This Hak Pak has an edited .2da file which changes the DC for Use Magic Device and an expanded and corrected collection of scrolls (all spells, both Arcane Divine). Although we cannot modify the engine to get the true 3rd ed. DCs, this will help to prevent some of the greatest abuses.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 1 that made this score of 10.

I think by abuse he means people taking 1 level of rogue,
putting a few points into UMD and being able to cast any
scroll in the game.

Abuses? Just because BioWare didn't design UMD to be
consistant with PnP, doesn't mean that those using it the
way it was intended for NWN are abusing it.
Quite a bit of the usefulness of these classes is lost in
the transition from PnP to CRPG. Unless a mod is well
designed, the rogue just doesn't have nearly as much
usefulness in non-combat situations as they do in PnP.
Combat is not exactly the specialty of either class.
However, CRPGs tend to be more combat heavy than PnP. The
official campaign is, as well as most mods. UMD is
overpowered greatly in NWN compared to NWN, but NWN isn't
played the same as PnP. I think that the benefit of the
improved UMD helps offset some of their other deficiencies.
I do still think that the UMD may swing the balance too
far, and I can see how the creators PWs might be interested
in modifying this though. I object to the word 'abuse'
though.
