0 - THE UNDERDARK is a hugely expansive persistent world with an intricate, slowly developing plot, plenty of hack-and-slash, and several puzzles thrown in for good measure.
The concept of the module is to emulate the best parts of MMORPGs and minimize the worst parts. Areas are large, complex, and detailed to the fullest extent of the Neverwinter Nights (Aurora) engine, however they are not so large as to make traveling a repetitive inconvenience. Like in most online roleplaying games, party play is emphasized in order to promote a social gaming experience. Neverwinter Nights and Dungeons & Dragons are, afterall, all about playing and having a good time with other people. To this end, quests are difficult and monsters often fight in balanced, well-organized groups very similar to ones formed by players. Overcoming them will absolutely require teaming up with other players, fortunately, unlike most other servers, parties don't split the experience earned but rather receive an experience bonus that increases in proportion to the size of your group.
Our rules philosophy is simple: don't do anything you wouldn't want the DMs to catch you doing. Use your common sense and things will go very smoothlya--after being active for 2 years we only ever had to discipline a player on one occasion.
As far as PvP goes, the server is in Party PvP mode. Evil characters are welcome and all players are free to attack one another outside of the confines of town. Of course, you can always TRY to assault someone in town, but I wouldn't recommend doing so within earshot of the guards. We simply ask that you have a reason for killing another player and only go after weaker individuals if they're really asking for it. Homicidal maniacs will be treated as such and may be maimed, killed, incarcerated, or any combination of the three.
Roleplaying is certainly welcome in 0 - THE UNDERDARK, however it is not enforced. We believe that all players should play the game as they see fit. The DMs do occasionally award experience bonuses for particularly outstanding displays of roleplaying, though.

Anyway, for those who are normal players and who just like to play, the server offers lots of dm events and adventure.
Both can be ran in english are in french, so french speaking players are welcome.

I have been playing in the underdark for about six months. This is a really fun place to play. It has a really friendly international community. I have met people from all over Europe and Canada. The server is fun to play too..I for one hate walking into a goblin or kolbold cave to find 10-15 enimies in whatever rooms there are. In the underdark first door you open in the gobbie cave has you facing close to 30 of the little meanies. Because this type of combat is server wide you need a party.
I will say is that Dan is really a great creator he takes suggestions from anyone and always listens if something doesn't work he will tell you why. The DM's are all really great as well.
There is a huge selection of items with many magical effects. Some even have some really nice effects on hit. Money isn't that hard to come by so that dream of the vorpal longsword is not so far fetched.

Its a little differnt than most I have played on and is well balance in my opinion considering you can have a +5 weapon and armor and still manage to get you butt handed to you in some areas.

Very Well Balanced game. The layout is great. A lot of work went into detailing the city, shops, dungeons and areas.

The best action servers I have ever seen. The developer put plenty of thought into each area. The exp is not 100% but it is more than made up for through quests, monster/area design and community

By the way, where'd you get your Blackjack scripts? That's one of the best implementations of Blackjack that I've seen. I've searched the Vault for it but haven't seen the one you used. Is it custom written for your module?

I just wanted to make it known that The Underdark is a wonderful place to play. The XP payoff is low, and this is an issue Dan (the server admin) has addressed constantly. He doesn't want a server where everyone can reach level 20/40 overnight. He wants a server where the journey is the reward.
He has created such a server.

To anyone looking for a very good PW server, Underdark definitely is the right choice.
Lots of action, good players with a real sense of humour and willing to play (not argue, except for one very interesting specimen), good dms, and not to forget the exceptionnal Grand Master of Funk who does an amazing job debugging, scripting and keeping the Underdark world alive.
One last word (doesn't make a difference, but god that will be good) : Astalavista Caldur :)
