Areas - 6.00
Big. The place is really, really big. As in you can pretty much pick a direction and go for hours big. Dungeons are plentiful, deep, and well-varied. Distinct lack of 'puzzle'-type dungeons. Outdoor areas are large and many are wellbuilt, but you can see the 'rough edges' on a number of areas- doors missing, no placeables, etc (Probably a limitation of module size). Additionally, while there are indeed many areas to look at, there are no areas that really take your breath away. While some may disagree with that, I found nothing that inspired great awe.
Scripting - 9.00:
Solid and welldesigned script system in place. Custom loot, professions, crafting, good clothing/dye options make for a lot of interesting choices. Could use a little more in the monster behavior department, but other than that scripting is very solid.
Community - 5.00:
Aertheca has a very large community and it's common to see double digits logged in. Players are generally interactive. Community overall feels very 'soft' and does not handle/play evil very well. Corny names abound. Don't come in expecting to powerbuild and find competition or a warm welcome. If you're into RP alone and not fighting you'll love it here.
Staff - 8.00:
It's not uncommon to see multiple DMs on, and if someone is really a good RPer a DM will find you. DMs tend to gravitate towards the more eclectic PCs or the ones they are friends with on their PCs, but they do a fair job of spreading their attentions around. Some ego problems exist, but overall the DM team seems responsive and not overbearing or irresponsible with their power. Staff in general are courteous, though tend to be slow to respond to questions or requests.
RP - 5.00:
While I'm sure the 'natives' would give this world a 10 on RP, I find it somewhat bland. The only real excitement comes from DM events. Many players have horribly stilted, cliche, or unrealistic attitudes or are generally unaccepting of those that fall outside of the 'norm'. DM events feel sadly scripted on many occasions, though some impromptu ones felt open-ended. There is potential to 'stir the pot' as it were, but expect resistance.
Haks - 8.00:
CEP. Not perfect by any means, but it's something everyone has.
Overall Score - 6.83 (6.75):
Seems to be a good place to kick back and waste a few hours, and I would genuinely recommend that people who just want to pretend to have a social life should play here. If you're looking for actual player conflict, you're not going to find much of it. There's room for improvement on several fronts, but it's mostly issues with the community rather than the staff that lower the score. Worth a look at the very least.

At this moment the release of NWN 1.69 is about a month and a half ago.
Unfortunately, to-date there has been no official announcement on its forums as to whether or not the server will be updated and if so in what time-frame.
This is doubly unfortunate as Aertheca could use this opportunity to replace its custom horses (which crash people's clients with grim regularity) with CEP 2.1 horses that don't crash.
Having said this, I must admit that it's probably going to take a substantial amount of work to update Aertheca because of the amount of custom scripting (and tinkering with .2da files as the administrator hinted at) that has been used. For this reason it's probably hard to estimate how much time it will take. An official announcement with intentions however would still be useful.
Until then Aertheca afficionados will either have to switch back and forth between NWN versions 1.68 and 1.69, or choose remain at 1.68 until an update happens.

Pros
Unique Crafting System
Over All Unique World
Some Well Built Areas
Large Module With Many Areas to Explore
Level At Your Own Pace
Fair Amount of Role-Play
Reincarnation System
Several Quality Class and Spell Modifications
Cons
Many Broken Quests/Broken Scripts
Very Little DM Interaction
Admins/Staff Lack Direction and Motivation
Many Unfinished Areas
Lack Of Guild Support
Cliquish Player Base
House System
Some Modified Classes and Spells Lack Balance
I played on the server for almost two years and I have to agree with the last post that well over a year ago this server had a well deserved 9-10 rating, but today I would say it should probably be half that at best.
I would like to explain some of my pros and cons in a little more detail.
Firstly the server is huge and you could probably spend several months running around exploring every inch of the module and still not see it all. I know that even after almost two years there were still a few spots I had never visited. The problem with this though is that probably half the areas arent worth visiting since they are either empty or poorly built. There tends to be a lot of filler areas with just nothing going on. There are a few areas though where youll be surprised and probably take a few screen shots.
There are many class and spell changes on this server. Some are very very good and others make you scratch your head wondering what exactly the staff was thinking. Over all some of the classes were made very useful and others were tweaked to the point of being over powering for a supposed role-playing server and the changes made some of the other core and prestige classes rather useless to play.
The staff (admins/dms) for the most part have become apathetic when it comes to the over all upkeep of the server and in over all communication with the player base and with each other at times. For a long while there were days where you wouldnt see any DMs at all and never any dm run events although in their defense they have been attempting to remedy that over the last couple days though this major problem has been going on for a very long time and really is a testament to the snails pace they move at if they move at all on a problem or issue. Module upkeep and repair seems to be at a dead halt and has been for a long time. Even before this though it takes them longer then any other server staff I have seen to get anything done when it comes to the module or to updating their forums with information. You will see script errors popping up now and then, many broken quests, and many empty areas due to this. Again I have to agree with the before post that the staff needs a shake up and dedicated work done to the mod.
Over all this would be my opinion and my experience from playing on Aertheca. I would give this server a 5 or so rating score though a year or so ago it deserved the 9 or 10 and Im hoping for the servers sake since it was a pretty darn good server that the quality is brought back to that level again in the future.

Broken quests, blah building mixed with some quality work, scripts that don't work, menu items left unfinished, missing crafting materials.. all that could be overlooked if the staff seemed to actually care. There is little to no communication between the staff and the player base. Attempts are met with silence or sneers. The DM staff is spotty at best. Most days not a single DM will sign in. On the rare occasion that a DM quest can be found, they are interesting and well done.
This world could be great, but only with a complete shake up of the staff and dedicated work on the mod itself.
Note: Most of the "10"s given were give more than a year ago, when this world was worth a 10, sadly.

Pretty good. I would say an excellent fall-back server. As previously mentioned a number of quests are broken and some maps have illogical transitions or are bugged.
The greatest disappointment is the usual one - the DMs have bloated egos. Recently they have started retro-active rules. One case is a player (since left) who has a char for a long time but a recent ruling was that that skin race was unacceptable - poof!! Months of investment up in flames. Recently, whithout any logic being supplied, some build are "viewed" (note!) to be cheese builds. If you play a combo Palemaster and a DM judges that your "story" is fragile, you lose the PM levels at their whim. The NWNauditor views this to be unfair and autocratic - ego driven.

This is a large and interesting world displays a high level of RP, unfortunately marred by failing maintenance and a cavalier attitude to module changes.
Many quests are bugged and do not work, use of CEP horses is bugged (crashes the NWN client 50% of the time), Olander's class-specific menus have been incorporated but don't work properly, loose transitions are rife and are not being addressed, several crafting ingredients are not in-game and are not being addressed.
One definitely gets the impression the current administrators have inherited a module that is too complex for them.
Add to this the consistent claims on part of the administrators and DMs that they are "overloaded" coupled to a dogged refusal on part of the administrators to either accept help when it is offered, or even to speak publicly about maintenance / development (e.g. what is being done, how long it is expected to take, what has priority, and what maintenance is being deferred).
Nonetheless an interesting world, suited to RP, provided you don't have too high expectations on how well the module scripts work. Of late more rigorous enforcement of rules that are a bit taste-dependent (e.g. it has recently been forbidden to sneak past monsters to get at their loot chests)

Large server, many areas, huge playerbase.
All of this has pros and cons: lag might be bigger, the quantity of broken quests and unfinished areas might be larger, and with many players come a few idiots.
Nevertheless it also means to be able to explore a lot and find countless good roleplayers.
What Aertheca makes unique is the try to balance classes by giving pure class bonuses or improvements to certain classes (e.g.: barbarian's rages are better; bard's song isn't capped at level 30; druids get new shapes at level 36+; and so on) and weakening casters and some known powerbuilds.
Another great feature is the crafting system, which is quite complex.
Everyone is welcome, though people who only look for hack'n'slash or powergaming will get bored by and by and won't get much (IC-)attention by the DMs unless they rp, too.
I just like the server.
Sure, it has its flaws, but who wants to be in a perfect world? It would get boring soon enough :D

A very large server, with a generally high level of RP and a peculiar crafting system based on scarce recipies for items. Interesting and entertaining.
On the downside, the server seems too large for the maintenainers to manage nowadays, which results in numerous broken quests and dangling transitions which are never fixed. Maintenance activity is opaque, and what reports maintainers release are vague to the point of being completely useless.
The world purports to be separate from Faerun, but admins / builders can't seem to be bothered to be clear about what forum information on the world is or is not official despite repeated requests.
Offers of help (e.g. for website maintenance} seem to be viewed with suspicion and apathy amidst claims of DMs having not enough time to spend and too much work to do.
Individual DMs are open to player input in plotlines, but rarely seem to coordinate plotlines amongst themselves.

I won't waste time in a "rah-rah-rah" speech, Anyone that knows me, in one fashion or another knows I don't talk unless I have something to say: Aertheca is an overlooked gem. From the standpoint of someone who's spent more time designing and building server's than playing on them. These people know what's going on. "Lovely areas, great scripting, awesome DM's" and the typical "blah blah blah" What really catches me is they made balance adjustments.
This was done -after- all considerations were taken into account. That alone puts Aertheca in what's about 5% of the amount of NWNservers online. In addition to that, they've integrated some of the most well known, and best systems created with the Aurora Toolset.
Now.. where can I bash them? Surprisingly few places. Its a bit of a hassle to get online, which after 5 minutes your realize was intentional and similar in design to an intelligence test. And I've had some encounters with other players that haven't been pleasant.
Damned short list by my standards. To summarize: these people knew what they wanted to happen before they started, and they made it happen with a level of refinement and intracity that most server's are notably lacking. _________________________ Itinerant Admin: RPGModding.com - Where Modders Muster.

Aertheca is one of the best servers I personally have experienced. It is a huge, well-architected world, with elegant enhancements in the custom content and game balance arenas. The DMs are active and talented, the scripting is sophisticated and lends vastly to the overall enjoyment of the game, the history and development of the world is stunningly detailed, and the players can lead or not - as they wish. Overall, Aertheca is a glorious PW for NWN. Highly recommended.

It's an awsome server. But it also an awsome server has pro's and con's:
+ huge world
+ many quest
+ great community
+ good DMs
+ new ideas
+ complete own setting
+ fast server
+ many players
+ perfect crafting system
+ very fair class changes
+ rideable horses
- some quest are broken or bugged
- some areas are unfinished and empty
- the horses create lags for some (older) computers
- some areas seem to be a bit unbalanced

The screenshots and description are beautiful, and I'm very excited to play, but when I try to it says I have about six haks missing. I have already downloaded and installed all of the files on the downloads page, and I just updated my versions of NWN and the CEP. Is there something I'm missing here?
