This HAK contains a modified BASEITEMS.2DA and 338 new inventory icons. To use, just place the HAK into your NWN hak directory. If you are a designer, make sure to add it under Custom Content. These inventory icons were created to be used on the Engliton PW server. Specifically, for use in Rowell's Tradeskill System, a custom built tradeskill which encompasses Alchemy, Armorsmith, Carpentry, Cooking, Farming, Fishing, Jewelcraft, Lumberjack, Mining, Tanning, Tailoring, Ritual Magic, Scribing, Stonecraft, and Weaponsmith. The icons were created from various sources, including reworked Bioware icons, a few EQ icons, images from aroudn the 'net, and some original pieces. The HAK contains the following icons: 47 Tall icons 108 Medium icons 163 Small icons 19 Thin icons 1 Wide icon (currently just a placeholder) The icons are accessible from the second Miscellaneous Size category in the item creation wizard. (Excepting Wide, as it has no standard icons).

Several of these icons are very nice, although the two hours needed to make 91-93 of them fit seamlessly into NWN was a real pain. _________________________ The VIVE NWN Project.

Send me a list of haks you are using and I wil see what the issue may be. My e-mail is in the hak information above the comments. Alternatively, you can PM me on the Engliton forums with the info, if you'd prefer.
Almost sounds like one of your haks uses some of the same resourse names as mine. I'd have to look at them to be sure. :)
Um.. alright sorry I just made a new discovery. The problem doesnt seem to be .2da related :S I tried to upload the hak without the .2da just to check and it still didn't work. Really stumped on this now, Im guessing that another hak is conflicting, but really dont know where to start :(
Loved the icons so much that Im trying to use them in a module Im building along side a tradeskill system (UOAbigails). However, I was wondering if you could help me with a problem. When ever I try and upload the Hak pak into the module theres an error when checking for missing resources in the item section. It seems to be something to do with the .2da file, I just cant figure out what. Do you have any ideas what could cause such an error?
Regards,
ArchPaladin/Berido

As I stated before, this is being looked into by Maximus per a conversation (e-mail) we have had. He will do what is required to protect the Vault, I am sure, though I hold no hard feelings for Architeuthis' posts. He is doing, as he explained, what he feels he must to help protect the Vault, too. And, my email is public on the hak above, just not for my posts.

If you don't want to cause trouble, don't. This hak pack is being sold, so anyone who makes a living off of selling those tiny icons isn't being competed against unfairly, which is the primary reason for copyright laws. I'm fairly certain most of this would fall under fair use rights. Ad the T.V. analogy doesn't work. That's physical property as opposed to intellectual, they have very different laws for very good reasons.

Hail! No big issue? Small graphics? So what? The law doesn't say you can distribute someone else's property without permission as long as the item is small. Xanas, is it OK for me to steal something from your house as long as it's "small"? If so, give me your address and I'll be right over. I could use a few more "small" items. And of course, I will decide for myself what "small" means. I hope you have a "small" TV, I could use another one of those.
Despite my sarcastic response, it is not my intent to cause trouble. It is my intent to spare this web site from the potential legal problems they could suffer if they allow people to distribute the copyrighted property of others without permission. I frankly don't care what happens to the people who do this sort of thing, but I do care about what happens to the single most important NWN community web site if they are found to be allowing illegal distribution of copyrighted material. I don't know Maximus in person, but I greatly respect what he and Mayseth and the others who work on this site are doing for the NWN community, and if I can protect them, I will.
As for things becoming public domain, that is a choice that can ONLY be made by the owner, not by you and me. There are many thousands of public domain and no-royalty graphics available on the Web. If you want to convert things for use in NWN, don't steal them from another game. Take something that is clearly in the public domain and convert that. Distributing someone else's copyrighted property for use in NWN is not only a violation of the owner's rights under the law, it is also a violation of the NWN EULA, which explicitly prohibits the use of any content copyrighted by a third party unless you have written permission from the copyright holder. That means that anyone who uses such material in an NWN game is in violation of the EULA as well.
Copyright law says that the person who holds the copyright has the exclusive and complete right to control distribution of their property. It doesn't mean you can use it just because you feel like it, or because it's "small."
Raivynn, your e-mail address is "hidden." I really don't think we have anything to discuss anyway. I hope you recognize that you don't have any right at all to take anything from another game and distribute it unless you have written permission from the copyright holder. That's the law. I don't think you did it to be malicious, but it's still wrong, even if it was not done with ill intent.
I don't see a big issue here, they are small graphics. Sony may mind but I don't think anyone should care really. This is small graphics stuff you could easily get from anywhere. The fact you chose what they had is simply because it was probably easier to get all at once from that single source. I have never understood why big deals are made of these things. Probably because no one believes in anything becoming public domain anymore. All this serves to do is force people to reinvent the wheel over and over again.
The issue of the modified EQ based icons has been talked about by Maximus and myself. He is looking into the matter and, of course, I will abide by whatever he decrees.
Should the icons be requested to be removed, the remaining icons will be repackaged for those who expressed interest in them already (CNR people mainly).
Archi, if you wish to discuss privately, emnail me at the address provided.

Umm, you do realize that taking copyrighted material from other sources and publicly distributing them without written permission from the copyright holder is illegal...don't you? I guess the fact that this is exactly what you have done here means you are either ignorant of this fact, or you know about it but believe the law doesn't apply to YOU. I'm sorry, but I have to inform Maximus that you have posted copyrighted graphics for public distribution here without permission from the copyright owner.
When will people learn the difference between right and wrong, between legal and illegal?
As I said, I grabbed a plethora of images from across the internet to convert and modify. Which images are from that? And, is it a good game?
I use Google to search for images, quite often; so it's possible there may be stuff from other games as well. And, as my ReadMe says, only some are original pieces. I do not wish to claim credit for the originals, only for any modifications made to them and for the conversions to NWN useable icon form.
Nicely done. Heh, I played EQ for hmm.. 4 1/2 years or so, they had some good icons.
@lavas, Verant is no longer connected with EQ, it's just Sony. Verant has moved on to bigger and better things, from what I've heard.

Okay. I'm sure that as long as you mention it, it's fine (NWN not working at the moment, thus I didn't know).
I spent quite the penny on EQ until it lost its originality and became EBay with Elves.
I played EQ for almost 3 years. The money I paid them, I think they can let me slide a few reworked icons. *wink*
Actually, I was a bit worried about it, but have seen several other things on the Vault with EQ material in it. I also made sure to claim some were EQ icons, or based off them. None are straight "ports", and all are recolored .. well except, I think, the cake slice.
Anyhow, thanks for the nice comments everyone!
And, if someone needs a particular icon or set of icons, feel free to ask. I will accomodate you, if I can.
Raivynn

Well, they look cool. Does Verant know about this?
