House rules
Tricks and traps - Heavy. We have some creative builders that have made unique dungeons and lairs. Not just "three levels of goblins, undead, and demons with a boss at the lowest level who holds the big treasure", our areas are designed with atmosphere, server messages that reveal "flavor text" like the old boxed text from early edition D&D modules, creative placement of traps and secret doors, and custom-made monsters.
Roleplaying - Heavy. Players are encouraged to write a background for their PCs and submit it to a special forum, accessed only by DMs. This allows for you character's secrets to remain her own, but lets the DMs in on her true nature, goals, loves and hates. DMs use these backgrounds to plan "milestone events", small plots or encounters centered around your PC specifically when she passes a "milestone" in leveling - taking the first level in a PrC, becoming epic, becoming an epic PrC, etc. These should be major points in a character's development and the DMs do what they can to make them memorable.
Hack/slash - That depends on how you want to play. If you want to go all the way to level 40 by camping a single spawn, go ahead. If you want to gain your levels strictly through RP and never pick up a weapon, go ahead. Silver Spire is designed to uphold a "play how you like" atmosphere. We do not punish powerlevelers, we do not ignore RPers. If you are enjoying yourself and not preventing anyone else from having fun, you are welcome here.
Treasure - Dependent on the efforts of the player. The milestone events are often concluded with a unique piece of custom gear developed specifically for your character. Also, there are NPCs located around the server that will alter the appearance of armor, shields, helms, and weapons so that you can completely customize your character's appearance. Found some +3 full plate, but you hate the gauntlets and want more spikes? Take it to the artisan and make it look however you like. Also, all the dyes in the game are available from another NPC, so your cleric of the Red Knight does not have to run around in bright purple armor anymore. (Unless he just likes purple.)
Experience rewards - High. DMs frequently give out rewards for good RP or taking on challenges. A custom xp script runs so that every creature will always give a minimum of 1d4 xp. No more having to seek out the most remote and dangerous creatures just to get xp at high levels - everything's worth something.
Player Requirements
Players must be 18 or older.

Description
Silver Spire is a splinter plane of the Forgotten Realms. It has the same gods but the lands and people are different. Once connected to the Forgotten Realms through many planar gates, Silver Spire is now cut off, a planar sink hole where the lost and forgotten end up. You can play a native of Spire or you can play a "Wayward", one of the people who've become stranded in Spire.

Still my favourite place to play when I get the time, and want to revisit old haunts.

I've recently returned to Spire after an absence of a couple of years. I've been amazed at some of the area changes that have gone in since I was a regular.
The world is superbly put together, and the players and team are friendly and welcoming. The standard or role-play is high and the combat is challenging. All in all a great server.

The Silver Spire is a great place to play. It's well-developed, but more importantly the staff are all friendly. I've never found a better atmosphere on an NWN PW.

A Solid PW with a good community, fun events and a good dm crew, well worth the visit.

Yarrr! This world is great, I have tried other PW's and rp servers but it's the people here that make this one the best. Don't get me wrong the world is full of things to do and the action is great even on your own but truly the role play here reminds me of sitting around the table with my friends including all the off the wall comments and joking around while they still keep in character. I've had a blast here for a few years now and I highly recommend it. _________________________ yarrrr

I don't have enough time to play on Silver Spire! Why do I have to work?!?!?
In all seriousness, this is a fantastically rich and varied persistent world, run by friendly DMs and populated by great players. I joined about eighteen months ago and I've felt welcome right from the start. I heartily recommend Silver Spire to anyone looking for a relaxed PnP feel to their gaming.

I've been on a few other servers, and this one has by far outperformed all of them in terms of roleplay and story. Lately, it's gotten to the point where, at least once a day, a DM runs a plot or participates in a way to make the experience more enjoyable. And, oh, the Roleplaying cookies! :D

I have been searching for a PW since my PnP days ended when I moved away, I have found it now and it is like playing PnP and online at the same time

As said before this really gives the feel of a PnP campaign. The D&D feel is captured well.

The labour of love that Spire has been for the development team is obvious just from walking around - simply beautiful! That character's actions have direct impacts on the world makes for a very immersive atmosphere.
But no matter how great a world has been constructed, it's nothing without a great group of players and a great team behind the scenes - and Silver Spire has both! This brings back memories of pen and paper gaming, where the primary focus of the players and DM was having a good time.
Newbies and experienced alike - come along and you're guaranteed a warm welcome!!

Silver Spire is one of the best servers out there... Great DM plots coupled with a fantastic world and tight-knit community, make this a PW that anyone can enjoy.

Spires is up there with the very best (and I've played on more than a couple).
The player base is small, but talented and friendly. The team are imaginative and very attentive to players' needs.
The world itself is truly amazing to see, what the team of builders have done with the NWN engine beggars belief.

I love the round-the-table feel that the players bring to this server. The people truly are what make up a pleasant gaming atmosphere, and Silver Spire has more than enough to go around.
The world itself is large and very detailed, it boasts a full set of custom races and classes, and above all else, the team there listens to the player base for ideas!
A PW set apart from all others, I would highly recommend filling out an application and giving it a shot.

A bit biased here but I love Spire. It feels like sitting around a game table with friends playing a game of D&D. We've been upgrading the server itself for a faster, more robust machine and just got an upgrade in our bandwidth to reduce/eliminate lag.

I think Garand states it eloquently when he describes Silver Spire has the feeling of a group of friends sitting around a table playing pen and paper D&D. The number of areas, the sheer creativity and thoroughness of those areas that have been built still boggles my mind, and the world isn't even finished growing yet. Our builders take the time to try and really immerse you into your surroundings, little things like flavour text when walking into the village of Blade Pass, without it, it's just another merchant outpost in the desert... with it, you can almost smell it.
We're a crazy bunch of people, but I wouldn't trade any one of them for anything.... well, maybe for that +10 Sword of Ultimate Power... maybe.
See you in game.

The city itself is beautiful and enormous! I love the alleyways especially. This is just like cities should be, actually populated with people.
The members here are incredibly friendly and helpful; I would recommend this PW to anyone looking for a welcoming community with easy-going RP and more than enough challenge.

I missed the days of sitting around a table with my friends and playing good old fashioned D&D. The night would be filled with both In-Character and Out-of-Character jokes, adventure would be had, and a general sense of comraderie and fun would be had by all.
Early on I played another PW on the vault that had that sort of feeling to it. As that world began to grow and the elements of a "group of friends" turned into elements of a "simulated society" I started to get more and more disillusioned there. The charm of playing D&D again with my friends scattered across the country was gone.
Soon I found out there were several like-minded individuals on that world and so we all got together and ran off and made our own. I have to admit, we took some ideas with us of what we should do, but we also took some ideas with us of what we shouldn't do. This is how Silver Spire was born.
I'm a DM there, and an Area Builder and self proclaimed Spin Doctor for In Character information (read: inconsistancies). We are, by far, not perfect. We aren't the largest world and we certainly have our share of problems (as every growing world does).
Though this persistant world isn't about the servers it runs on or the level of your character or the scope of a night's game. No ... its about the people. This isn't a community, this is a family.
Every night my busy schedule allows me to log in I know that when I show up it will be greeted by a Party Invitation and a rousing group shout-out of "YARR!" Several adventures will be going on simultaneously across and under the lands of Sadekat and all the while we chat about our lives and joke around in Party Chat.
This is JUST like sitting around a table with my friends again, tossing dice and shuffling papers, drinking Dr. Pepper and giving Steve a hard time for that last one he rolled.
Yes, I'm biased. However, if you come join us, you'll be biased too.
Hope to see you there.

I've been playing with the majority of this group for coming on three years now, so I too may be biased. Some of us played on other worlds together, some not. But one way or another, we ended up here. Spire started with a few maps of swamp, and a few good friends with an ideal: To create a respectful, play your way, roleplaying experience. Now, over a year later, our group has grown, the ideal holds true and there are enough maps that even I can still get lost. What we created is what we had been looking for elsewhere. It just might prove the same for you.
Posted by tenebros at 2005-05-09 22:05:31 Voted 10.00 on 05/09/05
I may be biased because I'm a DM and Area builder for this world but I do have to say that I've never found on a NWN PW the feeling like I used to get when sitting down around a table with friends to play D&D. Until Silver Spire came along, that is. Game world mechanics and stats aside, you'll never find a cooler group of friends who like to role-play together. We decided to post our world here because we'd like to expand our circle of friends. So if you miss the days of sitting around rolling dice and joking about with your buds, then this is the place to go.
Hope to see you there.
