The twist here is added Category/Subcategory entries in the 'Custom' placeables list. Having seen 'Expanded Placeables' by Merle, I liked the idea but was dissappointed that he didn't provide expandable lists like 'Special' expands to become 'Custom 1-5'. I dug into the placeablepal.itp and created the needed structures. I have added 9 expandable categories containing a total of 63 subcategories. (see screen shot for example expansions). Having this nice structure I added a lot of placeables to it, currently it includes placeables from 61 placeable packages from the vault. Merle noted that this technique didn't work in the DMClient, which is true but it does make them sort better there due to naming convention. Please check the 'ReadMe' for details of how to install as the process is different for NwN or SoU.
This package will now work with either NwN 1.29 or SoU 1.30 and it does so with a single placeables hak and erf. It does have seperate master haks for NwN or SoU.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 3 that made this score of 10.00.

Just looked over the key files in HoU. They made no changes to the placeablepal.itp, so the custom palette is fine as is. They added lines to placeables.2da up to 479 though. I had already padded to 599 with ver 0.4.2 so there will be no conflict with these added lines. All that's required is to extract my placeables.2da from the master hak and overwrite lines 0-479 in mine with the 0-479 lines from the HoU placeables.2da and place the changed placeables.2da back in the master hak. I have tested this and it works fine.
I'll release a new version padded to or beyond the recommended padding level in the near future.

Anyone know if this will work with HOTU now and if not, is someone gonna update it?

I have been looking for the best placeables pack to add to my Realm of Narirune Hak (which, if you read my guild's forum, you may know about) and this is it! Man, Grumalg you rock!

Ok, I figured out what the problem is.
There is an .erf and a .hak file named the same. If you accidentally put both of these in the hak folder, you can log onto the mod but you wont be able to see the placeables. Had they been named differently, this wouldnt happen

Has anyone tried this in multi player? I am having a strange problem with this hak. Im a version 1.31 and I have SOU. Anyway, My friend logged onto my mod to test some stuff for me. He couldnt see any of the placeables...? I could, but he couldnt. Its very strange because if he didnt have the right haks he couldnt get into the mod right?
And I was logging inot the server from a seperate machine but everything looked fine to me. Anyone else ever seen anything like this happen?

WTF Sad Girl, saying "...but i am a stupid girl..." doesnt just insult you, you make all girls look bad when you say that. WinRar is so much batter and is just as easy as winzip. Think before you speak.

"a stupid girl"? wtf? Don't use that as an excuse, just ask for a zip version like a normal person. Or read the readme for winrar. It's just as easy as winzip to use.

To get them to show up the DM Client just rename the custom itp from *pal.item to *palcus.itp
I do not think you can change the std palettes in the DM client.

I want just ask you, Grumalg. I have implemented previous version of your hak and I want to know. Shall I have a problems with colision or missing placeables after I will install this new version?

The Dwarf Behind The Curtain: I wasn't planning to add those to the package as I doubt most users would want them. But if a side project I'm tinkering with works out I may be able to offer them as an addon package. May take a while though. If you must have them fast, I suggest you add them below the first 2da line I use at the moment (i.e. line 599 and down) so as not to have troubles with my updates. That should work at least till HoU comes out...

Thank you so much for this fabulous work.
One selfish request. Can the next version include the d20 Modern placeables?

To the unnamed person with the problem: Did you follow the installation directions in the 'ReadMe' file? You must add two haks under module properties. One master hak (either gmgMaNwn.hak or gmgMaSoU.hak depending on what you are running) and the model/texture hak gmgPlace.hak. The master hak version you are useing should be above the model hak in the list (i.e. it must be the higest priority). Once they are both in place and the lists activated as the ReadMe explains, then the gmgPlace.erf is imported. Like it says in the ReadMe try this procedure on a new empty module with no other haks in use. If it works then, perhaps you are trying to use other hak's in combination with mine. If that is the case you will have to get into the combining of haks which is beyond the scope I can cover here. Contact me in email and I'll try to help you.

Draos The Dark: After seeing your comment I DLed it myself and unpacked it successfully as a test. I'm useing WinRAR and when I built the .RAR I selected 'Best' compression in the attempt to make it as small as possible for modemers. Perhaps WinACE can't handle the extreme compression. Try DLing a trial copy of WinRAR and see if you can unpack it then. You should find inside three haks, one erf, two .doc's, and two .txt's (there's a doc and txt version of each of the two info files). Windows explorer tells me there are a total of 110,884,621 bytes in the unpacked directory. The model/texture hak is 108,340,940 bytes by itself, the balance is the other 7 files. Let me know in email what happens and I'll try to help you.
NIZ: Thank you for the kind comments :) When I installed SoU tuesday evening on one of my machines and saw what they had done I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me. It took me about 40 hours across wed-sat to: Figure out what all they had done I had to account for, come up with an approach that would let me support both NwN 1.29 and SoU 1.30 because I didn't want to abandon 1.29 users, implement the changes, test the changes under both NwN and SoU, document things, package it up and get it uploaded in time to catch the weekend update on the vault.
I am not a modeler, nothing in the hak was created by me (except the expanded list structure). You can find the credits for any of the blueprints in the 'Comments' on them. They all tell where they came from by package name and author in 'Comments'
I think the real strength of this package come not solely from the expanded lists, but from the synergistic combination of the way the nameing conventions result in easily scannable sorted lists under each of the expanded category/subcategories.

I think I might be doing something wrong...
I got your categories to work and the names show up, but when I click to place them there is no model available. When I add placeables they show up, but yours don't. Any idea why?
