Basically one model for small breaker waves for use with Ixion Zero's Beta Coastline addition to the rural tileset.(http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/hakpacks/data/1059420046363.shtml) These waves will only work when placed at the very edge of the water. They will NOT show up on the normal deep water/ocean tile, nor would they look very appropriate. There are three models, the model for actual use in the module, the exact same model but with markers at its pivot point and at the ends of its spawn points to make positioning easier (the models without the markers cannot be moved once laid down due to their base being below ground level) and finally a version only containing the markers without the emitters (I noticed that in the toolset the waves really kill the frame rate. In the game this is not a problem, but I created this last one to use as a substitute while working in the toolset)
The Idea is that you position all the waves using either the wave with markers or just the marker mode to avoid choppiness in the toolset and improve positioning, and then when you are done with the area, switch the model in the blueprint to the marker-less wave model and update all instances. Its easier to understand once you see the helper models. I'm working on a few more ideas for waves to add more realism to the shoreline tileset, as well as a few for use with the normal water tile. It is very likely, however, that I will bemoe distracted like always and move on to something else, so I thought I would just release this little bit, and hopefully Ill update. Along with my hak, Ive also included (seperately) Ixion's Shore Tileset hak since it has a pretty small file size, and it is crucial to a proper demo of this placable.

My son wanted something like this and I didn't even know it was available until I read about it the social bioware forums!
I'll second what everybody said about this:
Awesome, amazing, beautiful etc.....

Very nice and creative.

This has to be one of my all time favorite placeables. They take some practice getting them positioned right. Not that I have *ever* had waves floating above the water level. Nuh uh, not me!

Yes, they deserve a 10! This is really ground-breaking (or shore-breaking;)! Beautiful and easy to use. Small hak but great impact. This will be seen in all my future modules. Thank you. _________________________ "A Hippie's Tale", a colouful little module: Link

Don't feel bad, guys...I had my waves set as static, too. DOH! :)
Great job on these waves, btw. I absolutely love them. Talk about really adding to the coast feel. _________________________ OnyxEye - Lead Admin

Any chance someone could come up with a CEP compatible version of this? They don't coexist well and I'd LOVE to use them in our mod.

Waves are nice, but the map looks screwed up. Real turn off.

Delondil, you have SoU? If yes maybe you must change the placeable 2da of the hak not 281, etc... but What you prefer number [over 1000 advised]

These work great, easy to set up and nicely done.
A question though -
After installing and compiling, I've noticed that the "RURAL FENCE" placable is gone. All fences have vanished from my module.
Has anyone noticed this? Does anyone know of a fix?
Posted by jules ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-10-19 07:32:00
you're right- that fixes it.. and they look sweet!

I'm a the king of the fools, and you are my trusted advisor julian, I fear... I have left marked the static placeable property ... a waves static... I have unmarked and waves appear! Try to see if you made the same, I jump in the sea ...
Posted by Rabaut ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-10-18 15:53:00
Same for me, they appear only in toolset ... (and in the demo, but not if I put in, only the original, this is very annoyng)
Posted by jules ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-10-18 04:56:00
does anyone else have a problem with these not showing up in-game? They look ok on the demon mod , but when i use them they're there in the toolset but not in-game. I'm taking a placer, setting it up with the long point about 1m onto land, spinning it so the two other ones point out to see and then changing appearance to shorewave1... thats right, isn't it? please advise- they look superb in your demo mod...

Awesome! I can't wait to try these out.

Thanks everyone, and thank you Pogo for clarifying my instructions. I had delayed releasing the hak for nearly four days, just because I was feeling too lazy to write up instructions on this haks use. I think I ended up doing it around 4am.
Another matter of potential confusion is that this is listed as a tileset hak, but it is just a placeable. I know for a fact I chose "placeable", but I suppose NWVault decided "tileset" had a nicer ring to it.

top tip. try these with a beach and Brother Roth's shipwreck placeables for a really, really nice looking set up! Enough to make you want to start building a mod straight away!

Very nice! It's funny that something so simple can make a huge difference. Thanks for making this.
Nitocris, to answer your question, these are 3 placeable items.
1) Shore Waves - (the actual, working placeable that you see in the picture above)
2) Shore Waves with markers - (used to move the waves around after placing. The Shore waves can't be moved once placed. But by using this "shore wave w/marker" placeable you can move/manipulate the waves. You just need to follow Atherrath's directions to change the "shore waves w/markers" into the shore waves final-placeable).
3) Shore Waves markers only - (same as above, but without the waves. Atherrath noticed when placing a lot of waves while building areas, the frame rate bogged the machine down. He assures us (and I can verify), there is little to no fps problem while playing in the area).
Sorry if my description is confusing. They placeable must really be used to find out exactly what all my rambling means. Trust me when I say they are easy to use and very nice to have in your water areas.
PS: Atherrath included Ixion Zeros Shorelines just to show what the placeables look like in a water setting. There is no correlation between these wave placeables and the shoreline tileset (besides working very well together).

Are these new models to the Ixion Coast hak, or can they be used as backwards compatible for any combos that include Ixion's by just replacing mdls in the old hak with these?

It almost looks like real nature (unlike Bioware's rural set) Nice!

Very nice implementation... I had been planning to take a crack at this, but I really like what you've done. Bravo!
