Description
The first people to discover the place was a group adventuring dwarves. They set out to find a relic of great power - they found themselves trapped in a land that knows no exits. They called the place Xunder Burakan - Secret Passage. Time passed and more arrived. People of all races of Faerun began to appear in the twisting caverns of the underdark. Not long after the dwarves a few drow appeared. Then elves, then humans, then gnomes, eventually every race was represented. The dwarves tried to explain to new arrivals their situation. They tried to explain they were trapped, in a world that was unescapable. In time the original dwarves died off. Either by misfortune or violence. What knowledge they held was lost with them. It was not long after this the drow saw their opportunity. They seized the only source of food in the known caverns. They rallied their subordinates into a makeshift village. A grudging coexistence came to be...

Hak = yak I hate added haks. Getting tired of downloading them. RP is a little to strict here for my liking. Other then that this server has a pretty strong chance at making a name for it's self. I might stop back some time and see how things go here.

What's impressed me most about this place is the map layout, and things they've been able to do with ambient sounds and lighting. Very clever visuals. This is not an easy mod. Unless you are able to join up with a few veterans, you are doomed. The AI is very good, xp is hard to come by, and death extremely harsh. It has been made clear that role play tokens are the primary means of gaining xp at lower levels. This is one of the drawbacks of the mod, since if no DMs are on to award the tokens, and you are a character of low power unable to gain xp the traditional way(killing stuff), you basically just sit and wait. It's a good premise, but unless the dm coverage is good enough, and the player base big enough to foster role play in the first place, there will be problems with this system. I encourage people reading this to check out the mod! With enough players, the xp system should really work fine.
The mod is very detailed. Water for the most part is tainted and mildly poisoned, so long, arduous journeys are often made to find a pure source. Same goes for rothe meat...not good eating. The language system is very nice. You have to find secret training areas for all of the prestige classes in order to level in them. I still don't know where the pale master spot is.
A good mod with good players and dms. Just a lack of them at the moment.

Visually and game-wise beautiful modification set in a dark and depressing environment. Battles are tough, like they should be, and the possibility to get exp from RPing is available. Characters can feel that they are inferior to the various factions and forces in and around the cities, something I personally really enjoy. Even though you may initially feel "worthless" there are ways to change this. You can work your way up in one of the factions and physically as well as RP-wise change the surroundings by building new constructions and research things of interest.
Xunder Burakan is one of the few mods I consider worth getting HAKs for and spend your time roleplaying in.

The areas are beautiful and unique, playerbase and DMs are dedicated to immersive role playing. Helpful staff who allow the players to have an impact on the world. Bonus experience is awarded for role playing, allowing you to advance if you do not wish to kill monsters.

After playing many roleplay intensive servers. I must say this server sets itself appart by being in a city of the underdark. Lost and devoid of hope. A real change from the goody goody type cities that are prominent. Evil characters plotting, good characters trying to make things better. It is very refreshing to see PnP like roleplaying. Not to mention some of most breathtaking area's i have seen. Exellent PW.

Great module full of strong roleplaying and fun, well thought out areas.

This server is totaly different from those I played before. Beatiful and carefully constructed areas wtih attention to detail, great NPCs. Deep, gothic, even claustrophobic atmosfere and much more pros... ;)

With a very friendly community and friendly team this RP based world has truly out paced many others that you would see. Constant updates assure that bugs will be taken care of and balance kept so. And with new features in the works constantly the world will never lie static. Xunder Burakan is a truly well developed world and worth the download to try.

An very well constructed world with good player and good DM's.
The grafic with all Hak's are the best Ive seen in any NWN world. Makes it possible to create very individual characters.
However nothing is perfect. Two things here that lower my rating are lagg problem. And they dont depend on connection I think. Maybe its all nice grafic causing them. The other thing are lack of player at my regular computer time (GMT -1 evenings). Mostly 5 or less player at that time.
Still I recomend this server to any one who like a good RP time. Every one stay in character, and thats something I value very high on a RP-server.

Xunder Burakan was the second project I've worked on. Initially I created World of Palladium with Lastwordz and others. Xunder Burakan came out of a desire to create something more focused on social roleplaying in a darker, more difficult, and more sinister environment. As well as a desire to create something based in FR instead of Palladium.

A huge amount of effort has been made to make Xunder Burakan infinitly interesting. Every NPC in the main city has a conversation, personality, description, unqiue look, etc. The amount of detail we've put into the areas is easily evident from the intro sequence on.

Winterseason and NebulousBlurr have also created a base module that is incredibly versatile.

With things like corruptable deity shrine with persistent peity for players. The ability to defile those shrines restore them and eventually the ability to get boons from them. Clerics and other deity related classes are checked automatically for a valid deity, alignment, and domain selection. Which helps ensure these characters are properly created and roleplayed.

Thirst, Hunger, and Fatigue are modified by the difficulty to find clean water and untainted food.

You can buy slaves aswell, goblins, and kobolds, aswell as Rothe pack animals, and mages can create undead that are actually henchmen persistently stored when you log out. You can outfit them with gear and use them day after day. Which is really cool. The slaves are persistent henchmen aswell.

There's also a large library in the city where you can conduct various types of research for research notes items that can e used in building structures and wards and that sort of thing. As well as used by DMs in any quest they cook up that may recquire something like that.

We're in the process of adding a highly modified CNR with all custom recipes. So far weapon smithing, brewing, tinkering, minging, and gem cutting have been added. With plans to add many more, like armorsmithing, scribing and others.

Our Dms are some of the best coming from a wide range of experience and other prominent RP servers. They've all been playing NWNs for a long time and work well together aswell as with other people. We emphasize communication, team work, and tolerence towards players. One thing I often disliked on other servers were elitist and/or rude DMs. We try to be inviting and helpfull but at the same time we also enforce our rules to ensure the server atmosphere is maintained.

Most often you can level from RP Bonus items alone.

Right now the server is busy mostly after 6:00 or 7:00pm CMT. We hope to see more people getting on as we go and seeing a larger server population.

Hope you all stop by and check us out.

Xunder Burakan is something totally new to me. Never have I played in a server that takes it place in a underdark world. It gives so much more space for plots, quests, adventures, instead of just the original kingdom in the middle of somewhere that is threathend by dragons etc etc. Xunder Burakan is realy something new.

There are many areas to find out, starting with an excellent made intro that introduces your character to the world, you just continue to be amazed by how stunning theese areas look like. The theme is realy dark, dramatic and ghotic. It's a very unique setting. It's superbly scripted, and almost no bugs. There are also CNR being added, for people who needs things to do when his friends are not around.

One unique thing with XB is also that dm's gives out lots of roleplay bonuses. A lot of servers promise rp xp but never gives it to you unless you do it extremly well. In XB, a dm will reward you for simply having a constructive conversation. But it's not just talking, it's everything from reaction, emoting, character twists, to performing that gives you xp. I know that several people has been able to even gain levels by roleplaying, which is very apriciated on Roleplay heavy servers since we all want to have a decent level but dosn't always want to go out and kill 25 Überdragons.-Angel, Undergarden Gnome

XB is a great server to come and roleplay on. The roleplay is top notch and the DM coverage is great. The world is designed with thought and nothing makes you wonder, "What were they thinking?" With enough adventure to keep any veteran entertained, Xunder Burakan makes a great server to come play on.

Xunder Buraken, now I have played a few servers, mostly enforced rp servers and many top notch and so far its the best imo. Firstly the roleplay is great with many seasoned players adding to the atmosphere and story of the server. Characters are in depth and there is always a steady progression. As it happens due to the Rp a large portion of exp can be made just by roleplaying your character, nice indeed, although it takes good rp to gain such. As for adventure, loot and so forth it is there but takes time. You make your own adventure unless you happen upon one of many dms or find a static quest. Loot kingly in find and no magical weapons in every container.

As for the world itself, completely immersive. Most areas are amazing to look at, the detail is amazing and the design matches. There are few Pws that have such high detail. Time is put into quality npcs and interaction. There is a handful(understatement) of superb scripting that adds to what you thought was possible to do in a persistant world. There is so much that a character can do as long as you put the time and effort into it and you can actually make a difference and cause changes in the mod.

I would say, if you are interesting in a quality roleplaying community Xunder Buraken is the one to check out. Now I will say at times things can be slow but if you give it the chance you will quickly find that you have discovered a server unmatched in creation and roleplay and stick around. More players bring more activity so the "slow" comment could easily be altered.
Other mentions: Custom HCR, CNR, Unique FR setting, Haks, Community that has been with Nwn since day 1, MIRC channel, Language System and much more.

Final Thought: Try Xunder(actually play a few days, not one session) and discover a amazingly superb -True Roleplaying- server/community or Don't try and miss out on the best. I suggest having a gander at the website and stop by the chat room(MIRC or webbased).

One of the best servers ever. Xunder offers the perfect balance of high adventure and top-notch roleplaying with a host of wonderfully creative players and DMs. If youve searched for a server where you can stay fully immersed in your character and where the challenge and excitement equal the unparalleled roleplay then this is the one to experience.

By far one of the best servers I've played on. Great playerbase that loves to RP as well as a excellent group of dedicated DMs that makes the world fun... World is rich in history, challenging, and has great environmental atmosphere.

A great server - Extremely polished and varied... High quality role-playing from all players, active DM interaction through a 'light touch'. Active politics, full immersion in the environment and team work make this an excellent place to spend many hours. Highly recommended, please give it a try...
