This is a small application for creating custom font files to replace the conversation font in NWN. It allows you to select a TrueType font, size and style from your system and then generates the TGA and TXI file required. You then copy these files to the override directory to use them (simply delete them from the override directory to go back to the originals). The Offset fields included are for tweaking the look of the fonts. You may have to play with them a bit to get it looking just right (depends on the font) but the default values work for most fonts (around 16 point at least). The zip also includes the TGA and TXI files of a sample font (Tempus). It is a .NET Framework application so you will need to have the framework installed (available from windows update). I have only tested this on Windows XP, but it may work on any windows that supports .NET framwork.

Wonderful! Thank you! This is just what I need. Now I only have to figure out how to replace single characters in the TT-fonts before converting them, because toying with the tga file will mess things up. _________________________ "A Hippie's Tale", a colouful little module: Link

Make sure high resolution font is turned off in your video settings.

I think it's the TXI file that conflicts, not the TGA file. Is the TXI file altered with the change of the TGA file? _________________________ No, I am NOT a Lotus Assassin! Those guys have scars and such, and at least I've still got some hair left.
It says version 1.29 or lower. The default font works with version 1.68 but any generated won't work. Would it be the code in the TXI file that makes it so? I would like to know for sure. _________________________ No, I am NOT a Lotus Assassin! Those guys have scars and such, and at least I've still got some hair left.

Very nice utility. For those who complain without giving feedback or attempting to solve the problem themselves....DON'T VOTE. At first I didn't get the expected font either, but in the graphics options for the game there is a checkbox for "Use high resolution font" which I had enabled. Disabling that feature made these custom fonts show up and work as expected. The high resolution font probably references another TGA/TXI set of files that needs to be addressed with a fix to the tool or some other means. _________________________ [More TNO Placeables][Community Music Pack][More Doors][My Other Custom Content]

Worthless, non-working junk.

Same problem, I select a font, generate it and put it in the override, but ingame not font is showing. I have tested different fonts, but always the same problem
For those wanting to make higher-visibility fonts- it might sound backwards, but variable-case, serif fonts like Times New Roman are the easiest to read and absorb information from. All-caps sans-serif fonts, especially narrow ones, are the hardest to process information from. Weird stuff you learn in design classes... :-)

Great utility!
Only, I can't get the fonts loading. :) Generating a larger font would be a godsend to me. I'm playing on a TV from my couch, and I can't read the default fonts (ya ya, buy an HDTV, I know). To make it nice, I'm trying to generate a nice big Arial or Sans Serif font set. I put it in the override dir but it doesn't load up in the game. Am I missing anything? Any suggestions on other values in your app? Keep up the good work!!
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 7 that made this score of 7.57.

Does this utility allow you to use multiple fonts in a conversation or just replace the default font.
I.e. Can you have conversations which mix fonts? Can you have each conversation use a different font?

But this app wouldn't have been created if .NET didn't
exist :-)
It made it really easy to write (only about 40-50 lines of
code required).

.NET yuck! This would be a great application if .NET
wasn't required. Anyway anyone could load up some fonts
like the oversize one's for the override directory? I'm
interested in the Britania font and Fallout font sets.

Sorry about that, but I did try to warn you in the
description :-)

Ah ha!
Just realised the problem I've had running this app is
that I haven't got the .NET framework installed. So a 23k
download has just become a 20MB one. Nice over a modem.

I've downloaded this several times and keep getting an
error message:
"The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

And I suggest you use a font size of about 16-20 point.
Anyone know how to increase the size of the NPC
conversation area?

Fixed the spacing issue, and now I've included the
application.
Oh, and only one font is included now, rather than three.

I've worked out how to fix the spacing, so I may be
uploading a new version of these fonts later tonight (and
maybe some others if I can find some nicer TrueType fonts).
