Finding those pillaging raids too long ? Need fresh air and outdoor workout ? Get a Longship ! This hak pak will add two new tilegroups to both the Rural and City Exterior tilesets (docked and floating versions). The tilegroups are Longship-style ships and are 3x2 tiles each. Also included is a small demo module.

Too bad it didn't have two longships tied up together or a longship and a merchant ship for boarding. Looks great. I'll use it whenever I can. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Looks like I forgot to vote for these excellent ships earlier. They are wonderful! _________________________ NWN Shield Reskins Link New Small Shields Link

Had to say it again, thank you for all this work and these beautiful ships!

Thanks Some_ux. I thought I'd give it a bash at altering the .set file, I mean how hard could it be? Exported her to desktop, opened her up in a text file and...
...er..yeah...I'll wait for someone to combine the haks.
Bloody computer gobbly gook.
PS - These are gorgeous ships, certainly worth the wait.

Thanks, I didn't know this way to disable animation ; )

It was my original intention that the floating version should appear as though traveling by wind power. You can however, show the rows by disabling animation loop 1 on the floating tile groups.

oh I almast forgot, nice work, really *clap*clap*

Hmm.. When packing it in my Wolfsong rural tileset enriched, I get a problem with the rows. The docked ship shows 'em but not the floating one. A way to correct it myself or was it your will ?
Posted by Some_ux ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-03 23:53:00
Yes Goofy, there is a way. This will require the creation of a combo hak (one that will incorporate both model sets). To achieve this, you will need to know how to use the nwhak program provided in the \utils directory. Also you would need to be familiar with the .set file format. In a nutshell, you will need to shift the [tilexx] and [groupxx] entries relating to the models (I have provided the entry numbers for my models in the Readme file).
If this sounds too complicated to you, Id suggest waiting a couple of days, someone is bound to make a combo hak that will include both ships.

Is there any way I can fiddle with this hak so it doesn't replace the Galleons hak?
Posted by Schazzwozzer ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-02 23:43:00
A very nice set of tiles, Some. They look great and work beautifully -- there are no walkmesh problems that I found, which tend to be common in custom tiles. You've really gone all out too, including docked versions for both the rural and city exterior tilesets, which look great, by the way.
Highly recommended!

Now all we need is some "authentic" good burly red-haired vikings with horned helmets, and all the neverwinter nights viking experts will be happy. Hehe. Great boat by the way. I'm sure we will be seeing it incorporated into all the rural and city haks from now on, much like hills and homes, NW Alleys, and galleons.

Very sweet she is, with a dragon header too! Gets my viking blood going, now where to get a crew...

Absolutely excellent.
I've seen the thing come to life over the last few weeks and al i can say is "keep the good work going Some_ux"

Cheshire Cat ^..^, as I said in the Readme, the Longships shallowness of draught is what made the ship so special, as this reduced drag allowing greater speed and maneuverability. Not only that, it also made it capable of going where other ships could not (such as shallow rivers). And again as Ive stated in the Readme, according to research done on replicas of authentic Viking Longships they drew only 3 feet of water. In my model, from the lower part of the keel up to sea level it is precisely 97.93cm or 3.2129265 feet (I assumed partial load). So no, It is not too high.

Isn't the ship a little bit too high from the water? It looks like it's almost flying
Posted by tired of standing ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-01 08:12:00
So those burly vikings were able to stand the whole time they rowed the boat?
