'One for all, all for one' A pretentious little hat ;) I thought is was pretty cute. I've been working on feathers and other little components for some bigger works and this I thought was nice enough that some others might want to try it for their Musketeers.
This is my first hat that turned out OK (it still has a couple issues but fewer than any hat I've seen) It works on quite a few heads (that varies by race and sex and seems to work best on the 'new' heads from HotU) but DO NOT EXPECT IT TO LOOK GOOD ON ALL HEADS!!!!! Some just have too much going on with their hairdos and built on hats. Some have too much danglymesh jiggle and will look ok in toolset but not in game, so you will have to try it out on a few heads. It helps for some heads to make the hair the same color as the hat.
It is actually a robe, so you cannot wear the hat and another robe at the same time. It covers no body parts and can be taken off like any other robe. I did not make the fat pheno, they wear the thin pheno hats and they fit fewer but some still fit __________I also thought this might give other people ideas for using robes for things other than actual robes :) ___________ Use alone or as an addon to CLOTHES HORSE HotU Padded

These look very nice, and I adapted them for use in my PW. _________________________ World of Aenea (Hall of Fame PW and the origin of all my works)

These are perfect for pirates =) I'll be using them in a little mod I'm making. Could have been a few more models though, anyway, great work! _________________________ "Where do you run, when the earth becomes your enemy?"

I'm actually trying to do something like this for a pw. The fact that the hat is attached to a specific robe actually works for me, but I need to make a sort of black robe/pointed hat... thing.(you know like a witch) I'd also thought of doing it sort of attached to the neck (like a cape?) or else just modifying the hood from (HOTU or CEP ? not sure, plain old hood with shading so the head doesn't matter) to make it sort of, well taller, pointier, more like a witch or wizard cap. anyhow. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Strange... I always thought MUSKETEERS were supposed to have MUSKETS (those muzzle-loading things people used before the rifle was invented).

it is a cute hat.. I think it could use a little texture though to help it fit in with everything else
this new comment system is a major pain in the +blocked+... I know my user name, and I know my password.. I'm posting in my guilds forum right now.. and STILL I cannot post here with it.. arghhhh

hey lisa,
this looks closer to the real thing than the green pik...
I work at ren faires some summers and have spent more hours than I want to think about reaserching period clothes, one thought would be to add a pin buckle to the proped up side as the curled side was pined up so your sword didn't get tangled in it, as the leather was soft not stiff like the ones you see with cardboard in them that stay rolled on their own... just so no one whines yes there were hats that were dried rolled but the first time they got wet they were ruined!
ben
cheers on a very cool hat oh you might want to try a shanter next their fun :)

Ahh, thought as much. The bandana would have lot of problems I think. But the tricorn sounds nice. Yea old leathery thing untop of some old drunken pirate's head :)

however, an open face hood you would have not only have to deal with clipping while looking foreward, but clipping while the face rotated, left and right, up and down. I believe that a nose sticking out of the fabric of a hood or chainmail head gear would probably 'destroy the illusion' for most of us.[/quote]
I agree with you on this one. Plus when you use a head with a ponytail or horns, they'll stick out off the hood too. The gnomish heads will definately have the nose sticking out of the hood .. mm dunno. Open-faced helmets and hoods would be something that can only look good on certain headmodels.
First, I tried the hats just a minute ago. When I saw them I thought there would a some animation flaws with walking, fighting and what not. To my surprise there weren't that many flaws so this robe for a hat business seems to work pretty well. A good job on implenting content of this kind, Lisa. I really like the hats - too bad my character isn't a hat person but meh. :P
Now, when making this sort of stuff you always know there'll be request so mm here goes. I was wondering if it's possible to make one of those pirate bandana's or whatever you call those rags on their heads. I'm not entirelly sure because I think the head itself will move to much for the rag to keep up with it. Never the less it would be a very nice thing if you could pull this off.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing your new content and such.

First of course, thanks Lisa for yet another fabulous creation!
But, in echoing Lisa's comments on the frustrations for modeling in NWN, there are three little 'quirks' you can examine in the game/toolkit to understand some of the limitations Lisa is fighting against.
The first I noticed from her tabbard, is that the robe seems to be some modification of the belt slot. That is, when you put on a robe, your belt goes away. This isn't an issue w/ Bioware's closed robes, but with the tabbard, and what I'de like to see an open-front robe it can be an issue.
The other two things you have to run the game to see.
First, and again the tabbard is good to use for this. Start up a game and have your PC change into a tabbard outfit and DON'T MOVE. Now go up to the neck line and look at your character. Mine at least, you can see the tabbard and his skin/shirt underneath "weaving" in and out of each other. Since the robe is a modified belt, this makes some sense. The legs, pelvis, and torso all bend slightly to animate normal balancing, and they animate out of sequence with one another. When you put on a robe, they are supposed to lock their animations together so you don't have these kind of clipping issues. Once you move the PC, the animations syncronize and everything looks great. This is only an issue for PCs and Henchpersons, as most NPCs don't change clothes.
Finally, this is a hat issue, and justification for big hats . Put a hat on the PC and have him stand next to an NPC, rotate the PC so he is facing about 30 degrees away from the NPC. Now cursor over to the NPC, and the PC will turn his HEAD to look that way, but the HAT continues to look forward! Since the head is a head, and the hat is a belt this is perfectly reasonable for the animations. With Lisa's musketeer hat, you usually don't notice (I'de been wearing one playing the game for about 10-15 hours before noticing); however, an open face hood you would have not only have to deal with clipping while looking foreward, but clipping while the face rotated, left and right, up and down. I believe that a nose sticking out of the fabric of a hood or chainmail head gear would probably 'destroy the illusion' for most of us.
That said, I don't see any of these issues a limitation for a wizard's cone, so please Lisa! Make that your next project.

@ starrchild: Yeah, that's the right texture, but the thing I need is a combined model of the hat and tabard. That way I could use it as musketeer outfit, which is currently not possible as both the hat and the tabard are robes and you can only have one robe at a time.
I'd love to try my hands at that, but unfortunately Gmax refuses to work *grumble*

Go work for Bioware... they could use some lessons on making better clothes and equipment for the characters...

Lisa, i hope that you'll make more hats, like wizards hat, and more,more,more...

Lisa, could you create a combination model of the hat and the tabard (possibly with a "fleur de lys" heraldic symbol)? That would be absolutely awesome for all swashbuckling adventure fans out there :)
Nice work as usual, I really love the way your work has improved character customisation in NWN.

I can see your point now and understand the decision, but there is no need to get flustered, it was a comment, If it doesn't work then ok, if it did then I suppose you would have changed it. I never said I didn't like it, in fact it was quite the contrary.
"... Otherwise this is a great idea."
If this is the way we can add new clothing why doesn't bioware just add a couple more of this type of thing so we could try for doing other wearables? That way we dont' have to give up robes for cloaks, or give up robes for hats, etc.

Hey! My post got messed up. As I was asking before, do you have or could you make just one hat without the feather? >ducking from flamers< Please?
