This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 3 that made this score of 10.00.

Gilligan,
That would be a nice thing. Orderly. Enough of us would
have to participate for it to have any effect though.
Kristen, I belive you know this already, but I'll say
anyway. This problem has been corrected with Niz_X3.
Download it today at your nearest Neverwinter Vault. :)

Hi Niz,
I love the combos you put out. I am having one particular
problem though. It seems the Drow City tileset has replaced
the normal Exterior City tileset. Everything else is
awwesome! If there a work around for this? Or is there an
updated copy I can download?
- Thanks ever so much for all your time and hard work!

I like the idea, but it could be improved. Why not have
the vault post common 2da files? Creators could check
against the list, register their creations and update them
as nescesary. That way ERFs would actually work and you
could combine HAKs with less problems. Standization is
key.

Actually, Slayer's idea is not all bad... I'm sure by
monster files he means the humungeous ones - and I'm sure
there would be some use for just the edited files like
Wizbane's recent post which has download figures similar
to this set's figures. Maybe there might be a tad more
interest than you think?
I applaud both you guys - Nix and MMMAzrael as you both
do things I could never do! Along with Bodangly and the
rest - you guys are the heart of the community. Your point
about helping out is very well made, MMaz and I support
you totally!
I think Slayers idea is simply that once you uploaded a
300 meg zipped hak - a small 10k file that might contain
the .set & or .itp files for other folks might ease their
download burden and still help them out enormously.
Respectfully - Bela

Slayer,
In defense of Niz (like he needs it), it's not so simple.
90% of the NWN users are too afraid to even download the
HAK combiner much less run it. Also, when a HAK gets to a
certain size, unless you have a monster machine, you cannot
modify it anymore. So people like us are taking the hard
work out of it. I grant you, there is a VERY SMALL minority
who, like you, want to do this themselves but if that's the
case, unhak our files, take what you want, rehak and off
you go. Just my $.02

Is your point that you don't like my selection of monsters?
Posted by The Great Slayer of Gelatinous Cubes ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-13 17:54:00
hmmm maybe now is the time to consider some alternatives to
monster files. Perhaps you could just post the stuff you
actually had to edit to combine the files (ie .2das etc)
and then simply include a read me listing the other haks
the person has to combine themselves. The hak combiner is
easy to use and this will also help to conserve space here
at the vault (even if that isn't really necessary).
ps. was this hak for specific module or simply meant as a
resource for designers similar to the xin1?)

Any chance either of you guys could work in all the hills
sets? I've tried but I can't manage to get Desert &
Cities, Velmar's tower and the Xanas dwhills with the
desert and winter hills - there are too many ttr01.set and
ttrwhatever.itp files and I have no idea about how to edit
these.
I usually wind up with either the tower, rural and winter
hills and no desert hills - or the desert hills but no
tower...
I have combined all the haks themselves ok - but I really
need help with the .set and .itp files.

MMazrael,
No bother.

Max,
I believe that I read somwhere that his hak was 1 Gb. Huge.
How big is your Hak? We support up to 450MB. :) Actually
theoretically we have no set limit but I have to set it at
something so 450MB is where it is right now which is twice
the size of the largest file we are serving.

Well poopoo...looks like my HAK is a bit too big for the
Vault. I'm grabbing some high-bandwidth webspace and I'll
re-post it there. This sucks. :(

Working for Cisco has advantages. We have a "shadow"
company called CBeyond. through them I get a T1 to the
house for $110/month and Cisco picks up the tab for the
first $70. :) So it only took about an hour to upload it.
I'm going to update it already tonight thanks to Velmar's
update to his interior.
As for ram, I'm using two sticks of 256, Kingston CL2. The
trick is the swap file. In Win2k and XP, just set it to 3x
your RAM. Don't let Windows manage it. In 9x, you can do it
but then Winblows begins to suck wind.
I need to find my mega-hak so I can post all what's in
there before people start asking...

Thanks for the loacation of MMazrael's HAK NIZ.
I'm able to make HAKS over 1GB and I am using 2 PNY 256MB
PC2100 DDR DIMM modules. Hope that helps.

Mandroid,
I don't know what to say. I test downloaded it and it is
fine for me. Mabey the servers were really busy and ya got
a couple of bad downloads - I don't know.
What kind of download speed were ya gettin?
Posted by Nizidramanii't ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-11 11:58:00
MMAzrael
I can't even drag the file into Biowares HakViewer
anymore. I get a stream read error when HakViewer trys to
open it.
My only suspicion is lack of RAM.
Just out of curiosity, how much and what type of RAM are
you using?
On a side note, I saw your All-Inclussive-Mega-Hack on the
search page ... man, that must of taken awhile to upload. :)
Posted by Gilligan02703 ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-11 11:52:00
MMAzrael is your HAK posted anywhere? I'd love to take a
look at it. I've created my own 1GB+ HAK in the manner
which you describe, but I managed to screw it up and lost
some textures and a couple of placeables. Thanks -Gill

I have been unable to download this file out of about 7
attempts now. At some point it stops download like its
done (10 MB, 35 MB, 67 MB, etc) when it obviously isn't.
I go to open the file and it says its corrupted. Any
fixes for this? (Downloading it on DSL by the way)
Posted by MMAzrael ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-11 08:39:00
Niz - don't use the combiner. :) Instead, unhak you
existing hak into a folder, copy the new files over
(remember to update the .2da diles) and then rehak it. As
silly as it sounds, I now have a 1GB hak with 32 quality
tilesets, 420 placeables, 200+ creatures, 100+ portraits,
etc etc etc.
As for practicality of haks this large, those looking to
make 100% unique mods, this is critical. Yes, modem users
will NEVER download a hak like this. Truth be told,
probably 80% + of NWN users will have no need for this but
MAYBE if someone makes a compelling expansion-sized mod,
haks of this size will make sense.
Posted by juleslawrence ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-11-11 02:41:00
.....An interesting thing about your Haks is that they
serve as a sort of instant review of tilesets/monsters. I'd
love to use one of the enormous sets for somnething I'm
working on, but the file size renders it pretty much
impractical. However - Its now clear to the semi-tech
illiterate types like me that (a) all the bits in your
packs can be combined successfully, and (b) your choice of
what to include is pretty much a seal of quality (though
those +blocked+ scorpions still don't seem to die properly!).
Anyway- the bottom line is, thanks for inspiring me to get
it together to make up a stripped down version of X- soon
to be available to accompany the module "Blood Money" (
provisional title......actually, due to the use of some of
petpak its looking like a good start point for "Lassie goes
to Icewind Dale" too!)

Thanks.
Couldn't really say what the maximum would be on a hak.
Only that it is dependent on the amount of physical RAM in
your system - and mabey also on the HakCombine program as
well.
Both Niz_X and Niz's Tieset & Monster Pack are just about
maxed out. I know this because I've tried adding more to
the latter and am unable to do so - I'm reserving the rest
of the space in Niz_X for monsters and placeables. I can't
even put the file in the hakviewer anymore ... it kills
the program ... time for some more RAM ... hold on, I'm
pretty much maxed out in Windows 98 at 512. Oh well.
Guess I'll have to upgrade to XP soon enough.
