Many people (including myself) flinched at the look of the new character animations in HotU, making the PC look like he/she is cross-country skiing and carrying their weapons in a very stiff manner.
This little download will restore the original animations and also works flawlessly with ROBES. Personally, I find the robes look better with the original animations. This has been tested with practically all races/genders/weapons and there were no visual flaws. Thanks goes to Datakim for the discovery! Installation is very easy: Just unzip the original animation files included in this download and put them in your nwn/override folder. They work regardless of HAKs!
UPDATE: One of the files in this ZIP should be tossed away; it's the file called 'a_ba_casts.mdl' as it will override the Whirlwind Attack animation. Throwing it away will not affect any other animations, so you will still keep ALL the original ones + the Whirlwind animation this way.
Hmm...
this doesnt seem to change the walking animation at all...
any ideas?

According to BioWare, the client crash due to other players coming out of stealth (that required these animations to avoid) has been fixed with patch 1.69. _________________________ Alec Usticke - [email protected] NWNWiki & NWN2Wiki, databases anyone can edit Bastions of War team PvP arena
Will these animations clash with the latest 1.69 robes? (Like jackets etc..) And if they do, is there a way to fix it? _________________________ - R-Uni
"I must agree that I like the newer Bioware animations....don't run around with the practice swords...just watch a pole vaulter or even better watch the LotR movies...Legolas for example doesn't run around swinging his bow...and Aragorn in the second move actually runs in a similar manner a few times in Helms Deep...actually I'd love to see a two handed sword charge similar to the one he does when the walls breached (with the elven host backing him up..cool scene) btw sorry if I spoiled the movie for anyone.)"
You're using a movie as an example of realistic movement with a weapon?
Anyway how would you remove this if we decide we don't like it? can you just PM/email me the answer?
Yeah, this works great for light weapon dual-wielders or single, no shield wielders. However for a character that uses, say, a bastard sword and tower shield this looks absurd for the chunky bits of kit look completely weightless as the character walks. I daresay that this was the reason behind the HotU animations rather than, as previously suggested, 'brain damage'.

This, along with disabling sound and the AGP to PCI driver update helped cure NWN of the infamous sound loop crash. THANKS! :) _________________________ "Smoking. It's religious. Don't forget to get rid of the one file (s)he mentions above too.

It is a wonderful tool...Thank you.
I play BoW and it has reduced the amount of crashes and lag greatly for me. I also use the 1.68 patch. I have done this on 3 computers and it have never done that for me. Did you update to 1.68 first? Not that it should matter, but I know I was at 1.68, then d/l this and put it into the over ride directory. Hmm.... have you done anything else differently? Anti-virus? Spyware remover?
After installing this the amount of times I would crash on Austicke's (or lord alexander's) Bastions of War server more than quadrupled.
The crashing also became massively frequent in the main campaign. So horrible was the crashing I could not play unless I removed the 1.68 patch.
Has anyone else sufferred this problem? I'm sending this info to 'lord' alexander as well, because it is now apparent I can't play my favorite PvP server without massive, super frequent crashes. _________________________ @===============================================@
Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.
This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)

Great work. My NWN 1.68 features quirky out of sync animations and this almost cures them. Almost, because this override fixes the left-hand-out-of-sync problem but it only does it for athletic size characters. Sadly, phenotype large (unskinny) females seem to get forgotten except when it comes to chest alterations (which they can pound with their fists of doom). Overall, great override because I can live with the clipping but I've got to give up playing positive large female characters until 1.69 is out and animation is hopefully restored.

in response to last comment, I've seen an override for this for 1.68 somewhere, but now I cant find it, heh.
Any way to update this to work with the new 1.68 cloaks? The new 1.68 patch is effectively nullifying this override (in terms of causing lots of multiplayer crashes again).
