Description
Ultiaris is a fairly new gameworld with a playerbase of veteran RPers as well as many new players. This PW regularly contacts staff from other gameworlds as well as samples content from the Vault on a regular basis, allowing us to update often to remain on the cutting edge of the NWN community. Our hak sets are the most extensive in existance, and provide a world to play in unlike any other available. Each hak has been custom-made for the world to enhance gameplay without bogging down the user's connection.
There is also a custom music set available from the website authorized and created by professional composers. DMs are frequently running quests, and largescale server events are scheduled roughly once every two weeks, though it's not uncommon to see three or four nights in a row of large events. Our scripters are also some of the best out there, and are constantly adding new and exciting scripted quests that differ greatly from the norm. Focused on the player, the staff is dedicated to working with all players to handle problems and enhance their playing experience.
Hey folks, I doubt anyone still checks this page. I use to play quite a bit on this server, and seeing as I haven't talked to anyone from here in ages and don't know how to get in contact with anyone (the old forums don't appear to work), I figured I'd post on here to see if anyone would get back to me. If your not sure as to what characters I've played, I played Rockus on Visions of Aerth and Bagrim on Ultiaris. Anyways, I just wanted to see if this community was still kicking around anywhere, and if so, I was wondering where abouts.

I've played on this server for almost a year now. Although I have some disagreements with how things are done, I understand that running a successful persistant world is hard. The Ultiaris staff does as best it can to give attention to everyone and include everyone in their events, and for the most part it helps create a very good atmosphere for the world.

To NWN Vault: The post made by "Rook" on the 14th of April, is not our Lead Admin, but someone who wishes to undermine our PW it seems. Ultiaris -is not- closing.

Was leery at first from the negatives posted, but once I was inside the door, I found that those guys merely had a rod up their arse. Excellent module, players, and staff, 10 outa 10.

Very impressed with the new players that have recently come here. Very good RP. Hope to see even more equally skilled players. =)

I find this World Great and i enjoy the Stories and the way all the dms listen and the way it keeps you interested _________________________ I've seen four gutted Hermaphidites burned to black pitch,
I've had a cop "my best friend" Driven insaneby the angels shrieking in his head.. before spontaniously combusting in a madhouse they call a monastary,
a pretty younge woman now dead knocked up by a stranger left 3 months pregnant in 48 hours,
and just yesterday a younge man elegidly her son shot six ways from sundown, crawled out of a droor and waltzed out like Lazarus,
so ya I'm open to a buffet of possibilities

Gabriel: In the end, there's still the word. Everywhere. In heaven with angels, the Earth and stars; even the darkest part of the human soul. It was there the word burned brightest, and for a moment... I was blinded.

If you'll kindly take notice, Wallflower, any and all comments invoving 'showing someone the door' were made after all options save that are exhausted. We make every effort to ensure a happy, cohesive environment where people can enjoy themselves. But if we feel someone is not a good fit, we will let them know and then do our best to suggest another place they might have more fun.
Never has anyone been simply cast aside. Every player gets attention when they have a problem, and I cannot recall one banning case that was not discussed for at least several weeks. Give us a little credit- we're very highly ranked and (unless I deceive myself) well-liked by the majority of our players.
I do apologize that the staff seems to have issues with players- this in fact can be pinned on one player in particular, but I will not go into depth here, as it would be rude to everyone involved. The rest of the players and the staff get along swimmingly about 95% of the time.
The ethos of the staff and Admin are of critical importance when they are chosen. I am particular in choosing goodnatured people who are patient, kind, love to laugh, and are not of the "DMs are better than players" attitude. I think there is no kinder or more hardworking staff anywhere, and it's them being put down that I take offense at.
Simply put, we will make every effort humanly possible to help people. When those options are exhausted, we will "show them the door" and try to help them find a place they will be more satisfied. And if they simply choose to cause damage to the mod and the morale of the playerbase, they will be removed for the good of the server.
We appreciate your comments, but I do not believe they ring true.
Afraid I cannot recommend this world. The staff are difficult to work with and there is constant in-fighting between the players and staff. Staff's attitude to players who complain is "let us show you the door."
There are much better worlds out there. Find one.

I like it here, i like the storylines. I like almost everything. Yes we have flaws, you don't like? GET THE HELL OUT AND DON'T B!TCH ABOUT IT!! Don't tell other people what they should do, let them explore at ultiaris themselves. Now that, that is over, I would like to say that the dms and admins kick ass and Foonerific can kiss my ass and as my momma always says and she's always right " Ain't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Now My momma has another that says "Don't start fight's, just finish them." So i'm finishing this, You don't like it here fine, we do so stop b!tching and move on.

Ive been to a lot of places. Ive been to PW Action servers like Neversummer and Lands of Arda. Ive been to HCR RP servers like City of Arabel, City of Waterdeep, and The Vast.
There are better places out there than this place, trust me. It seems like this place hasnt really found itself. It doesnt know whether it wants to be an action or an RP server. Maybe it will get better in time, but for now...

This world, like any other, is full of players who have opinions and sometimes they clash. But this is definitely one of the best there is. There is ALWAYS something to do, and people to do it with. Large server events happen frequently, and small role-playing events as well. It's immersive, and fun. Try it, you'll probably like it.

I agree with Ozymandous' comments completely. So what if he played here for a while? How does that somehow invalidate his opinion of the place? The answer is it doesnt. Dont just try to refute his valid concerns like that, because he has several good ones.
This place is too much like a videogame. Where the only concerns are what kind of 'stuff' you have. And the only real measure of power is who can kick who's ass in a fight. This place does seem more at home as a PW Action server instead of a PW Story or Roleplaying server. If that is what you are looking for then Ultiaris has plenty here to offer you.
However, truly serious roleplayers (Pen and Paper veterans) would probably be better off looking elsewhere.

Agreed completely with Ozymandous. If you treat this place like a videogame then that is exactly what you're going to get. A videogame, like Diablo2 or Everquest. Serious RPers should look elsewhere

"Server is passworded and one must join forums on website to submit a proposed character via PM to the forum administrator before access is allowed. This system plus the large number of hak downloads should effectively prevent anyone interested in casually checking out your pw from doing so. Well done!"
This is to keep people who aren't serious about RP off of the server. "Powergamers" Are turns away in mass numbers thanks to this.
"As far as shitting all over the RP i did there. Ill point you to the kudos thread again where ive received seeveral for the short time i stayed there."
sMurfnik has received countless kudos.
"We have elfling on the forums over there admitting she doesnt know how to roll the soft skills correctly."
Maybe you should look at the context in which she said that. She didn't know which skill to use WHEN.. Because we did not have a system with accurate counter rolls, that is what she was saying. Frankly, its still not an accurate system and people need to come to terms with eachother when rolling soft skills to decide DCs and decide which ones to roll.
"Now onto death penalties and resting restrictions. Different philosphies. You may think they suck, i and several other more hardcore PnP RPers like them in place for two reasons. They add challenge and realism. So you go on your little tirade sweety. Doesnt change my words on this place one bit."
Timed resting restrictions = Very very annoying and retarded. Area resting restrictions = A good idea.
I'm all for higher death penalties since one of the drawbacks i have seen on the server is the lack of consequences.
"And sure every server may have cases of meta and powergaming and favoritism. This place just has a worse case of it than some other places."
Sadly its one of the better places, as I've seen far worse.
"As for resting restrictions. Look at City of Arabel. Its 55/55 almost every single night, and they have HCR rules in place too."
They don't require applications, in fact, their only turn away for powergamers is their system of rest restrictions and death penalties.
Also, serious crafting will never be implemented thankfully, seeing as I really don't understand why people find it fun to sit around a forge all day and click the mouse.
"And for the record, your insular RP Karen is what got people talking about favoritism in the first place."
What did Karen ever do to you?
"To quote my bud Spawn. Yes we did kiss and make up. "You wanna cast stones at my RP? How about taking a hard look at yours first.""
That wasn't my exact quote... and no i didn't kiss you... but the quotes close enough.. and I believe it goes for everyone that wants to criticize other peoples rp... And I mean everyone, including thyself, myself, and themselves.
" Then there was an OOC kudos from Spawn"
I enjoyed your tale in Durgan square.. Fayth did too, especially the ending when the entire family dies.. yeah insane character usually get a kick out of that kind of thing :P.

Interesting. I am well aware that you were a part of many events yourself, so I ask why you said it only encompasses the same group of players all the time? Would also like to point out that for some reason, the good characters always think that good should win... They've become so used to winning, that when a "baddie" actually gets away with something, they freak out and say its unfair. I'll let you know that "baddies" have it the toughest on this server, evil characters will find it hard to find a niche where they can actually hatch evil plans, as it is tailored a lot towards good. I find your comment on this quite off Ozy. I also question why you make a post like this, since you played on the server yourself despite these complaints.. for several months.. So if you give this a 5, then really you should've quit after a week, not a few months.
