This is an Action & Roleplay Server! Action thicker and heavier than anything out there.....PERIOD! Roleplay is requested and rewarded for those who do.
Think of Guild Wars, Dungeons and Dragons, Risk, and Roleplay Party adventure all wrapped up in one ....that is what this is all about.
Set in the year 2939 Third Age Middle Earth is in a state of slight lull. The Evil Hordes of Sauron mass in Dol Guldur and the Free Folk do what they can against the overwhelming numbers against them.
Players will play as Good or Evil in this classic conflict game in a very large High Quality Middle Earth setting.
Lots of Quests including the ever expanding and Dynamic Epic Level Quests that you will NEVER be too Uber to do alone!
The power is lead through the holding of guilds and the allegiance with other guilds. The Kings and Queens will also make plays through the player controlled guilds for deeds needing done. Players will plot with and against each other to satisfy their own needs and the world changes based on those decisions (The world is constantly changing).
Will you become a Lord or get thrown into the sewer with the rats? You decide!

I played on this server for a few months and found that it seems to mistake "making things difficult and time-consuming for players" for "providing a good RP setting".
Now of course making things difficult tends to weed out the hack-and-slashers, but I feel that the server takes the tedium factor to extremes.
One might also note that the server is set up to be unpleasant for soloists. To a certain extent this is consonant with promoting RP, but again I felt it being taken too far.
The level of RP itself wasn't all that high.
Besides which, having all races start their career in Bree (elves, dwarves, men, halflings, and other races) doesn't really help. I know that that's the way almost every LOTR server does it, but for a server which wishes to see itself as a specialised RP server it's a weakness.
The landscaping is interesting, especially the use of the new tileset that allows for "rugged" landscapes. Unfortunately use of this tileset in Bree makes for an ugly brown-coloured village which from time to time takes an inordinate amount of time to load a new viewpoint because of the detail in the tiles.
All in all 7 out of 10.

A great and wonderful world! Olander out did him self and everyone here is keeping it going strong. I have been wiht LOME for six months now, the (DM) team here is hard working on many many new ideas and functions. The world is very detailed and large considering the scale of ME. We have done numerous changes and huge updates lately, including putting Harad in and balancing the whole world for all levels. The Epic scale is huge and many vast new features (like player run merchants) are being implemented so you can make use of all your skills and earn more than a minimun amount of gold; the crafting system is great and being balanced out too. Come join us in LOME, it's ver much worth the time.

Just when I thought everyone has switched to NWN2, I chanced upon this excellent PW. Great DM involvement, player interaction, realism, meticulously crafted Middle Earth setting etc just to name a few of LoME's many positives. I've played for only a week and I'm absolutely hooked!

Shame about the death system .. other than that good RP server.
Thanks for the advice. I managed to get onto the server. I have another potentially stupid question. Do all new players have to create a new character and start at level 1, or is it possible to use your character from, for example, the main NWN campaign? Thanks, Jakob.

You have to get CEPv2 and install it first. I would use the Self Installing one. Then simply log on to Gamespy through Multiplayer and click on the Roleplay section once you are signed up on Gamespy.
Look for => Lords of Middle Earth
Join in there. See you there!
Kintama....Yes the weapons are as real looking. Some are not of course....BUT....you can change them to how you wish IN GAME. Ask how to do this when in game.
I have a stupid question. I've just bought NWN. How do I get onto this server? I've gone to Link but I can't see any explanation of how to start playing. Can anyone help me with this?

So, Olander is still rocking the NWN world! You did an awesome job with Anvarath, and I'm sure you kicked this one as well!
I'll check in on the server if I reinstall nwn1 at some point!
Well i haave been playing here a couple of weeks, or close enough, and while i will not vote until i've been here a bit longer i can say i have found it a truly fun PW, the advancement rate seems good, and the guild system is simply awesome.

Olander has done, in a word, a brilliant job. The realistic system, with the criticals (kill shots and head lopping off.. everything), HTF system, camping. The details of each and every area is beautifully created. The guilds, cities, quests, riddles upon riddles upon.. well.. riddles, are just BRILLIANT. Everything seems thought out, and managed. Being able to change appearance, have pack animals, get troops to help you, siege equipment and MORE. Look at this module, it is excellent, and you wont regret it.
