This hak was created to give the magic users of NWN more realistic looking staves and to allow the equipping of rods and wands. It adds 2 new staff components as well as 14 unique staff models(including the staves of Raistlin, Saruman and Gandalf the white). It also adds 4 new rod components, 16 unique rods and 4 unique wands. A demo module has been included.
I have taken some of the rod components from the Team Prometheus mace replacement hak and the 2da changes are from Lisa's little hak for mages. I have also used one of Maleioch's vipers and Elgio_Sacateca's pitch fork head.
-=Update 1.02=- Added a gandalf the grey staff and a broom.
I know this has been around a long time, but here's my vote for it. Nice work on the staves. Time for me to play around with them a bit. ;) _________________________ World of Aenea (Hall of Fame PW and the origin of all my works)

Why on Earth isn't this in the CEP?

Hi Bloodmonkey... some excellent work here. Only thing I can't find is a Bishop's Crossier. ;)

Hey, sorry to bother you, but for some reason, I can't seem to use it. I'm... well, inexperienced with computers so I'm probably missing someting obvious about this.

Definitely one of my favorite haks! Just one question, Bloodmonkey; on the Gandalf the Grey staff; there seems to be something hanging off the top of the model.what is it? Is it left over? Or maybe a pipe? Or a piece of leather? _________________________ "I'll sit myself behind this clock, and sing tunes on its belfry!

Tried these out in-game and they look great... with one exception, the crystal rods cast gawd-awful shadows. I can definately use those so I'll have to crack open the model and take a looksie if it can be easily fixed. Just an fyi...Carpe Terra, Project Lead

Thanks Daemon_Blackrazor, the minimum properties has been reduced to 0 :).

Bloodmonkey, you can edit the baseitems.2da to allow magic staffs a minimum of 0 properties, it is the 34th column titled "MinProps" that will allow you to create mundane nonmagical mage staves. Nice hak, can't wait for the update. _________________________ "I'll sit myself behind this clock, and sing tunes on its belfry!

First nice release of items. The mages can always use more things to make them feel wizardly. :)
In the interests of constructive criticism though, might I offer the advice you turn the texture tga's, especially the three 1 meg tga's into DDS files? You'll save at least two megs off your hak size maybe more. A lot more if you cut their resolution in half which cuts the size by 3/4s. Weapon textures of that resolution are only apparent when looking at the weapon close up in the toolset. In game it's just not visible even with an unlocked camera up close.
The tpram texture in particular is fairly harsh. Its a 1 meg file and 3/4's of the texture is pure black, only the upper left quarter is used at all. By remapping the goat horn to the model you can cut the size by 3/4's. Reduce in resolution by half and you've changed it from a 1 meg file to about 64k with no visible loss of in-game quality.
These are not designed to be offensive criticisms so please don't take any, I'm fairly sure these are the textures straight out of the Promethius weapon hak and you most likely just copied them straight across.
But more people are likely to download and use it if the hak size shrinks from 1.3 megs to a guesstimated couple hundred k by massaging the textures a bit.
Very cool work Bloodmonkey. Glad to see more equipables. The work you have done with inventory items has been very helpful! Cannot wait to add these holdables to my weapons pack's.
Soopaman,
Yep that was me. I got distracted by own projects(they take up most of my time). What staves are you wanting? Let me know and I will add them to this hak.
Nice work on these... wizard equipment have been one of the equippable items that have not gotten much attention from devs. We'll definately be using 'em. :)Carpe Terra, Project Lead
