LOK Mystic Skeletons Copyright 2003 Dennis S. Dollins www.landsofkray.com Description: Five skeletons with various colored flaming hands and heads and hearts. In a bit of synchronicity I happened to run across the reference to a new monster called Burning Skeletons in the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil sourcebook. Not a few hours later I ran across them again in a very obscure google search for something completely unrelated. Figuring it was a sign from the gods that I should have them in a module I whipped a prototype burning skeleton out in short order. (Very short about 15 minutes). I liked the look so much I decided to make some simple variants which are reminiscent of some monster I've fought in some other RPG where the skeletons had glowing hands. Hence there are now flaming, green, yellow, purple flaming skeletons along with a red glowing eye version.
While I was at it I thought it would be cool if you could take the flaming skeletons head and make a lantern out of it so theres a new torch model as well in the hak. Use and abuse them as you will as long as credit remains in their usage and they're not sold in any way or fashion for any kind of recompense.
These are cool! _________________________ World of Aenea (Hall of Fame PW and the origin of all my works)

Sweet!
Bug: The yellow skeleton doesn't correctly hold weapons in his hand. All other variants do.
Request: A burning variant with more flames (engulfed basically in flames) and one with only the hands flaming (for Baneguard skeletons).

It could be done and i considered it but the framerate hit with that many particles flying around on one creature would make it hard to use very many.
And the description of the burning skeletons does say its concentrated in their head and hands. :) I just took it to the extreme in that regard.

Great work, but when I envision burning skeletons, I see the whole skeleton burning, not just the hands and head.
Would that be possible for you to do?

There are actually 5 portraits for each creature in NWN. They're _h,_l,_m,_s,_t for Huge, large, medium, small, tiny.
The various sizes are used in various locations but the _h one is pretty much unused. as the _h takes up more space than all the others combine its a good idea to delete it and same a huge amount of space in your haks. Deleting the _h portraits from a portrait hak will reduce the size by 75% give or take. The _h for players is _only_ used in the character creation screen so for many people its a no-brainer to delete all the _h versions from their haks and save a ton of space.
But I left them in so that the people who do want it or those who don't care about hak size can have them.

Pardon my ignorance, but I removed the _h files as the readme suggested was possible and yet I still get the portraits as selectable when I create the new creature.
What is the _h file for?
