Although I do love the hellish-looking places, I gotta admit this one looks a little too much like a reskin and a cross between rural and cave tilesets for my taste. Not a lot of new stuff except the towers and lava falls, and similar results could be achieved with a cave and tilemagic lava. Although: I love the brimstone-looking rock on the raised areas and the blood rain and the general mood of the tileset. Reminds me of Doom (oh that game is just a classic). Use WinRAR to open the file. I tried WinZIP and Xace and they didn't work, but WinRAR worked just fine.

I am unable to extract the hak packs from this site. I get the mod but for some reason the hakpacks are not available. does anyone have an idea what I should do?

I can't get this tileset to work at all. The Mod won't run and on adding it to a new blank mod I can't select it from the menu in 'create new area'. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!!! This tileset was just what I was looking for...
I tested this hak with other tileset haks in a multiplayer test in my PW. I just have no problems to enter the tileset myself (as DM or in single player), but when more players get in they crash and will even directly crash by trying to log on new... till i restart the module (and they will not appear in the Abyss)
Many thx for any suggestions and of course the many hours you spend on creating this cool tileset !

I uncompressed both files, and put them in their respective folders. I even played the demo! but for some reason the tileset doesn't show up when I add the hak to my list of custom resources for a mod I'm working on. Can anyone help?

First you have to use WinRAR to extract the module and/or hak. Then you can place them in the approriate folders.

That "Abyss" thing doesn't show up when I want to create a new area in the Toolset. Shall I place the file in a special folder or something? Help!

Thanks for the info Bamf. Mandor provided similar info on another tileset I was having problems with. He wrote:
"Bad Karma, this tileset probably uses dds textures only (I'm having the same problem with other tilesets). Too bad not all graphic cards can display them."
Looks like I'll either have to learn how to change textures or go find a video card that will work on my motherboard.

I think if your tile set is showing up with batches of white every where, this symptom is indicating that the author did not include low res tga versions of his reskinning efforts. Many people, who have a video card capable of visualizing the high res textures, do not bother with the low res versions.

Rar is saying that the file is corrupt. Is anyone else having problems unpacking this? I've downloaded it several times with the same result. It doesn't appear that anyone else is having problems...

This is beautiful, and I am about to use it in my module. I wonder if it would be difficult for you to convert Waterfalls from Lucifer Church so one could have wide falls of lava? I did follow his instructions on how to move Waterfalls to another tileset, and I edited the tga files in the hak, but it turns out I was only editing the mini-map images. I ended up with perfect wide falls of water between lakes of lava. 8^O It would be ever so nice if you could incorporate that feature into a future release. Wide lakes of lava cascading over broad, black cliffs . . . mmmmm. :):):)

All,
I'm in the process of adjusting the files so that you can
have towers both here and in Velmar's rural and that they
look normal in both. I will be posting a hak in the
upcoming week or two that will have the Abyss, Velmar's
Rural w/ Towers & Hills & Hobbits, Velmar's Underground
City and Velmar's Rural City w/ Janus's City Rural wall.
There is A LOT of manipulation to getting all these bad
boys playing nice together.

Elesias,
One comment for one MINOR part that could be changed. When
you copied Vel's towers, I think there is an unfortunate
side effect in that the ground of the towers (in the Rural
area) has your Abyss floor. If you recopy Vel's towers then
you get grass in your areas. Is there any way you (or you
working with Vel) can get around this. I've tried but since
I not quite as skilled as you two.
What I did is copied Vel's towers and renamed them,
modified the set file to use the renamed towers and
adjusted the itp file as well. However since the model
points to the texture, I guess I'm stuck. I'd love to use
the towers in both tilesets.
On a side note, thank you for not only your work but
sharing your time and talent with the community. Much
obliged.

@Demigog : In my tileset, I kept the same filenames for
Velmar's Tower hak. I guess it could be fixed this way :
- Rename vwt01*.* files from one hak.
- Use the new filenames in the given .set and .itp
I think you could use the Tileset duplicator to fix the
filenames and .set problem easily.

Elesias as ive said before great work.
One question i have for you is , when i combined the Abyss
Hak , into my personal hakpak , i already had Velmars Rural
Tower Hak. The result was Velmars tower w/grass in hell =p
from his rural hak , and not the one you retextured.
