Thanks for the info. What to do with the PSD files should be in the readme. I didn't know what to do with them either.

If it's part of the module, you better believe it deserves a vote. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
Thanks,

That's a really nice way to help people - I guess you always know how to do everything and we should all stand in awe of you...NOT.
The PSD files are for PhotoShop and are not required for the hackpack. The .HAK file goes in your HAK dir. The .ERF file goes into your ERF dir.

Honestly guys, you seroiusly don't know how to install the portaits? I'm not gonna say anything. The PSD files, from the name of the files I can probably say they are for your own portraits. Borders nonetheless. Awesome portraits Lupin, I will be using them in my module that is in the building phase right now.
Okay, simple fact here... if you want the file to be smaller that means I would have to remove content. The file is zipped with maximum compression. Textures have a fixed filesize in the NWN supported format.
Remember that modders are sharing their work with the community and constantly bitching at them for various reasons only encourages them to not bother to share. It would be one thing if modders were being paid for their work and then giving a faulty product to their customers, but when they are using their own time and providing something to everyone at no charge ... well, whatever.
Another note, everytime a new version of the game comes out I end up having to spend several hours redoing the same old tasks to make the mod compatible. I'm not going to do this anymore, I just don't have the time for it... if anyone else wants to pick up the torch and update this for newer versions, I would appreciate it...
Install instructions in the readme would be helpful.

How incredibly rude! There are many people who feel fortunate enough just to have access to the wonderful world we call the internet. It is not as easy for a person like me to just upgrade in the bat of an eye. I have a serious mental disability which limits my working capacity. My 56k modem is the best I can afford!
You should not be so quick to hand out shallow judgement. It is not a sin to inquire as to whether or not a file can be downloaded more easily. You should feel good enough about yourself and your "fast internet connection" that you don't have to come crashing down on those who might not be as advantaged as you. They might not be as keen to technology as others, they might not be able to afford better technology, and either way they don't need people who feel big and strong hiding behind a message board giving them hell and judging them unfairly.
Shame on you.
Now, even though it will take a number of hours to do so, I am going to download the file and maintain my dignity. I don't NEED anything faster, I can be patient. I would rather the file not be so large, but I downloaded all 120megs of the CEP, I can handle this.
-D ;)

or get Getright, which is a handy download manager. Frankly, I myself am sick of listening to 56k'ers cry.. move up with the times, or log off. Dialup is going the way 2400, 14000, 28000, and all the k's below those went.

I think this would be half as good as it is if you hadn't selected a very nice set of painting to use.

I'm with Recarty about the download. 17.5M is big enough for those of us with dialups to go nuts. We need a better method of download mangement than IE provides. I wish large (>10MB) files were on a file-sharing system like Shareaza so we can get bits & pieces of the file as providers come available. This is an example of .. some parties .. that contribute to the problem not being willing to solve the problem. Of course, this is not the responsibility of anyone here. However, it cannot be ignored.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 9 that made this score of 8.67.

Great Job !
There is only one problem :
when you preview those great painting in toolset, orientation is wrong and you see nothing. You need to move around to see whats picture is it. Very fastidious, any fix in prevision ?

18 Megs is no problem. Well worth it. Keep up the good work and big files.

Unfortunately, I live in Africa and it would take me about a day to download this (whopping 14.4 connection, when it stays active). I do have the original hakpak (from before I moved here) and have created my own paintings, but I can't figure out how to put more than two in a module at a time with the original hak. As the comments say, I think I need the models in this new version - is there a version of this without the paintings? Any help is most welcome. Thanks! When I get back to civilization I'll be sure to download this one.

Heh,
Welcome to the world of hakpaks Todd. Here's how you do it.
1.) DL and unzip (or unRAR) the file.
2.) Find where the file unzipped to. Grab the .hak and drop it into your Hak folder in the NWN directory.
3.) Open the module you want to use the paintings for, then go to 'module properties' to associate the hak (I'm assuming you know how to do that).
4.) Now, grab the ERF file (which is part of the unzipped package) and import it. You do this by clicking file > import > (find the ERF file, wherever it is).
What ERF files do is take objects and create identities fo them in the toolset. You could certainly do this for yourself, but by including the ERF the hak builder saves you the time it would take to do it yourself.
It's sort of like the penguin. It's available in the toolset as an appearance, but there is no creature in the standard or custom toolbar that says 'penguin,' so you have to build one from scratch, or change the 'appearance' of an existing monster, like a chicken, to 'penguin.'
So, in a nutshell, you don't need ERF files, but they save you time and are handy to have around.
I hope that helps. . .

I love the look of this hak. just what any builder need to add some variety and colour to a module.
Question though???
i'm new at this. I havent downloaded the entire file yet (28.8 k phone line lol) but what do you do with .erf files? (they were mentioned in the comments)
do they just go into the Hak dir in the NWN folder with the .hak file?
i know it might seem silly to ask -- but much of the user content available on this site has .erf files. and while i've read that .Hak file go into the Hak folder.
i've never seen anything on the .erf files.
as i say... might seem silly to ask. but i'm a firm believer that - he who is afraid to ask in case of looking silly... just stays uninformed. :)
on the download time. i have a downlaod manager called lightning download. it means i can get the file over a couple of days -- while i watch a movie or something.
thanks for the hard work BTW

Lentorre, you can place objects (I haven't tried NPCs yet)
on tables, cabinets and benches that come with tilesets.
Placeables really do go through. If you specifically need a
platform with these qualities you should make it as a
custom placeable or ask somebody to do it for you.

Beautiful. I was just wondering about this tonight, went
searching and found it right away. Thanks!
This is a random question, but I was wondering if anyone
knows of a large stage-like platform that's only a couple
feet high that an NPC or creature can stand on. Everything
I have used thus far allows the creature to just go right
through.

I need this pack! But is there other site where I can
download it from? I just keep having problems with
downloading it from here.
Posted by ChazM ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-24 15:46:00
This is a truly wonderful resource! It's not hard to find
a painting here that will fit just about any module.
Great variety! Thanks so much!

For those of you complaining about download time... By the
time I was finished reading the comments It was done
downloading, and I don't even have that fast of a
conection, you probably just got the NWVault server when it
was bussy.

Thanks for the update, I have been looking forward to
including this for awhile. I had no problems downloading
with my 56k modem. It took about 1 hr 15 min. Kudos!

Dial up is terriable I utter dispise it and wish I could
get some sort of broadband. 24000bps 56k is enough to make
break my fingers in frustration. Glad I have Getright I'll
set this up for DL at 3 am and it will be done in the
morning *sigh*
Oh I am working on Massive game world with neverending
spawns if some one with cable is interested in hosting it
for me email me and I will burn it to a cd when I am done.
Oh and as for this hak pak I like it and I will find a good
use for you will see it in my game world.

Great Work! I've been looking everywhere for something like
this.
As for the size, 18 MB is nothing. For crying out loud the
Microsoft Windows 2000 SP 3 is about 55MB express and 128MB
network. Ditch the dialup and get out of the 90s.
