Title  LOK Tileset Addon #5
Author  Danmar
Submitted / Updated  05-22-2003 / 05-23-2003
Category  Tilesets
Expansions  NWN - 1.29 or lower
Description
[Updated to add missing textures 05/23/2003] The LOK Tileset Addon #5 - Public Version aka The DM's Staging Area by Danmar - www.landsofkray.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ All rights reserved (C) Copyright 2003 Dennis S. Dollins ------------------------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer!!!! This hak is released As Is. I doubt I'll make any additions or fixes to it as it serves my purpose at the moment. YMMV ------------------------------------------------------------------ This is one of the tilesets I made for my private campaign and I'm releasing it to the public due to popular demand. Its what I'd call a microset as it includes only a few basic features. I use it as the staging/entry area for my campaign modules. Its modern in appearance and includes a few themed placeable items as well to help separate the OOC and IC areas of the module.

For the hell of it I made simple Stargate'ish tile as a portal into the area. The original was more lighting filled and plasma'ie but the NWN engine changed around 1.28 or so and p2p emitters on placeables or tiles causes the client to crash. (Although as usual they work just fine in the toolset.) These placeables include: Dungeonmasters Guide Dungoenmasters Screen Monster Manuals Halogen lamp Modern cabinet - two versions a calendar perpetually stuck on april A couple of 'girlie' posters (non-nude) A big gaming table Modern wood chair for players Two versions of a overstuffed recliner, one for DM's one for Guides. These two are scripted in my modules to only allow DM's to sit in them, a regular player trying it is warned and if he keeps trying the third time he's hit with electric shock therapy and reduced to one hit point. (of course he doesn't stay at one hit point its a humour thing folks)

The colors/textures are complimentary in my opinion and I was going for a bit of swedish light and bright feel to the scheme. There 'is' a placeables.2da file in the hak for instant use but as I'm fairly sure no one is going to be using this alone there is a text fragment with the lines you'll need to add to your 2da file. Just remember to remove the placeables.2da in the hak or make this hak a lower priority in your content list. If you like it, then use it. If you put it in a X in 1 hak please try and remember to give me credit or I'll cry for a good 3 seconds after finding out about it. If you try and sell it and I don't get a cut I'll sic the corporate weasels on you.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 7 that made this score of 8.43.

Craxking idea mate, I'll be using this as an ooc area, I mean it just fits :) I hate starting a mod and getting my Info in the same environment over and over, ie a chasm all around with lots of Visual effects everywhere and a guy n the most over the top armour ever going 'Ahoy'

Tom/Gorsh

Put your sittable script on an invisible object. Make it useable, no inventory. (Plot- or players WILL smash it)
Place your chair, make it static.
Place your invisible object directly over the chair
where you want the creature to sit, rotate arrow to face the way you want sitter to face.
Adjust the invisible object to be on the ground, not floating. Save and test.

A great tileset. One issue we have is that anyone sitting in any of the three custom chair models always sits to the East no matter how the chair is oriented.

I tested this again today by taking four normal sitting chairs and pointing them in the NSWE directions. They worked just fine. Then I copied these exact same four chairs and replaced just their appearance with the [LOK] chair models and the user always sits to the East.

It looks terribly out of place. Am I the only one with this issue? Is there a fix for this that I am not understanding?

Hrmm, can't seem to find the texture for the portal. I just d/l'ed it and put up the portal but it's the 'I-don't-have-the-right-texture" colour. What am I missing?

Posted by Zodwallop ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-23 10:11:00
Thanks much Danmar! Re-downloaded it, re-made the area with some scripts for it to work... I think for even an un-DM'd module I might use it to dispense some very basic character generation meta-game info. Or, as an area to send the player to different openings based on race/alignment/class.

Sorry about the missing textures on the portal. I normally keep my textures separate from the models in their own texture hak. Makes it easier to develop other content that way.

The hak's been updated with the missing textures.

Have fun.

ya i had the same white portal thing...whats up with it?

Posted by elandys ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-22 14:30:00
I love it. For a minute I thought you'd made a complete d20 modern set; can't wait to download it and see how many rooms, placeables, you have. Love what's there, though.

Stargate? With the liquid effect? Yum!

Truely Awesome!

I know you mentioned no fixes or additions... but I tried to use it and couldn't get it to work. The tileset looks ok, but the portal has no texture (all white). I also couldn't find any placeables. Probably all me doing something wrong :o)

I didn't try to add this to an existing module, but use it on its own. Help?
