Something simple that I've wanted for a long time! I extracted the palettes for leather and cloth colors. I desaturated and darkened many of the 'gaudy' colors that are in the standard palettes. You now can have some clothes with deep greens and reds. I also darkened some of the blues and purples. The white is now much closer to white. I tried putting them in a hack pack. The palette works, but the color definition table doesn't-----SO, YOU MUST PLACE THESE FILES IN OVERRIDE!!!!! These are just my color preferences. Changing them is a piece of cake if you want your own. See the complete readme for instructions on making your own colors. Thanks to Olias of Sunhillow and PaperMonk for helping me track this all down.
It's a shame that this won't work in a hakpack...doesn't really make any sense to me... _________________________ The VIVE NWN Project.

Always hated those obnoxious colors, as well as missing some really good blues and reds... PERFECT
I suspect they need to be in standard 24-bit RGB. 32 bit CMYK is only used in professional printing, not in software.
Make sure it's precisely the right dimensions too.

May be a bit late here since no one has posted here for awhile and Ursul doesn't have an email link associated with his name but...for some reason my bmp files are causing an access violation error in the toolset when I try to edit armor colors. When I save them in 32 bit format the error doesn't happen but I just get a bit grey block when I try to edit them then. Yet Ursul's, apparently saved in 24-bit format, show up just fine in the toolset. Anyone got any ideas how to fix the problem? I'd really like to use my own colors if at all possible.

Splendid job. I love these colors so much better. :D"Back in the box, ye wild 2da little beasties!"

You know, I've been using this for some time. Great job!

I like your new greens, but I wish you hadn't changed the turquoise. Now even the light turquoise looks like it's been dragged through a mud puddle. Yuck.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 2 that made this score of 9.00.

I have been meaning to do this for our module for a while, but never got around to it. My main gripe was that all the colors for dark colors were too bright, and all the colors for bright colors were too dark. Using this I have changed the 'black' colors to real black, and am also experimenting with patterns by tweaking the gradient. Looks great! The override isnt a problem because we are editing the exe to unlock a few modifiyable features. This also means we can have a custom override file and a custom tlk file that is only used for the mod, so all this aint a problem. Great idea for all this though, cos it has a lot of potential. Note that you can also add even more colors to the pallete, and drag down the same way you get the secret colors. I think you can add about 16 more colors to the bottom. Oh, and i gotta advertise...
Shatterlund! its so cool! it is all completely new hi res content! it uses a single model for every area! not tilesets! 24 new classes! 7 new races! etc etc etc!
interested! GOOD! need more helpers! send me a msg in msn about shatterlund and i will direct you to our project manager! ;)

Yes, I was quite ticked off to find this didn't work in a hak!!
I think that if you make a lot of items for a module using this and then your players don't place the file, you're going to have a gay pride parade in your module. The pinks, purples and toxic green colors will fly, a veritable celebration of color.
So, I'm sorry to say this will probably not work well for mass, anonymous distribution. But who knows....take your chances. I think most people will be able to follow some simple instructions...I hope?

Ursul,
Thanks for the prompt response. I may do a little testing to see exactly what happens when a mod has been written with the files in the Override and run without them. I really like the colors and I'd love to put your palatte expansion on a "recommended" list along with a custom music pack I'm doing and an intro movie.
The problem is that I have to make sure that if the players don't have this thing installed, it doesn't wind up looking "fruity." I have to respect the fact that not everyone who plays the mod may want to deal with the "override" folder. IE: If it can't be fit into the content installer, it needs to be "optionable."
If I can get away with it I will definitely use it. I really like those extra colors :^)

Bummer that this doesn't work in a hakpack. People have trouble just unzipping files, I can't imagine trying to get them to put a file into a directory (I know how simple that is, but I also know the computing public..... :p )

Salvatore,
For the most part the colors are still the same, just different shades. So, if you made clothing/armor using these files and someone played without them....the armor might look ok. But to answer directly, Yes, the player would need these files in Override to make your items look as you created them.
I intended this more for DMd games or persistent world rather than single/multiplayer modules....but it isn't too big of a burden to have players move these in and out. I just leave them in over-ride and use them for all modules anyway.

Question: Does that mean that if I were to use these colors in a module, anyone that played that module would have to have the add-on in their override folder, or will they work in-game without the override?
