stories. It has been a blast building the history of my character on this server. The personal attention and friendliness makes it a fun place to be.

I'm so dim - If you want to read what I though of the world check out the view stats bit - It seems posts go there if a vote is cast.

Well it's been another month full of added content. Rage and Awol have been working hard to add things that I've never seen before. Summons have changed to a different form of elemental. unique items and unique creatures abound around the world as the world grows larger and larger. Appling Mana to items that you find is still in the progress stage. The more your skill grows the better your able to gather ingrediants for crafting or for healing yourself. Right now there working hard to make sure Lag isn't a problem to make sure everyones log in experience is enjoyable.

I am still thinking of a Name for my character for the 5th Age. I watch my husband play it all the time. I love how everything you want you have to work hard at getting it. In the 4th Age it was to easy. Myself I like to have to work hard at getting things.

You know...I've looked around the entire universe searching desperately for some good old fashioned roleplay. I've searched chatrooms, message boards, made my own, read source books, played with action figures, tried making movies, I've done it all.
Now enough about me...
Point is...I'm really picky about games. I'm picky because a lot of times a roleplaying game just turns into a stupid hack and slash fest. The people talk like weirdos with all that l337-speak. Or the people that run the game are all at odds with each other. That all has changed with ol' Urath.
There is not a single clique between players and they are all very friendly. The DMs care about the players. One time a DM completely scrapped hours of roleplay because of something that had happened with me. We hadn't talked things out and no one was made or anything. They just took a different course.
The landscaping is very nice. And there are all the bells and whistles that you would expect to see such as crafting and skinning and other things built in for fun.
But one of the things that a player rarely has the option to do...is what makes Urath v. 5 the strongest. The player has the ability to make intense changes. For example if you start working on a camp...a DM might set it up and on the next server reset...POW! There it is.
Players will have a huge impact then on the game. And there is a ton to be explored. The area is a little small now, but there IS more, we just have to discover it. Everyone then starts out as a stranger thus far in this game, popping out of a cave and not knowing what's going on.
The character development so far is really good and there is no chance that I'm going to leave this game. This is the kinda thing you wish all MMORPGs were like. If you had to pay 9.95 a month or something, you would pay for this. It's free, thankfully, but from the way the developers are constantly working...you'd think they did get paid for it.
The ultimate reward for them though, is to see the contentment of the players. And if you buy that, the payload is a rich one.

Right now is a great time to play. This weekend we all started out at first level relying on each other for protection like a tribe it was neat. So far there are around 10 to 15 maps available. The DM's are allowing us to build our own world. All we have to do is RP out what we want to build and the DM's will work to build what we want. Path's being made city's built. It's a fun time for Urath as we build the world that was destroyed so many years ago by the power struggle between Tokana the evil one and the other God's that faught against her. She found out though that no one screw's with Ur for he alway's hold's the trump card. Knowledge is power baby *shwing!*

I've seen the worlds with repetitive hacking and slashing, scripted quests with players literally lined up to take their turn at the goal creature or deliver the item to the NPC.
I've seen the worlds where new arivals are greeted with 'noob u suxor' if you don't automatically know the things people that have been 'playing' there for some time do.
I've seen the worlds where new arrivals are killed on the spot by higher level characters simply because they chose the wrong faction or race at character creation or they didn't address someone they'd never met before 'properly'.
I've seen the worlds where if you get the slightest bit off the script you get lashed out at and the ones where if you haven't read a particular D&D novel out of all the hundreds that are out there your RP skills are called into question, here's a hint for those ones in particular, RP or read, pick one only, my characters don't have access to a Coles bookstore.
Those worlds don't do a thing for me, no matter how well the world's made or how original the content, they're missing the spark.
What I like about Urath is how the players drive the story and even make dramatic worldwide changes from time to time by their actions and plots alone and speaking as one who's had more than one plotline suddenly vanish in a puff of smoke and also screwed up other people's as well, I can say that the most fun of all is trying to figure out how to get it going again, frustrating as it can be at times, and seeing what's going to rise up out of the ashes.
You can't do that with an AI, no matter how good it is, you need real thinking people who use emotions, knowledge, skill, some intuition, a bit of pure guesswork, a healthy dose of imagination and an ability to think on their feet just like in RL. Most of all though, you need players and DM's with a desire to let others have as much fun as they're having.
There are a lot of worlds that come close, some have more intricate scenery although not many; some have more monsters but again, not many...until the first time you've faced three drifters by yourself, you don't know fear; there are ones with more frequent and more powerful magic items and weapons, but Monty Haul campaigns get a bit stagnant quickly and if everyone's got a +75 sword of monster slaying they're not worth much; there may even be some with more approachable and hardworking DM's and players, but I haven't found them. Some places are just as good or better in one or more aspects, but I've yet to see one that can beat the combination in Urath.
Thanks everyone for making Urath a place I want to keep coming back to, over and over again.

As a new player to RP and Urath 2 years ago. I have not left the server since. The stories lines are spectacular with very talented player writers and DM's keeping the world exciting.
