UPDATE : WIP v1.1 - added more tiles to make building easier, please read readme included in file for list of added tiles. also fixed a small error in the set file.
This a work in progress version on a tileset/add-on I'm working on. Inluded in this hak are 4 new terrains of an oriental theme for the rural tileset. This release is mainly so I can get feedback on my work so please let me know what you think, of course if you want to use it go right ahead. WARNING! The temple terrain can make roofed walkways which will block the camara view, unlocking the camara or using brandon's camara hak is recommended.

Well your hak has ben used on our Mod and it is likely to get a lot of attention. Trust me you dont need to do any more work on it. Maybe you should use your skill to be the first to develop a working horse add on! The holy grail of hak paks. Visit Link for more information about our mod and its release date...

I havn't heard of any problems like this yet, This add-on uses the old rural tileset(pre-sou) as a base. Maybe if you've used some the turf house tile in your module which is only available in sou this may cuase a problem.
I know other people have used this in modules without a problem, Which other haks are you using?
Posted by Shye ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-08-12 00:58:00
Wonderful hak but it seems to present a problem.
I've tested it a in module with others hak with SoU 1.30.
I've builded and tested it in the game.
When i've tried to reopen the module by toolset or game it tells me "maybe this module is been made with hak of never nwn versione" or so.
What can i do? It's an usual thing or i'm the first to discover? :(

Thanks for the comments...
Druadoc, I will be including hills in the final version but I am unlikley to include them in the WIP version or make further updates to this, the primary reason for this hakpak was to get a little feedback on my work. That feedback will go into the full version which should be ready in a month(there or abouts).
basementjaxx, I have started the interiors, they are very basic and will probably be bundled along with the final version of this hak.
Seth of bane, thanks, glad you liked it.

Great job! I want to make a home for my monk... and this will work nicely. I look forward to the interior tileset so that I dont have to use the funky looking castle interior. :)

A wonderful job! Simply amazing! It is good to see more of the Eastern culture on here. Good work.

Sorry, forgot to mention this is a wonderful hakpak :). Keep up the good work!

Well... It appears I have accidently used the old NWN rural set file instead of the SOU version. So at the moment it will work with SOU but you won't be able to use the extra features added to the rural tileset in SOU.
My main concern is that NWN owners may not be able to use an SOU version if I change all my files. I shall look into it.

one problem i found. the new SoU "turf house" and "wagon" are overrided by the edge tiles. Can you fix that in the next version?
Posted by coulisfu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-29 13:04:00
Thanks... Actually I'm thinking of making a very simple interior tileset to complement my building terrains. These will be plain blank interior terrains with a screen divider crosser. I'm also working on some placables to be used with both interiors and exteriors(about 30 planned).
The final version of this add-on tileset will add about 7 terrains, 20 new features and a couple of groups to the rural tileset. Works coming along slowley but should be ready in a roughly a month or so.

Very nice work on the tileset, I have been looking for oriental content for NWN for a while. Will you be making any other oriental tilesets such as interior areas?
Posted by coulisfu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-25 14:08:00
Thanks for the feedback Excalibur,
Edges, yeah I completely forgot about those! They will be included in the final version, I will be makin a seperate Bamboo terrain to act as a non walkable border too.
I can't seem to replicate the problem with the raise/lower and bamboo? could you possibly send me a small screenshot, if its not too much trouble, would be great.
Again thanks for your comments.

Outstanding job on the tileset! Looking forward to the finished product.
Just a few items of note:
1] I put the bamboo on a raised area and it seems to go higher than the raised area, leaving the white space that plagues the City/Rural (non-shrunk) tileset.
2] You need to add the edges :)
3] Keep up the damn good work!
Posted by coulisfu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-21 19:42:00
Okay... A small update to the add-on, here's a list of additions,
-Tile variations added for walls to allow them to touch trees, water and the raise/lower terrains.
-Wall gate with road added
-Noble terrain can now paint wider buildings like the Temple terrain.
-Noble terrain now has a corner tile with doors and stairs together.
-Temple terrain now has a tile with a door on the gable end of the building.
-A small mistake in the set file has been fixed for the Bamboo terrain.
There were quite a few suggestions and comments that unfortunatley I havn't as yet added, don't worry I havn't forgotten! More changes will be made to the final version so please keep your comments coming.

Korta... I'm not sure why the addon doesn't appear in the list. I have a friend with Nwn 1.30 and he has had no trouble using this hak. Even if it was a version problem it would still show up.
Maybe try downloading again?
Theres no reason it shoudn't work.
Posted by Korta ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-20 14:19:00
Thank but I think it does require SoU to run because it is in my hax pack but it won't show up in the edit module properties. But As soon as I can I will buy SoU also I am writing a book and then translating to NWN for my own enjoyment. But from all the pictures I have seen this is a sweat modle and I can't what to use it.
Posted by coulisfu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-20 12:55:00
Okay... I'm running SOU 1.30, but this should work with just NWN 1.30.
DIRECTIONS,
1-take the oriental_addon.hak and place this in the hak folder in your NWN dirctory.
2-Open up the toolset and start a new module. When given the option create a new area, choose rural.
3-Goto edit/module properties, select the custom content tab of the module properties window.
4-Using the drop down menu at the bottom select "oriental_addon" and then click the add button. Then OK, then yes. The toolset will now build module. click done.
5-Open your area back up, and in the list of terrains you should see new terrains all prefixed with "Ori_".
6-Create a masterpiece(heh).
If your adding this to an existing module please back up your work first, although I havn't heard of any problems from people doing this, I'd hate for anyone to lose their work.
If you trying to use this just as a player it won't do a thing... it will only work if a builder has made a module using the terrains.
Sorry if I went over everything obvious there just want to make sure you did everything.

I am using the NWN 1.30 I don't own SoU. I am not sure how to loadf the files into my game.
Posted by coulisfu ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-20 11:19:00
Hey there Korta... When you say you can't get it in the game do you mean, you can't open the hak in the toolset? or you can't open a module using the hak in the actual game?
What version of NWN are you using?
Give me as much info as you can and I'll see if I can help ya.
