The Dm staff here is great,dm'd event's are ran all the time, just check the forums for details. After playing in another world for over 2 years i made the move here about 9 months ago and I have to say I love it. Come check it out :)

Arynwind is still up and running *shakes head at HQ*
HQ is the creater and former head of Arynwind. He handed it over to myself and the rest of the staff lock, stock and barrel back in April/May of this year. It is still running even though he is no longer invovled due to his own choice. The Arynwind server and it's team are still around, he is just not a part of it anymore.
The World of Arynwind is now closed and no longer supported by the Arynwind Team. I have passed some of the module to some players and former staff members to work on and play as a small community. I did not see it fit to simply abandon the massive amount of work put in by the former team, nor abandon the existing players that wish to still log into the gameworld.
That said, any server running under the name of Arynwind or subsidiary of the World of Arynwind is not supported by myself or the Arynwind Team.
I regret closing the project but feel that new projects are paramount at this point in time. Feel free to email me at [email protected] should you desire any recommendations for NWN servers.

This is one of the better worlds around that offers a wide variety of sub races and supports both cooperative and adversarial role-play styles. If you think you've done everything possible in NWN you might want to give Arynwind a try and be suprised for a change.

I've played on my fair share of worlds, and have even done quite a bit of DMing and building on a PW, and I gotta say that this is hands down THE BEST I've played on.. The areas are gorgeous, the plot is interesting, there are plenty of secrets as yet unfound - it's basically everything I had ever wanted to build and DM, expect I don't have to go thru the bother of doing it myself and can just play and enjoy it instead.. Definitely going to be staying a spell here..

I haven't seen the whole world yet, but if it's anything like what I have seen - not only in the player base, but the beautiful layout, the addition of some custom content (thank you!!!), and the level and frequency of DM interaction, then it all deserves a high vote. Much gratitude for the effort and work to create such a rich and detailed world.

Arywind is an amazing mod that has everything a player could want. The scenery is amazing. the staff is both helpful as are the players. The world is player driven.....yes your actions or lack there of have consequences. all in all this world is one that you just have to see

Well, let me start off by saying this:
My vote change here is just an expression that I belive now that beyond a doubt ( 100% positive on this ) that Arynwind PW is the best server there is.
Maybe you are always partial to the first PW you really become a part of.
Still, I've taken a short while and played on and reviewed several popular PWs out there. I did so not as a critic, but as a player looking for a new place to adventure and meet people.
I found that even the largest top rated PW has it's share of problems.
I thought I was looking for more quest, and PC to PC interaction. This was not the case it seems, for I got that, and let me tell you that going on a quest with 15 other PCs... well, it's not all that fun when you got to split the rewards up that much. Alighnement conflicts and some players being general butt-holes depreciated the experience for me.
Too many PWs have way to much HCR... I found myself looking for food and water to much on many of them.
I had griped about lack of players and quest on Arynwind before... I see now the differences in other PWs on these matters. It helped me to understand one thing...
I didn't have it so bad to begin with. I did have alot of fun right where I was at.
My complaints weren't justified, nor were they judgments based on experince... for I didn't have alot of PW knowledge.
In my opiion Arynwind is the best damn server and PW there is. It's balanced. It's fun. It's a PC developemental world that really does change around you... in character.
The DEVs are way more supportive... and better than that... they care about how thier players feel, and about thier creation. I can't say that about many other PWs.
I for one am ready to come home. Home to Arynwind.

This is a terrific world filled with the hardest working staff I have ever had the pleasure of working with in all my PW experience. I am incredibly humbled by their work ethic and general ethical behavior. Everything is up front and not 'hidden behind the scenes'. It's the only way to make a functional community and Arynwind does it well.
And...the world is extensive, beautiful and varied. The more players that join us, the better and more player-driven the world will become.

HQ...
Your right... I was having a really bad day, and everything just seemed so crappy last night. I was upset at someone else... not you personally, or at the fact you can't run quest.
Look I appologize publically for my actions and words... it was hasty anger, and frustration due to my RL job, Wife pestering me, and lack of serious sleep. ( I would've put this on the forums too if I hadn't been banned so soon... but oh well, the damage is done.
Bud, I really don't know what to say. I tried helping you out when you got here and immediately began rubbing people the wrong way on the forums. I thought we were getting along fine after that, I even let you have your shot as a quest DM just to let you try and impart the things onto the server that you'd raved about in great detail. You quit a week later as a DM after running no quests. The community said it'd miss you, the staff did as well, we all encouraged you to concentrate on real life... everyone was nice about it. I thought you were doing okay and then with no real conversation between you jump off a cliff and into this. I really don't know what to say to any of it. I truly am sorry I couldn't run any quests for the timezone you play in. I work 10 hour days bud and have a family to support. I can't tailor my quest schedule to your personal schedule. I'm sorry you felt excluded after everything I've done to try to make this a non-'staff adventuring company' server. There's really nothing else I can say. I gave you your chance, as a DM - a fairly hard position to get here that you cast away with little thought.
I understand people get angry sometimes, but you've definitely embarassed yourself here. I'm sorry we couldn't be what you wanted. Always remember that while I answer pm's, emails, and posts all day long - I have things outside of the player's lives to attend to. Take care bud.

I take back what I said... Arynwind sucks for new PCs! Unless your Epic Level, and they don't let you get there any time this decade... you won't enjoy it very long.
Good visuals, some good role-play if you catch a certain few others online. Overdone plot/empire schemes.
Arynwind boast that players have political control over the Empires... only and ONLY IF HQ DMs an event... and then probly you won't see any changes anyways. Bad DEV support in most areas there. If you complain more than once, you become a target or ignored fully... either way it's bad.
Don't expect to gain more than 1000 xp if you play 12 hours a day for 2 months straight. ( Will get lots more if HQ DMs an event, and you are lucky enough to go on one... but good luck with that... and HQ likes to throw unspeakable things at you... like tons of rust monsters ( and you really can't afford to loose any of the crap you get.)
I DMed there... didn't run any events. I looked around and thought how empty it was, even if it did look nice in most places. I quit DMing because as a DM, I like to have some control over what I do... The HQ had to many does and don'ts posted for me to enjoy that either.
I quit playing today because it just flat out sucks being 5th level for two months, and you need to be at least 10th to survive the crappy encounters when venturing into the wilds.
I reccomend finding a better PW. It's your choice though.

This realm is certainly visually appealing with beautifully created forests, cities etc. Audio wise the sound effects and music are used to good potential instilling a deep feeling of the chosen area.
That said I found this realm to be somewhat empty of any depth. After reading their website I was expecting some really in depth NPC's and plot lines to be seeable right from the first time there. What I found was a huge expansive realm filled with empty shells of npc's. There was no shortage of humanoid creatures filling the city streets but hardly any had anything to say. The lack of depth was to say the least a bit of a let down. I guess what I am saying is that although the realm is huge it feels empty. Also there are alot of items here that fail to serve their purpose. Lets take for example all the chains hanging down in the sewers that when pulled achieve nothing. Also alot of the scripts that seem to make things work within the realm seem half done. As an example we shall use the Badges for Jobs system. You can get employed to do a certain job for one of the councils. If you are employed by the Trade Council you get a Trade council badge which allows you to get paid a wage once a month. Now even though I am a member of the trade council I managed to get paid by all the councils? A simple script that blocks me from recieving payment for any other council would have been very simple to write. It says that it is on an honors system but as a roleplay mud it would have been nice to have seen coded the ability for other councils to abuse me and tell me to go away. The Realm of Arynwind all feels a bit like this, its as if they have gone, "Lets build a huge realm" but forgotten that you need to bring it to life in more ways than creating a nice webpage with a super story. People want to be sucked into your realm from the minute they step through the door from Reality to Fantasy.
All that said I think that this realm holds the potential to become one of the greatest NWN persistant worlds out there. They just need to stop and finish the parts they have started and bring those to life before trying to build on to it.
If you build it they will come,
If you bring it to life they will stay.
