First backup all of you override directory into a zip, then unzip itemvalues.2da into the override directory and its done. What does it do? Bassicly it caps the game ILR so that item never became higher then lv 20. This will only work if you play on single player or host a multiplayer server and multiplayer clients do not benift from this change. I don't know if it is needed to be in a hakpak in other for the clients to work with the new ILR, so if anyone could give me some feedback I would apreciate it. Thanks to BioMod Torias for the help. --Niantis
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 1 that made this score of 10.

Thanks for the cap.
I usually just set my nwnplayer config's "Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=0"
As someone that grew up with D&D and AD&D 2.0 I think it's silly that you have to be 9th level to swing a sword that can be held and swung or 13th Level to draw on a enchanted bow which is still basically a bow.
Takes away the fun of accidentally discovering you weapons are magical as well when you swing the sword and it discharges fire or your bow tends to "hit the mark" more often than you do with other bows ;) (as in you can use the Item but you can't identify it's properties or invoke spells and greater powers without knowing the command word/trigger, and there is no "Unidentifiable/unusable Items" but to know if there is magical loot a "Detect Magic" must be cast then it becomes a "unidentified magical " but still a usable item until "Identify" is used to clear up what the powers are for the item)
2nd addition magic/identify/use was more straight foward, 3rd Eddition made Mountains of Molehills with some of the new rules. ;(

Sure, just put in in your override directory and that is all you have to do. Your player don't hate to dl anything and its SoU compatible.

two ?'s
Does this work in SoU?
And, I host a server. Can I just drop this file in the server's override? And my players will not have to load it or install anything? I could not understand the explanation above. Sorry

Any of you ever played NeverSummer3 PW? That's exactly what they do. They take out the ILR and it works awesome. They boosted all the baddies and summons and stuff so it's all harder and you get more variety in your items and stuff.. the mod was done beautifully. I love it, don't play anthing but it.. although the lag is gettin bad now. Go play it.. you'll love it. The giving good stuff to newbs does happen and makes for quick leveling up to like level 8 but it doesn't matter that much since alot of the baddies require parties of like 5 lvl 20's to beat.. so it's all good in the end.. amazing server to play on.

Never had that problem... weird. O_o

WOW! Thanks :D
BTW, one thing....when you add spells it seems to put the level cap back on. anyone else have this prob??
Posted by Niantis ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-04 11:15:00
@compugner
Just unzip the file into your override folder.
@tuyen
Its easier to turn of ILR for that matter, but yes you can modify the file to that all items are level 1, just add an enormous values to level 1 entry.

ok, im not a pro hacker, so were exaculy do you extract the mod?
Posted by tuyen ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-19 06:50:00
Can I modify this file to set the max level to 1 ??
So everybody could use any items... I think it will give more flexibility to the game if it's well used...

Negative. This only works from server side. I order to use it you need to run a server ou play in a server that has this file. This is in no way a hacking tool.

Hey, can I join a game and use this file?
Posted by Niantis ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-11 01:23:00
Sorry about the late reply Ham.
Just open the file itemvalues.2da in your note pad, go to
the level 20 collum. You should she some huge number in all
levels after 20, so just make the bigger :) add a few more
0 to the 2 and 3 collum for all lines bellow level 20
included.
Once again sorry for the late reply.

This is just what i was looking for. but i have 1 weapon
and suit of armor wich, even with this is restricted to 23
or 24. Dose this mean they are just too powerful? what do i
do about it?
Posted by Shadowwalker ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-31 02:16:00
Ok I see your point, I guess if I was going to run a PW I
would want this too.
Posted by Purple_Red ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-30 06:31:00
I make my words yours Niantis I agree totaly with you : )
the server to be good has to have some balance including
the player advancement.
A big hug to you R
Posted by Niantis ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-30 01:11:00
I whant a balanced server. Not one where my lv20 char gets
very powerfull items and then is friend starts playing with
a lv1 char... and he gives all those items to him... not
very funny for PW admin. One of the most fun part is that
that you have to win your items, your fame, your gold, that
is what ADD or DD is all about and it feels good for a
player to earn that power when the right time comes.
I play MUDs for 6 years now so I know what i'm talking
about for all MUDs have ILR and the player love it.

Now if the DM is foolish enough to leave a Greater Slasher
lying around where a lowly 1st level character can find it
then yes, That 1st lever character should be able to use
it. I never did like the viewpoint that the item in
question querys the aura of the user and if it isn't
powerful enough. it goes "Uh-Uh ya can't use me!" never
did seem right.
Some people just have the luck of the foolish and it pays
off at times.
Posted by Niantis ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 16:56:00
Yes i know i can turn off ILR, but would you whant a lv 1
char to be walking around with a Greater Slasher (+4,+2d6
slashing dmg, +1d6 piercing dmg)?
That way I can make powerfull item for lv 20 without having
the risk of a lowbie using them.
Posted by Shadowwalker ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 16:47:00
So, this basically makes any level 21+ items you create in
the toolset be level 20? Did you know that you can turn off
the item level restricions entirely?
Posted by Niantis ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 13:07:00
I've tried it on multiplayer last night and it worked fine
with save games and everything else. What was the last one
you dl'ed?
Posted by kefrem the magus ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 12:58:00
question...the last one of these i downloaded worked..but
when i tried to save my game...it crashed it every
time...and really messed my game up i had to do total
reinstall....whats its stability?
