Description
Ok, More stuff! Just what you were waiting for, I know. No, actually this was a special request (I know you don't need any more proof I played Barbies too much as a child). Besides, I was babysitting my niece so I had to stay home and do something while she napped...I hope people enjoy it.********SoU 2da replacements zip, Important to read directions for use! Note it is not 'ready to use' you must choose/edit what you need and form a hak pack. If you have NWN 1.3, follow the same directions to make new files.

Need the right accessories to set the mood? ************** ROMANTIC GOLDEN PARASOL: perfect for flirting at afternoon garden parties. Added bonus! If the guy gets out of line you can always take him out with it, as it is really a disguised staff. *****************MOURNER'S UMBRELLA: Nothing beats it for those rainy-day graveside funerals! I almost cried at the scene I set up for the screenshots of this one! Added bonus! If the dearly departed suddenly gets 'undead' you can always take him out with it, as it is really a disguised staff. ************ADDED**ORIENTAL DRAGON UMBRELLA: Based on an antique Chinese parchment umbrella I own. (Well we had another foot of snow and it's a 'snow day' and my plow man hasn't dug me out yet.)

How to use: Create a Mage Staff and choose the following on the appearance tab. TOP: model 1 color 4___MIDDLE: model 1 color 4 for Umbrella or model 1 color 5 for parasol or model 1 color 6 for dragon___BOTTOM: model 1 color 4 ************************************* Or import from the included erf file (look in custom mage staves). ************************************* Note: These are non-replacing models and you can set any properties you feel like; the ones in the erf have no special properties pre-set. ************************************* This hak is compatible with all my other haks; like named files are exact duplicates except the baseitems.2da here must be first priority as I changed the mage staves so that they have minimum of 0 magic properties instead of the annoying minimum of 3.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 21 that made this score of 6.51.

You can also beat someone to death with a bag, if you go to staves and adjust it a little. ^.^ Hahaha!

Posted by Leonardo da Vinci ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-15 20:15:00
Oh my god! Is this true? Can you finally beat someone to death with an umbrella?!

Posted by Nitocris ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-01 16:54:00
Hehe, how awesome does it get? Now if I can just figure out a way to justify using a parasol in the underdark.. Ooh! Caves.. are leaky..yeah. That's the ticket! (Lisa rocks, woo!)

Lisa:

Thanks for your help. I did also use another of your haks, the cool staff thingy. I've heard of combining haks. Any links to a tool or instructions to do that?

I appreciate your contributions to NWN immensely. I'll diddle around with my module tonight with your suggestions and see if I can make some headway. Yes, it was an NPC to whom I gave the parasol.

Posted by Lisa ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-11 09:20:00
Vingamel

By default "mage staves" which my parasols are based on, need a minimum of 3 properties and that can make them unusable by some characters. If the character is an NPC the newest patch of NWN toolset added a box that asks if you want to add needed feats to the NPC when you try to equip items that they don't have feats for.

HOWEVER - in this hak, I included an altered "baseitems.2da" file that made it so staves could have ZERO properties. I would guess that at least one of your other haks may have also the "baseitems.2da" file that conflicts with mine if you are being told that parasols need 3 properties. Getting the "2da" files to mesh is the trickiest part of using multiple hak packs. The best advice I've seen on this is extracting all the 2da files from the haks and making a "combined version" 2da that includes all the different changes - then you make a new hak with just the combo 2da files and make it first priority hak.

Now with 10 haks- you could also have models and other files conflicting (especially if they are haks with similar items). Myself, I am extracting all the items and makeing combo haks especially for my module:
Tileset hak, clothes hak, weapon hak, placeables hak, 2da hak. That way I can minimize using only things I want, I can find everything, and check for duplicate file names.

It is a lot of work but truth be told - it must be done - if you want stuff from lots of haks made by different people because there are almost certain to be conflicts. :(

PS. All my released haks are compatible with each other and can be combined with only making sure you always use the 2da of the most recently released hak as the top priority.

Lisa:

Yes, I plopped the parasol into the weapon slot, and also made it droppable. How do you make it so it needs no feats? I took them all off and it said it required a minimum of three feets.

Well, on another note, I had added about ten hak files in the last days, and now when I try to play my module, it is slow to load, and then an error says Cannot Find Module, or It May Be Corrupt. So maybe there's something wrong with one or more of the hak files I've added. Not sure how to "un-corrupt" my module. I write adventures for my two young daughters (so I find I like your stuff a lot!).

Your help is appreciated.

Vingamel,
Did you go into her inventory and equip it in her weapon slot? Once you do she should hold it horizantally. The "staff" won't be lifted to vertical postion in the toolset but it will once you "play" the game. Also check the properties of the "staff" - I make mine with no properties when they are parasols so that no feats are needed and the item doesn't need identifying.

Okay, I'm new at this hakpack stuff, so bear with me. I added the umbrella hakpack just fine, then tried to create a parasol for a little girl. I modified a mage staff and got the parasol (very nice) on the girl's appearance. However, after saving and playing the module, she is carrying nothing. Help? I'm probably forgetting something pretty basic.

How the hell do you do it, this is great, where's the 10 stars button gone?

Tempest,
I think that would be true for any item that has it's model
in a hak pack - if you try to take the character to a
module without the hak model the game will not know what to
do with it.
I should think that there should be a way for the DM to
check entering characters for "invalid items" and remove
them before trying to import the character (I know they can
check for and remove doctered items or items that are too
powerful etc.)

Posted by Tempest ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-09 09:47:00
Oh dear, seems to be an issue with this one.
If I try to visit a server that doesn't have the hak with a
character that has a parasol in her inventory, the game
crashes :(
Aww, and I just added it to Calidorn...
Well, it looks too good to take it out again :)

*hugs*

Lisa, you're too good to be true. Thanks for all your great
stuff. The umbrellas are just what we need in the rainy
Calidorn.

*hugs*

Lisa, I just wanted to say that I have seen and used pretty
much all the haks you put out and you add so much life to
the game with all the little things you create. Your haks
really add atmosphere and style to what would normally be a
fairly drab game. I salute you and the other folks out
there with the talent to create this custom content, with
out you gals and guys this game wouldn't be the same.

Posted by ThapAttack ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-05 02:35:00
*sigh* and my module's hak pack gets bigger...

Posted by Lisa ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-04 20:05:00
I re-uploaded the hak - the zip file will say "3" on the
end but the hak has the same name. Replace the current
version with this one and hopefully the silver will turn
gold like it should.

Please email me if it doesn't correct!

Again - sorry for the inconvenience.

Arch,
Forget the last message - for some reason the uploaded hak
or erf has gone funny because I downloaded it an it turned
up silver. I am re-uploading the hak and hopefully that
will fix the problem - sorry for the inconvenience.

Silvered - usually happens if the texture is missing or
misnamed - but I know it worked because I used it to do the
module with the screen shots. Did you unpack the hak and
move the models or rename anything? Did you import the erf
before you added the hak to the mod? Are you using any
other haks when this happens? I also have seen some weird
things when the over-ride folder is used rather than a hak
pack. I tested it in ver 1.27 and 1.28.
Email me more info if it hasn't cleard up.

Only other idea I have is - add the hak pack, save, quit
the toolset totally, and then restart the toolset and check
the parasol again.

If you still have a problem - if you could make a one area
tiny "test mod" that has the problem and send it to me I
can check it out on my computer.

For some reason, the parasol is showing as silver and not
the pretty golden color in the screenshots. Perhaps there
is somethng I neglected to do ? The idea of the
parasol..thats amazing.. Lisa's stuff is the best

Thanks for these Lisa they are great and a perfect
addition to the many georgian and victorian based modules
being worked on.

Would you ever consider making a few jackets and trousers
from those eras? Like the red and blue coats of the
british and french armies of the time?

The elaborate collars and many of the dresses are already
superb for the setting but a few more male fashions would
be GREATLY appreciated :)

Thanks

GPE,

It was a pleasure - I know you only asked for the mourners
umbrella but when I saw how great it looked, it inspired me
to make the parasol. I love getting requests that I can do
fairly easily. The monk outfit took me almost a month -
I've been fighting with various hats for many months.

The graveside mini-scene in a storm in the game that I did
for the screenshots had a lot of atmosphere and the
umbrella really was the finishing touch - just like you
imagined. Good Luck on your mod too!

Posted by gpeddino ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-02 15:41:00
Lisa, that's perfect!
Thanks a lot for taking my request, and I'm still amazed of
how fast you finished it (one day!). Be sure you have a
great fan from now on.

Keep up the good work.

love the hak, and the pictures are just amazing-taking nwn
off into a strange, FF8, victorian place- where does the
open grave come from ( or is it something I've just not
spotted in the normal tileset)?. as usual -great stuff!

Posted by Stefan Gagne ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-02 08:23:00
Ohh, man... this is great. I would've never thought to ask
for a mage staff / umbrella but now that we've got one,
the possibilities are just evil. I love that you can
actually use it in combat scenarios. >:) Good work!
